Harder will be co-hostess Mrs. Gettys Gives Book Club Program Mrs. Joseph M. Gettys was the guest speaker for the Feb ruary meeting of the Meli- gram Book Club. The meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Bailey Dixon in Merrie Oaks. Mrs. Chris Adair, program chairman for the meeting, in troduced Mrs. Gettys. Mrs. Getty’s gave an interesting s'.o- ry on “Country of Jordan”. She used slides which she and Dr. Gettys had madej when visiting the area several years agp. Later in the afternoon the members and guests were in vited into the dining room fo ’ refreshments. Mrs. Tench Owens assisted Mrs. Dixon in serving coffee. An arrange ment of grapes in a silver can delabra epergne was used to grace the table. A small ar rangement of Flemish flowers also’carried out the same col or note in the dining room. During th^ business session, new books were added to the club’s collection for member exchange. Miss Mary Harmon Entertained Here Miss Mary Stuart Harmon, piano guild judge for students of Mrs. Eva 3- Land, was complimented here on Friday evening with a party at the Community Club H o u s e. Miss Harmon, a resident ol Aberdeen, N. C., came espec ially to judge during Mrs. Land’s recital on Friday and Saturday. During the social hour an assortment of cookies, cakes, nuts, and- coffee anti punch were served. Later Mrs. Har mon talked with parents on the importance of the Nation al Guild for piano students who plan to further their edu cation in college. Assisting in serving and en tertaining were Mrs. A1 Lan caster, Mrs. Sam Williams, Mrs. Frances Meeks, Mrs. Robert Neighbors, Mrs. Ella Lowery, Mrs. Lewis Barnes and Mrs. White ’and Mrs. MiJes. Mrs. Land will leave Satur day for thy South Carolina Mu sic Festival in Columbia Church Women Meet With Mrs. Bowers The Lutheran Church Wo men met Monday night at the home of Mrs. S. fL Bowers on Pinewood Ave., with Mrs. Walter Sigman co-hostess.. Camp Fire Girls Siage Spring Dance The annual Clinton Junipr- High Campfire Girls “Spring Dance” was held Saturday evening at the Hotel Mary Musgrove. A spring garden theme was used. Dancing was enjoyed to the group’s favorite records fol lowed with light party dain ties and punch. Chaperones for the party included par ents of the Campfire Girls. Patrick-Corson Engagement The following announcement in Sunday’s State will be read with interest by friends and relatives of the groom-elect, whose mother is the former Emmaline Little, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John T. Little. “Sherwood Forest ARP Church will be the scene on June 3 of the wedding of Miss Sarah Ellen Patrick and John Little Carson. Their engagement is an nounced today by her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. James H. Patrick of Columbia. The bridegroom-elect is the sort of Mr. and Mrs. Everette C. Car- son of Gastojiia, N. C. Miss Patrick is a graduate of Drehcr High School and is a senior at Erskine College, where she is May Queen and a member of Women’s Coun cil. Mr. Carson was graduated from Ashley High School and is a senior at Erskine Col lege. where he is president of Omicron Delta Kappa, nation al honorary leadership frater nity, and listed in “Who’s Who.” where she will be judging. The Sarah Glenn Circle wijl meet at 8 o’clock at the home of Mrs. J. B. Arnold on W. Walnut Street. The Wesleyan Guild will meet with MfS L. H. David son on E. Ferguson Street at 7:30. Clinton Music Club To Present Spring Art Festival In April The Clinton Music Club in cooperation With Presbyteidgn College, will sponsor a Spring • Arts Festival April 28 30, on the campus of the college. Ex hibits anil performances in many of the creative arts will be included in the event, and residents of Clinton and the surrounding area are invited to participate. A special exhibit of art works in all media will be on display throughout the three days in the Trustees’ Room at Belk Auditorium. This exhibit will be judged, and ribbr •> be awarded in three u it enf ategories: profession . . amateur, and stude !n a.Mition to the special ex.nbit, tlnre will be an outdoor d .splay of art ah day Saturday. Thh, will lie of the “sidewalk" or “clothes line” variety, very informal, and will not be judged. Artists will be responsible for display ing their own work, and may sell it if they so desire. This will be held on the mall in Iront of the auditorium. Highlighting the performing arts are three indoor concerts and an outdoor band concert. Friday night at 8:00 p.m. the PC College Choir, the Clinton High School Chorus and the Anderson High School Chor us will present a joint recital. Saturday at the same hour, high school seniors who are studying music will present a recital. Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. the Presbyterian College Music Department wdl present its annual recital of private pupils. The outdoor band concert will be an event of Saturday atternoon, when the Clinton High School band will perform. % Saturday’s events are be ing planned to interest all ages. There will be a painting pavilion lor young children, where they may paint and dis play their own works. .The Camp Fire Girls plan to par ticipate with displays of. han dicrafts and performances, in cluding a puppet show for young children. In the dining room the coffee table was dressed with a pink cover with an ar rangement of white spider chrysanthemums and tiny pink rose buds. A similar ar rangement was used in the living room on the piano with miniature brides made of white paper doilies used at other points of interest. Linen Shower The following evening, March 4, Mrs. Morris Sey mour of this city and Mrs. Ronald Cleaver of Elberton, Ga., complimented Miss Mul ler with a linen shower at the Seymour home con Hickory Street. As guests arrived they were pinned with lavors of white wedding bells tied with green saiin ribbon. Miss Muller was pinned with a white daisy cor sage. Guests were seated in the living room. Mrs. Cleaver led several party games centered around the bridal theme. Later (ho hostesses served a -salad plate with hot tea. Miss Muller was presented a shower basket of gilts from those present. The home was decorated for the occasion with a green and yellow color note.
