turn to Clinton on Saturday,

MOVED INTO
NEW HOME
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Nye and
family have moved into their
newly purchased home on
Fair Drive. They have made
their home in the city for sev
eral years and resided on
Young Drive.
Miss Libby Rogers and Mrs.
Betty Godwin have joined the
staff at Dell’s beauty salon.
Miss Rogers is a former resi
dent of Joanna and was form
erly employed in Florence.
Mrs. Godwin is originally
from Whitmire, but has made
her home in the city for sev
eral years.

Among Clinton High School
students who attended the
Latin Forum in Rock Hill on
Saturday were Gus Ramage,
Will Davidson, Linwood Cox,
Jack Ferguson,, Ronnie Dav
enport, Sophia Young, Larry
Red deck, and Jenny Ed
wards. They were accompan
ied by faculty advisor, Mrs,
Lewis Wallace. Jazrk Fergu
son placed third in the sec
ond year derivative contest.

he is undergoing treatment.

VISITS IN CITY
Miss Jeanette Rankin of
Helena, Montana, and Wat-
kinsville, Ga., was the house
guest last week-end of Mrs^
Raymond Pitts and Miss Ag
nes Davis. Miss Rankin, who
was the first woman elected
to Congress in the year of
1916, makes her winter home
in Georgia. During her visit,
here she was complimented
with several dinner parties as
well as attending dedication
services at the First Baptist
Church on Sunday and also
special services at Broad
Street Methodist Church Sun
day evening. She returned to
her home on Monday.
Dr. and Mrs. W. W. Adams
and children, Susan and Ann,
oi Gainesville, Ga., were
guests in the city on Sunday.
While here they visited in the
homes of Mr. and Mrs. Wil
liam Johnson and Mr. and
Mrs. Nolan Suddeth. The Ad
ams, who are former resi
dents of the city, came es
pecially to attend services at
the First Baptist Church.

Camp Fire Council
Host lo Families
The Clinton Council, Camp
Fire Girls, Inc., entertained
their families at the annual
covered dish supper Monday
night at Presbyterian College
dining hall. The event includ
ed Camp Fire Girls from Ko-
daka, Petaga, Lewa, and
Thornwell districts of the
Council.
The program included a
welcoming speech by G. Ed
ward Campbell, president of
the Clinton Council, following
an invocation by the Rev. A.
'L. Bixler.
A skit written by Donna Un-
dari and Jane Ann Yarbor
ough was presented by the
Tanda group, under the lead
ership of Mrs. Virgie Ed
wards and Mrs. Eula Shealy.
Songs presented by the
Camp Fire Girls were led by
Mrs. Martha Muller, director
of the local Council and by
girls from A Ta Ya group,
whose leaders are Mrs. Mary
Lou Ferguson and Mrs. Mary
Seawright. , ,
Hostess chairmen for the
supper were. Mrs. Marvin
Gault and Mrs.. Campbell.

K519 by Scarlotti; Sonata
Opus 81A by Beethoven, and
Waldeschraechen by Liszt.
The presentation will ''be a
joint recital w.th Pat Oliver
of Gainesville, Ga., a voice
major.

PC Golf Team In
State’s Top Spot
The Presbyterian College
golf team won the state
championship in a dramatic-
sudden death playoff Saturday
to capture its first victory, in
the 12 years the meet has
been held in Hampton.
The Hose went into the tour
nament with a 6-3 record.
Their victories included wins
over South Carolina, Erskine,
and defending champfon Wof
ford.
After the first day’s play
PC held a 3-stroke lead over
Wofford, but at the end of the
second day the teams wen*
tied with an aggregate score
of 588. The top four players
for Wofford and PC engaged
in a sudden death playoff on
the first hole. PC won the hole
17 to 19.
Bill KeUam finished third
among the tournament lead
ers with a 69-78—148. Two othr
ers finished in the'top fwelve
and received trophies: David
