The anniversary party was given by their children, Mrs. Donald R. Winslow (Fralnces Doyle) and Mr. Winslow of Bloomington, Indiana; Mr. and Mrs. Herschell Thomason of this city and Mrs. Larry Swift (Betty) and Mr. Swift of Des Moines, Iowa. The occasion was held at the Mary Musgrove Hotel wifh some 350 friends and relatives attending. The story of the anniversary party was given in last week’s issue of The Chronicle. — Shields Portrait. Sarah Glenn Circle In Meet Monday The Sarah Glenn Circle of Broad Street Methodist Church met Monday* evening at the home of Airs. B. B. Ballard and Miss Kate Milam i on West Maple Street. Following the business ses sion conducted by the chair man, Mrs. J. M. Hatton, Mrs. Lewis Wallace led an interest ing program on Zacchaeus en titled “Up In A Tree”, assisted ^ by Mrs. jtffcian Cbtefnan and Miss Elizabeth Copeland. The scripture was given by Mrs. W. S. florae and the program was closed with prayer by Mrs. Wallace. During the social hour Lon don Fog, cookies and nuts were served. Arrangements of snapdrag ons were used in the living room. Miss Arnold Elected State Officer of Honor Society Spartanburg — Steve Spear man of Brookland-Cayce High School in Columbia was elect ed president of the state chap ter of the National Honor So ciety, in convention here Fri day ending a two-day meeting at Dorman High School. Other new officers are John Holly, St. Andrews’s Parish High School, vice president; Linda'DaVis, of^Chicora High School, secretary; and Kath erine Arnold, of Clinton High School, treasurer. All new of ficers will be seniors next year. B. Speake on Monday, April 17 it 3:30 p.m. Mrs. Tommy is program leader. Owens The Maymc Johnson Circle, Mrs. Nenc Workman, chair man, will meet with Airs. J. The Elbe Hatton Citcle will meet on Alonday, Apih! 17 at 3:30 p.m. with Aliss Essie Davidson. Miss Black In Graduating Recital On Next Sunday Miss Amy Black, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Black, will be presented in her gra duating recital Sunday, April 16, at 3:30 p.m., in Twitched Auditorium at Converse Col lege. A pupil of John Erick-’ son, Amy was awarded the L. Clay Williams Music^ Scho larship for study at Converse and the Hazlett Memorial and Mid-South Scholarship -for study at Chautauqua, New York, last year. The public is cordially in vited to attend the recital and the informal reception follow ing in Lee Parlor. Greenwood Homes To Be Featured On Spring Tour Four Greenwood homes and one garden will be featured on the Spring Home Tour Ap ril 26 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., sponsored by.thg Green wood Woman’s Club. Tour tickets are $2 and all proceeds will go to 'the build ing fund for the Woman’s Club House. Included on the tour will be the following. The contemporary home of Dr. and Mrs. W„ S. Brocking- ton in Chinquapin designed to take full advantage of its natural wooded setting: the residence of Mr. and Airs. R. J. Sprott on Gracemont, an example of Williamsburg ar chitecture furnished with an- tiques and 18th century repro ductions; the Durst Avenue home of Lander College pres ident E. Don Herd and Mrs. Herd, a modified Georgian structure with contemporary furnishings and Abney Halt, the Georgian mansion of Mrs. J. S. Abney located on the Cal- lison Road, decorated with period interior. Visitors may also take the garden trails leading through the formally planned yard of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wingard on Sunset Drive, outstanding for its camellias, boxwoods, shrubs and lakes. A tea table will be set up in the Wingard yard and $1 box lunches will be served around the Abney Hall pool between 11:30 a m. and 2 p. m. Rosewi'ations must be made for lunches. Advanced tick ets may be obtained by send ing a check to His Aileen Wash, 111 West Durst Ave. or by purchasing at local stores to be announced later. Tickets and maps will be sold on the tour day April 26 at the Lander Alumni House on Durst Avenue. Washington St., East Point, Ga. were united in marriage Friday, March 24 at 7:30 o’clock at the home of the groom’s parents, Mr. . and Mrs. Charles W. Estes, 201 S. Hampton Ave., Joanna. The Rev. Ross Pickett heard their wedding vows before a small assembly of relatives and friends. Airs. Estes is the daugh ter of Airs. Kathrine Davis of Route-v 2, Dondlesonville, Ga. She was attended by Miss Kay Brownlee of N. Harper Street, Laurens, as maid of honor. Ernest Strand of Joanna was best man. The bride chose a three- piece white line suit with matching accessories and carried a bouquet of daisies and carnations. Miss Brown lee was attired in a beige A- line dress with matching ac cessories with yellow carna tion corsage. Immediately following the ceremony a reception was held in the home. The couple later left for a wedding trip to Atlanta, Ga. upon their return they are making their home wih the groom’s par ents. The bride attended El Ran cho High School, Pico Rivera, California, and was formerly employed with Rich’s, Inc. in Atlanta. The groom is a gra duate of Clinton High Schopl and is associated with West ern Electric in Spartanburg.
