The invocation was prof-
nounced by Rev. J. B. Aber-
drombie. A. M. Shumate led
the closing prayer. A vocal
solo was presented by Dorsey
Turner, accompanied by his
daughter at the piano.
Club members and teachers
greeted guests and presided
at the guest register.
The auditorium where the
program took place was dec
orated with floor baskets of
pink gladioli, snapdragons',
and carnations. Other 'ar
rangements of pink roses and
of magnolias were used
throughout the hall. ..
Refreshments were served
by club members and teach
ers at the reception in the
dining room, where the table
was centered by an arrange
ment of pink roses, given by
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bass.
Also in the dining room was
displayed a pictorial histocy
of Miss Blakely’s career, ift-
eluding snapshots - of her
childhood, college days,
groups of third grade pupils,
and events at Providence
School.
Mountville Grange
Holds Session
The Mountville Subornate
Grange held their monthly
meeting May 19 at the Grange
Hall. A. J. Finley, Master,
called the meeting to order
and the Grange was opened
in the 4th. Degree.
Mrs. Watt Bryson, lecturer
pro-tem, reported on events
of interest which look place
in May, among which was
National Music Week, cele
brated May 4-11. Mrs. J. M.
Wham then gave a reading
entitled “Enrich your Living
Through Music”, which was
followed by a piano duet per
formed by Mrs. Codie Sim
mons and Mrs. Mary Wham.
The program continued with
a talk on “Fireproofing Our
Homes” given by Mrs. J. M
Wham, and ended with a dis
cussion of water resources by
Mrs. A. J. Finley. This was
followed by a business ses
sion, after which the Grange
was closed
Refresliments were served
by the host and hostesses, the
