Meet Tuesday
The March meeting of the
Century Club will be held
Tuesday afternoon, 'March 7,
at 4 o’clock at the home of
Mrs. D. O. Rhame on W. Wal*
nut Street. This will be the
annual business meeting.

At Iris Club Meet
The Iris Garden Club met
at the home of Mrs. Earl Mc-
Elhannon for their February
meeting, Wednesday, Feb. 22.
The meeting .was opened
with the garden prayer led by
Mrs. O. B. Miller. The presi
dent, Mrs. Allen Young, pre
sided.
Mrs. Earl Martin had
charge of the program and
showed color slides of Japan
ese Flower Arrangements by
Rachel Carr. Mrs. Earl Rice
read the names of each flow
er and the use of material to
carry out the color scheme.
Mrs. E. E. Cox gave good
suggestions on Horticulture.
Mrs. McElhannon, along
with co-hostess Mrs. Earl
Rice, served a dessert course
with hot tea during the social
hour. ^

February meeting, Monday af
ternoon, Feb. 27*. She welcom
ed five visitors including Mrs.
Marie Glenn of Laurens.
Mrs. Sue Busby was also
welcometl as a guest and had
charge of a workshop pro
gram. She gave an explana
tion of the spring flower sche
dule, to familiarize members
with the standard show which
will be present here in April.
Later she conducted a work
shop.
The hostess, Mrs. Harwood
Nelson, Mrs. Fred Holcomb,
and Mrs. Tom Leake served
a salajl course.
Jaycees Stage
Party For Miss
Clinton Contestants
Sunday afternoon at 3 o’
clock an enjoyable party was
held at the Hotel Mary Mus-
grove for the Miss Clinton
Pageant Contestants and pro
spective contestants.
Drinks were served from a
punch bowl decorated with
floating daffodils adding a
spring color. Party dainties
were also, served.
Guest speaker was Frank
Mims of Greenville. Frank
is the chairman of the Miss
South Carolina Pageant. He
spoke on the aspects and re
wards of being in a beauty
pageant and brought films of
last year’s Miss South Caro
lina Pageant.
Special, guest was Mayor
Nolan Suddeth. Other guests
included Richard Calvert and
Ted Hutchins of the Fountain
Inn Jaycees. Fountain Inn had
the top local pageant in the
state for 1^66.
At present there are six en
trants in the Miss Clinton Pag
eant. They are Misses Susan
Harmon, Suzanne Watkins,
Missy Wassung, Martha Jean
Smith, Susie Watts, and Eliza
beth Vass.
The pageant will be held on
April 8 at 8 p.m. in Belk Au
ditorium. Advance tickets are
now on sale.
