The lower state is after our easy for you to vote to have
potton acreage!* Laurens the acreage transferred out
County farmers have already of the county,
voted 1 against transferring Laurens County has 14,330
acreage across the county acres alloted. Regardless of
line. However, the farmers how you figure, once this
didn't vote to suit some peo- acreage is transferred out of
pie, so they want us to try the County, it will never come
again. Yes, it will be much back. Yes, I can see where
easier this time. You may it could help the state as a
vote by mail or just drop by whole, but I can’t see where
the ASCS office when it is it will help Laurens County
convenient. In fact, you have one speck. In fact, farmers
a number of days to get your have voted it down once, and
vote in. All this is to make it I can’t see why they should
be asked to vote again. It ^
a fact that economics will be
affected in Laurens County
if the farmers vote to let
their acreage go across the
county line.
, Laurens County has quite
a number of farmers whjj
have a tremendous invest
ment in cotton equipment
and are depending on thib
crop for livelihood. There is
also a lot of money invested
in gins, seed cleaning equip
ment, etc. Think about it!
Our horticulturist says we
will have some excellent
peaches this year. This is
due to the somewhat smaller
set than we have had in re
cent years. This conditidn
permitted those left to fill
out into large size peaches.
He predicts fresh peaches -in
another three to four weeks
for Laurens County. I hope
he is right.
