All officers taking part in the installation service Sun day evening and all circle chairmen ar^ asked to attend this important meeting. Von Hollen Piano Recital On Monday Piano students of - Mrs. James Von Hollen were in recital this Monday and Tues day evenings at tier home on Elm Street. Immediate: fami lies and friends were among those present. ' ' ~ r " Performing on Monday eve ning, May 16th were: Donna Lee, Dickie McSween, Jenks Macdonald, Deborah Mills, Margaret Macdonald, Michael Mills, Mildred Brockenbrough t Patti Sherrill, Jerri. Lynn Cooper, Frances Hogan,. Jack ie Shealy, Mary Lee Broek- enbrough, and Lucille Mc Sween. Giving recital numbers on Tuesday evening, May 17th, were: Brent Holcombe, El eanor pitts, Robbie Kate Cox, Kathy Boukiright, Reg gie Bdrnett, Lea Suber, Jpnea Crider, Jan Crider, Trudy Ba ker, and Suzy Jacobs. Immediately following the recital each evening, Mrs. Von Hollen served dainty par ty refreshments during the social hour. Adorning the lovely home were arrange ments of roses and spring flowers at points of interest. Broom-Wilson Rites On May 16 Mrs. Callie Ellen Broom, of Laurens and formerly of Clin ton, was married to James Luther Wilson, also of Laur ens, on May 16, at Faith Pres byterian Church, Laurens. After a trip to the mountains Of North Carolina, the couple will reside at 518 Hanson Cir cle, Laurens. Mrs. Wilson is the mother of Mrs. Frank Snow of Clin ton. Seated Tea Honors Miss Ellen Lawson Mrs. C. T. Smitn and her daughter, Miss Mary Helen Smith of Kinards compli mented bride-elect, Miss El len LawSOn, with an after noon tea last Saturday at three-thirty o’clock. , Mrs. Smith greeted the some thirty guests as they as sembled and introduced the honoree; Later. in the after noon they were invited into the dining room where dainty party refreshments were served- buffet style from the dining table. Assisting in ser ving were Mrs. 1. M. Smith, Mrs. John Earl Smith, and MRS. JAMES MASON ADDY ' Miss Gertrude Smith. •.. i .. Eustace offici ated in the wedding of Miss Nancy Lydia Bullock and James -Mason Addy Sat urday evening at 8 at Reedy Fork Baptist Church. The bride is the daughter, of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mixon Bull ock of Fork Shoals, Road, Greenville. Mr. Addy is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Young Addy of Greenwood Road in Laur ens. His father served him as best man. Ushers were G. A. Addy of Lakeland, Fla., J. S. Orr of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., James W. Arial and Ronnie Clark of Laurens, Au- •brey Swofford of Newberry, Don S.' Elmore of Geenville and Joe DeShields of Greer was ring bearer. Music was presented by Her bert Riddle and Lamont Stokes. Mrs. Joe DeShields, of Greer, maton of honor, ap peared in two shades of pink crepe and carried long-stem med pinlt roses. The drpss consisted 1 of d bright p llhitt bodice having a scoop neck line and elbow-length sleeves, and a full-length candy pink sheath skirt with loose panel extending from the waist. A forward headdress of bows held her circular veil. Bridesmaids, all cousins, of the bride, were dressed like her. They included Bren da, Barbara and Beverly Pep- ple, Diane James, Jean Mc Clure and Saralyn Frace of Greenville and Sally Haas of Atlanta. In a full-length pink crepe dress appeared the flo wer girl, Terrie McClure. The bride’s dress of Chantil ly lace on net was made with pearl and sequinned square neckline. The seven-tiered skirt consisted of alternating lace and net flting which end ed in a chapel train. A for ward cap of lace orange blos soms with sequins and pearls behind her veil. She carried / ■ Club Meeting Dates Are Given The Sun Bonnett Club will meet Monday afternoon, May 23, at- the home of Mrs. Marshall Brown on Cleveland Street. Mrs. Dave Roberts will have charge of the pro gram and each member is asked to bring a fresh flower. The . meeting will begin at 3:30 o’clock. The Yellow Jessamine Club will meet Monday afternoon, May 23rd., at the home of Mrs Marion Lawson on the Hopewell Road. “Tea Tables and Spring Hats’’ will be the title of the program. Each member • is asked to make and wear a fresh flower hat. The entire club will " be host ess. Flower exhibitors will be Mrs. W i 1 m o t Shealy and Mrs. Don Creighton. The Carolina Wrenn Club will meet Monday, May 30th., at the home of Mrs. George Reid. Mrs. Ralph PatteAon Will be co-hostess, an orchid-covered Bible.** After a church reception the couple went to Florida, to be at home on Fork Shoals Road after May 23. Mr: Addy is in the engin eering department of Duke Power Company, and his wife is a hair stylist for Belk’s beauty salon. He attended Clemson three years, holding membership in Kappa Sigma Nu soial fra ternity. He is a 1961 graduate of Laurens High School/ Mrs. Addy was graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1964 and from Style Rite Beau ty College in 1964. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Addy and Mr$. G. A. Addy of Lakeland, Fla., Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Haas pi Atlanta, and Mrs. J. S. Orr of Ft. Walton Beach. Keislers Hosts To Students Dr. and Mrs. E. B. Music Club In Spring Meeting The Clinton Music Club held its spring meeting at 3:30 p. m. on May 4 at the home of" Mrs. R. M. Fuller. The members were treated to a program of band music performed by thirty - four members of the Clinton High band, under the direction of Harry Bouknight. A business ineeting preced ed the program, during which the officers for the coming year were introduced. Mrs. Harry Bolipk, III, will be president, assisted by Mrs. Ronald Bjjptnside, as vice- president, Mrs. Marc Weer- sing as secretary, and Mrs. Frank Fowler as treasurer. Mr^. Lewis Hay is to be proj ects chairman. A motion was made and passed to provide half the funds for two scholarships to the State Band Camp at the University of South Carolina in Columbia. They will be made available to any inter- estecLband members at Clin ton High School. Mrs. Fuller introduced the band, which was seated on the lawn against a backdrop of trees, and the program be- gaq with “Overture for Winds.” Among the selections presented were “Bugler’s Holiday,” a trumpet trio fea turing Bobby Powell, Danny Jones and Bill Jacobs, “Vari ations on a Welsh Aair, All Through the Night,” and a trombone solo by Joey Lee, the student who hopes to use one of the scholarships pro vided by the Clinton Music Club. Refreshments were provid ed by Mrs. Fuller and the cb- hostess, Mrs. Nene Workman, and Mrs. Frank Fowler, and they were served after the program. The club then re cessed for the summer. Miss Thomason Is Named To Sorority Miss Lynn Thomason, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Harold Thomason of Mountville, has recently been initiated into the Zeta Pi Chapter of the Delta Zeta So rority at the University of Georgia. Club Council To Assist X-Ray Unit “Program Planning” was the topic of the Clinton Coun cil of Garden Clubs when they met last week, at the home of the president, Mrs. Gary Holcomb. Council members from the Iris, Carolina Wrenn, and Yellow Jessam ine Garden Club were pre sent. ' • Among business matters discussed and action taken was the assisting with the Tuberculosis Association in their mobile chest X-ray unit in our city. The members Voted, as a therapy project. Hollond-Smith Marriage Told Mrs. Mildred Patterson Hal- land and Howard F. Smith were united in marriage Sun day, llHay 9, at Mr. Smith’s home - an Sunset Blvd. The Rev. Tf. W. Rogers was the officiating clergyman. Wed ding .guests included members of the immediate family and sevi ffBl friends. A* Ismail reception immedi ately followed. ' ffrs. Members Attend Convention Members of the Clinton Business and Professional Women’s Club who attended the forty-sixth annual conven tion of the South Carolina Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Club's, Inc., held at Myrtle Beach on May 13, 14 and 15 were Mrs. Robert Johnson, Mrs. M. C. Poole, Miss June Adair, and Miss Essie Davidson. Also at tending was Miss Janet John son, who was chosen by the Clinton club as the Young Ca reer Woman of the Year. The theme of the conven tion was “Dare to Share,” with emphasis upon the im portance of helping young women who are just entering the business or professional world. Mrs. Johnson, who served the past two years as chairman of the State Fi- jiance Committee, presented to the convention the budget for the coming year. CO. with nine other girls from over the state for the honqr of representing the State Fed eration at the national con vention to be held in Atlanta in July. During a special ses sion for the Young Career Women, Jartet spoke oh the subject, “What IS', in Educat ed Person?” Miss Martha Turner, who was sponsored by the North Charleston cluh, was first place winner. Janet is a rising ^senior at Winthrop- College,- whore-she is working toward a double major in English and Hdhie Economics in Business. She is secretary of Phi Upsllon ©mi cron, honorary home . eco nomics! fraternity; member and parliamentarian of the Senate; cainpus coordinator; chairman of the Inter-Club Council; served as president of a freshman dormitory this past year, and was recently a delegate to the Southern Uni versities Student Goveimment Association ' conference in Jacksonville, Fla. . Her work experience includes defying secretary for th<: South Caro lina Commission on Higher Education Facilities, Society reporter for Tlje ' Clinton Chronicle, and clerk at Belk’s Department Store, She has also done part-time work in the Presbyterian - Guidance Center, Presbyterian,College. Miss Widmer Is Honored Saturday Honoring Miss Cynthia Widt mer, June bride-elect, MrsP. Kepneth Cathey and Mrs. L- li. Cathey entertained witp a bridal shower at the lat ter’s home on Sunset Blvd. ' Guepts included friends df the bride, including her mo»- they, Mrs. Marcel Widmey and the groom-elect’s moth er, Mrs. John B. Holland. The hostess pinned the hoa- oree with a sweetheart rose corsage upon arrival. Following several appropri ate games, refreshments were served from the dining room where a pink and white color note prevailed. The table was pveylaid with white lineft centered with an arrange ment of pink and white peo ples arranged in an antique crystal jam dish. To one side the crystal punch bowl with stand was used, surrounded with! white net interspersed With sweetheart roses. Else where in the receiving rooms, spying flowers were used. .
