They all visit ed Wilson Matthews in Fing- erville. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Staggs of Belton are visiting a few y days with their daughter, Mrs. " Glenn Gaskins and Mr. Gas kins. Miss Priscilla Gaskins of the University School of Nursing in Augusta, Ga. spent the weekend with her parents. Warrant officer and Mrs. Tracy Dees and children of Fort Gordon, Ga. spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Verner Dees. Rev. M. J. Sanders was in Pomona Park, Fla. the first of the week for the funeral services of his niece, Miss Faye Smith who was killed Friday in an accident. He also saw his mother, Mrs. M. J. Sanders of Pjalatka, Florida. Johnny Lanford has return ed to Clemson Universtiy for a few weeks of study. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy South and sons visited Mr. South’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy South on Mother’s Day in Whitmire. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Ber ry and family of Fork Shoals, Mr, and Mrs. Charles Pat terson and family of Inman and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pitts and Ddnnie spent Mother’s Day with the Mesdames Ber ry, Patterson and Pitts mo ther, Mrs. Fred Bodie. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hamrick of V Greenville visited with the fa- -mily Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Fuller and children of Gaffney spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Fidler. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Fuller and family of Laurens and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Fuller and family visited their parents. Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Bur dette, Sherry, Dale and Steve Campbell were Saturday sup per guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Davenport in Greenville. The children remained through Sunday with their mother, Mrs. Davenport. Sunday eve ning the Campbell’s and Mr. aind Mrs. Herman Burdette and Clay of Clinton were supper guests of their par ents, the Burdette’s who had spent Mother’s Day with her mother, Mrs. W. S. Manning in Iva. Mrs. Mark Conner and Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy James and children visited their son and brother, Frank James, Mrs. James and children in Whit mire Sunday. Miss Claudette Parrish of Atlanta, Ga. spent the week end with h^r parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Parrish. On Sunday Mr. Jack Parrish of Aiken visited his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Satter field visited their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Gambrell in Laurens Sunday.,- Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Gil- s^'ap of Spartanburg were weekend guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Gilstrap, Jr. \ Mr. and Mrs. Larry Fuller of Greenville and Miss Judy Templeton of Joanna enjoyed a charcoal grilled steak din ner with Mr. Fuller’s par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Fuller Sunday. In the after noon Mrs. Wiley Harper and daughter Miss Betty Harper of Greenwood visited her fa ther, S. J. Todd, and the Fuller family. S, Sgt. and Mrs, James Ful ler and family who are visit ing. her mother, Mrs. J. T. Hamilton and other relatives were Wednesday evening sup per guests of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil McLendon. They have been in New Jersey. Miss Gloria Jackson of Win- throp College, Rock Hill was heme with her mother, Mrs. Ezzie Miller and Mr. Miller for the summer. Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Wil liams were Saturday guests of his daughter and son-in- law, Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Par rish, Jr., in Aiken. In the af ternoon they attended a birth day- party for Dougie Cooper, two year old great grandson pf Mr. Williams. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Cooper of Belvedere. Mrs. Cooper is the Parrish’s daugh ter. Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Par rish, Sr., returned with the Williamses to their home here after a week’s visit with their son. 11 Mr. and Mrs. Coley Aber- cprombie of Morehead City, N. C. spent the weekend with her mother, Mrs. Rachel Moseley and other relatives. JUNE BRIDE-ELECT HONORED Miss Peggy Dunnaway, Ly dia Plant Industrial Nurse and a June bride-elect, was complimented on Saturday evening with a lovely party at the Lydia Comtnunity Building. Each guest was pinned with a novelty match and heart favor. Miss Dunnaway was presented a red carnation cor sage. Several appropriate and amusing games were directed by one of the hostesses, Mrs. Claude Gilstrap, Jr. before being invited into the dining room. The buffet table was cover ed with a white cloth. A love ly arrangement of white glads and mums interspersed with ivy centered the table from which assorted open-faced sandwiches, cheese biscuits and cake squares were served. Ivy also was on the white covered side table from which punch was poured by Mrs. Earl Jackson. Assisting in entertaining were the other hostesses, Mrs. B. P. Lark, Mrs. Ezzie Mil ler, Mrs. Fred Bodie and Mrs. Glenn Gaskins. The honoree was remember ed with a lovely gift, present ed from a table decorated with ivy and a beautiful bride’s umbrella. Arrangements of mixed flowers were elsewhere in the lounge. Her mother. Mrs. Charles Dunaway of Clinton and her fiance’s mother, Mrs; Emma McClellan of Donalds and his sister, Mrs. Clyde Blair and daughter of Honea Path were guests. , 4FULLERS GIVEN HOUSE WARMING Saturday evening Mr.. and Mrs. Bud Fuller who have moved into their new home located near Whitten Villege, were pleasantly surprised when a large number of friends and relatives dropped in bringing gifts for their home. Hostesses for the happy af fair were three of their daugh ters-in-law, Mrs. Bobby Ful ler, Mrs. Joe Fuller and Mrs. Ray Fuller, who served re freshments to the guests. BAPTIST CHURCH HOUR CHANGED The Lydia Baptist Church services for the evenings have been changed from 7:30 p m. to 8 p.m. for Sunday and Wednesday evenings during the daylight savings time per iod. WITH THE SICK Mrs. ! Mattie Harvey is a patVnt at Bailey Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Jamie Hill returned home Sunday after a few weeks in Self Memorial Hos pital with a broken hip. Silas Homines underwent surgery at Self Memorial Hos pital in Greenwood last week. WOMAN’S CLUB TONIGHT The Lydia Woman’s Club will meet at the Lydia Com munity Building tonight (Thursday) at 7:30 p.m. All members are urged to be present, as a tour of C. W. Anderson Hosiery Plant has been planned. Birthdays and Anniversaries Cathy Pace will have a birthday May 23. May ’21 birthdays will in clude Billy Motte, Harvey Shumate and Mrs. Lola Mae Overstreet.
