Q. How cants keep my fing

A. If you keep your nail
polish in the refrigerator when
you are not using it, it will
stay in better condition and
can be used to the last drop.
Q. What is a good means of
making a candle burn longer
and with less dripping?
A. Coat the candles, all but
the wick, with soapsuds, and
they will last longer and burn
with no smoking or gripping.
Allow them to dry In their

Candles will also burn more

DOCTOR TALK
By Rembert Benjamin, M.D.
If you are one of those peo
ple who suffer from tired or
aching legs, you’d better see
— »
your doctor for there is cer
tainly a cause for it.j^
There is one very common
cause for tired or aching legs
— varicose veins. The arteries
come out from the heart and
carry oxygen and nourishment
to every part of the bqdy. They
have no valves.
The veins gather the blood
that has given up its oxygen
and picked up carbon dioxide,
conveying it back to the heart.
Their walls t are much, thinner
than those of the arteries, and
they are furnished with valves
to prevent the blood from flow-
isg backward* and to keep it
moving onward, toward the
lungs to be oxygenated, and
then on to the heart, where it
will resume, ltd Journey again
through the arteries to every
part of the body.
Some people are bom with
very poor veins. This condi
tions is frequently hereditary.
When veins are abnormally
thin they e a s i 1 y t become
stretched — and engorged with
blood. Thus ^pme valves are
destroyed and there is nothing
to prevent stasis excepting the
force of gravity w>hich causes
the blood to fall back nto
smaller branches of the veins.
Nature has provided a doub
le set of veins in the legs. The
ones that we have been talk
ing about are the superifical
or surface veins. There Us a
deep set between the muscles
of the Igs. The legs. The con
traction of the muscles squeez
ing against these veins kedp
the blood moving in the right
direction so they do not be-

less the varicose veins aref
properly treated, they refuse
to heal. [
