C. King. 'Candy Beck of Limestone College was the weekend visi tor of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. King, Jr., and her grandmoth er, Mrs. Agnes Brody. Mr. and Mrs. Y. P. Adair have returned after a two months visit with their daugh ter, Miss Vivian Parks Adair in Hampton, Va. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Ander son have returned from sev eral weeks visit with Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Bell in Eustis, Flo rida. Mr. and Mrs. W. G. King have recently returned from a trip to Florida, where they visited their daughter, Mrs. Alexander Cruickshanks in Gainesville, and their son, Gene King in Jacksonville and also went to St. Petersburg. They were accompanied by Mr. King’s sister; Mr*. H. R. Phillips of Spartanburg. Visiting In Florida Mrs. J. B. Wilder joined by Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Dufferly of Baltimore*, Maryland, is visiting Mrs J. R. Dillard this week in Jacksonville, Fla., go ing especially for the wedding of her niece, Miss Robin Baze- more. Miss Martha Todd and Miss Ruth Todd, students at Ers- kine College, Due West, spent the weekend at their home with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Sloan Todd. Mrs. James Walker, Mrs. Claude Cropker, Mrs. Calhoun Gault, and.Mrs. George Cor- nclson attended the annual meeting ortltk South Carolina Society for Crippled Children in Columbia yesterday. Mrs. S!"T. Plowden and daughter, Patti, attended (he William Patrick Holiday Ma gic Cosmetics Seminar in Co lumbia Monday evening. Mr. Patrick is founder and chair man of the Board for Holiday Magic. . , Mrs. John W. Fiimey, Jr., spent Tuesday in Washington, Ga.. with J»er mother, Mrs. P. B. Adair and brother-in- law and sister. Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Reynolds, Jf. Mr. and Mrs. George Bult- man of Sumter, were week-end guests of the latter’s sister, Mrs. Raymond Pitts. Mr. and Mrs. Carlisle Neely spent the* week-end at Litch field Beach. VISITING IN MEXICO Gen. and Mrs. Ansel God frey are on a tour of Mexico for several weeks, visiting points of interest. Mrs. John B. Rickett of GreenvQIe, spent the, week end with her sister, Mrs. Robert Wysor. Mrs. W. W. Harris spent the week-end in Newberry with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George Sean, and children. Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Harri son, had guests visiting at dif^ ferect times last week. Vis iting last Tuesday were Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Shelton, Sr. of Clemson. On Wednesday Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Burris, Jr. of Seneca were overnight guests and on Friday Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Gattett, Sr. of Orange burg arrived to visit during the 'weekend. RECOVERING FROM SURGERY . Paul M. 'fne Air Station at Santa Ana, California, has recently been named “Marine of the Month” by the 3rd Marine Airchaft Wing. His selection was based on his professional attitude, character, discipline, loyalty and devotion to duty. Sgt. Bouknight is the son*of Mrs. Mary Bragg Bouknight. 112 Gordon St. and the late J M. Bouknight. Jesse C. Nance Jesse Comer Nance, 49, of 304 E. Florida St., died in a traffic accident near Cross Hill about 7 p.m. Saturday. Native of Whitmire, he lived most of his life in Clinton and was operator of N. S. Trans mission Service in Laurens. He was a World War II vet eran. Surviving -are his wife, Mrs. Gladys Leopard Nance;, two sons, Jesse Jerry Nance of the home; two daughters, Miss Peggy-^Vancfr of the home and Mrs. Joyce Finley of Clinton; a stepson Mike Kirby, over seas; two stepdaughters, Miss Toni Kirby of the home and Mrs. Juanita Sanders of Clin ton; three sisters, Mrs. Fan nie Jeter of Whitmire, Mrs. Myrtle McCarley of Spartan burg and Mrs. Willie Rogers ot Dallas, Tex.; and a broth er, Jim Nance of Columbia. Funeral son ices were con ducted at 4:30 p.m. at Lydia Baptist Church hy Rev. Mil ford J. Sanders and Rev. J. B. Abercrombie. Burial was in Rosemont Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ovell Woo dy, Harold Riddle, Bill Ham ilton^, J. B. Snelgrove, Grady Smith and Bill Benjamin. Yaldane J. King Valdane Jennings King, <H, of Boston, Ga., died Friday. A native of Jonesville, he had lived in Rock Hill and Charleston befeye moving fo Boston four years ago and was a son of the late Benja min F. and Fannie Seigkr King. , it are two sisters, Mrs. Bfisabeth Taylor if Lau rens and Bin. Blanche King Cause of Boston, Ga. Funeral services were con ducted Monday at 2 p.m. at Gray Funeral Home by Rev. Ferris Moore and Rev. Hous ton Taylor. Burial was In Rosemitrt Cemetery. Mrs. Newman Shouse was in Greenwood on Saturday and Sunday to visit Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Workman and to visit her aunt, Mrs. Madison Work man, a patient at Self Memor ial. J. C. Nabors has returned after a visit to the Veterans Hospital for a check up. A number of 4th graders from the community took part in a musical program pre sented at Joanna Parent- Teachers meeting on Tuesday atternoon. Including the stu dents from Bonds Cross Roads were: CarolyijuPorter, Eddie McAbee, Maxine Spivey, and Gerald Arrowood. Mrs. Carter Wright attend ed a 4-H planning meeting in I^aurens Friday afternoon. Sgt Henderson Serves In Vietnam Staff Sergeopt Bee H. Hen derson formerly of Clinton, is serving in Vietnam. Sergeant Henderson, an ac counting specialist, is a mem ber of the Pacific Air Forces which provides air power to maintain the U. S. defense pos ture in Mie Pacific and con ducts air operations in South east Asia. Before his arrival in South east Asia, he was assigned to the 3840th Air Base Group at Laredo AFB, Tex. The sergeant, a 1945 grad uate of Clinton High School, attended Presbyterian College. He served during 4He Korean War. His wife is the former Janet 3. Lee from England. * Garden Clubs To Meet Next Week Yellow Jessamine The Yellow Jessamine Gar den Club will meet Monday afternoon, Feb. 27, at 3:30 o’clock at the home of Mrs. Ralph Copeland on Pino Street. Mrs. Ronald Burnside will be co-hostess. Mrs. Don Creighton has charge of the program and will show color slides of Fachael Carr’s “Art of Japanese Flower Arrang ing’’. Exhibitors will be Mrs. Morris Seymour and Mrs. Burnside. Sunbonnet Club The Sunbonnet Club will meet Monday evening at 8 p.m. at the Greenville Dining Hall on Presbyterian College Campus. “How to Photograph Your Plants in Color” will be the program given by guest speaker, Rev. Zeb Williams. Hostesses will be Mrs. S. P. Bowers, Mrs. M. L. Williams, Mrs. William Redd Turner, and Mrs. M. E. Bethea. Carolina Wrenn Club the Carolina Wrenn Garden Club will meet at the First Baptist Church Monday after noon, Feb. 27, at 3:30 o’clock. A workshop meeting is being planned with Mrs. Sue Busbee of Laurens to lead the work shop. Members are asked to bring materials to make ar rangements.
