Hundreds of Presbyterian Col
lege alumni will converge on the
campus this Saturday for the
1966 Homecoming program that
will include barbecue, football,
alumni recognition and the fel
lowship of reuniting classes.
It’s all to be packed into eight
hours, beginning with the 10 a.
m. alumni directors meeting and
ending with the post-game drop-
in after the PC-Davidson foot
ball game.
Meanwhile Clinton might well
prepare bomb shelters against
the aerial onslaught expected
when two record-breaking quar
terbacks square off in the 2:30
p. m. “Battle of Presbyterians”
on Johnson Field.
Davidson’s Jimmy Poole broke
two Southern Conference rec
ords last week as he completed
30 passes in 50 attempts for 291
yards in the Wildcats’ 7-40 loss
to East Carolina. And in three
games to date, he has completed
55 for 95 tries for 537 total
yards and four touchdowns.
On the PC side stands Bill
Kirtland, whose sophomore arm
recently set two school records
by completing 20 of 39 attempts
in a single game. His four-game
total thus far reads 50 com
pletions in 90 attempts for 442
yards and four touchdowns.
As the two Presbyterian Col
leges move into the 25th renewal
of their football rivalry, the ser
ies stands almost even. Davidson
has won 12 to 10 for PC, and 2
ended in ties. The Blue Hose
carry a 2-2 record for the year
into the game, while Davidson
stands at 1-2. •
Homecoming activity is sched
uled to begin in earnest with
the spreading of a giant barbe
cue beneath the campus oaks
near Belk Auditorium at 11:30
a. m. Saturday. PC students will
join returning alumni and
friends for the barbecue, and
entertainment will feature mu
sic by the Clinton High School
band under the direction 0:
Harry Bouknight.
The annual PC Alumni Associ
ation program in Belk Auditor
ium at 1 p. m. will include the
installation of 1967 alumni offi
cers, presentation of the 1966
Alumni Service Award to A1
Brice of Greenwood and the
1966 Alumni Gold P to S. Banks
Hayes of Ridgewood, N. J. As
sociation President Walter Gos-
nell of Spartanburg will pre
side, and PC President Marc C.
Weersing will make a report on
the college.
A meeting of the Walter Johm
son Club, alumni athletic organi
zation, will follow immediately
after the Alumni Association
program. President Claude Croc
ker of Clinton will preside, and
the meeting will adjourn in time
for the 2:30 p. m. football game.
Among the hundreds of alum
ni returning to Presbyterian
College on this occasion will be
those whose classes are holding
these special reunions: 1916,
1917,1918, 1919,1935, 1936,1937,
