Lemonds, will perform in Belk Auditorium at 8:00 p. nv, April 16. The Chorale has appeared on radio and television in addition to a performance with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. The performance is free to the public. The program will include *‘Ch m Chim Cher- ee,” "I Feel Pretty/’ "Dia monds Are a Girl’s Best Friend,” and “It’s a Good Day.” More serious numbers will include works by Benja min Britten, Monteverdi, G. Faure, and N' .uocicwood. Sherrill Accepts Post at Whitmire Frank C. Sherrill, 308 Chest nut St., has resigned his post as plant manager of Kaywood Southern Division of .Joanna Western Mills Co. - , where he has served for six years. The plant manufactures all types ajf louvered wood products. Sherrill has accepted the position of plant manager of the House and Home Division ol Cone Mills Corp. of W’hit- mire, manufacturers of ready made draperies, pillows and bedspreads. He will continue to make his home in Clinton. Succeeding Sherrill at the Joanna plant will be Ferdin and J. Summer, of Newberry, formerly production manager. Greenwood Mills 25-Year Service Club Plans Meeting The Greenwood Mills Quar ter Century Club will hold its annual meeting in the “Din gle” at Lander College June 18. Joanna Plant members will be included in this year's outing. Personnel Director M. V. Laurens Woman Trapped in Car Laurens — A 19-year-old woman was in fair condition late Monday at the Laurens District Hospital after she was trapped for more than half an hour in her wrecked car at noon Monday on the Mineral Springs Road. State Highway Patrolman Billy Foster said Mrs. Ray mond Reid of 200. Clemson St., was the driver and only occupant of a 1955 Chevrolet that.left the road on a sharp curve, struck an embank ment and overturned about a mile east of Laurens. Foster and Highway Pa trolman B. W. Brock, aided by volunteers, rescued Mrs. Reid from the vehicle. The Laurens Rescue Squad also was called to the scene. Wilkie, sentinel. Patronize Chronicle Advertisers Final Christmas Seal Total Listed The final total of the 1965 Christmas Seal Campaign is $21,262.18, according to Wil liam S. Gardner of Ninety Six, chairman for the Christ mas Seal Campaign. He was asssisted by George H. Cor- nelson of Clinton and G. Wirron Willis of Laurens, co- chairmen. The chairman expressed his thanks to the 6,927 con tributors of Greenwood and Laurens Counties who sup ported the association. He pointed out this is a rec ord high and represents an increase of nearly 5 per cent over the 1964 total of $20,- 286.34. He also paid special tribute to the 302 volunteers who conducted the mail campaign and provided the accompanying publicity. Cadet Johnson Visits Air Base Robert E. Johnson, Jr., of Clinton, was one of 62 U. S. Air Force Academy cadets who recently toured McCon nell AFB, Kansas. Cadet Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Johnson of the Jacobs Highway, is a member of the Academy’s th rd cadet squadron spon sored by the 23rd Tactical Fighter Wing at McConnell. During their three-day vis it, the future Air Force offi cers received briefings on the wing’s operational re sponsibilities. He toured flightline facilities and view ed aircraft and armament displays. Cadet Johnson is a gradu ate of Clinton High School. 'Change of Pace' Tournament Tonight At Palmetto Lanes A “Change of Face” tourn ament will be held at Pal metto Bowling Lanes tonight (Thursday) beginning at 6:30 o’clock. It will be a mixed doubles affair, with men dressed as men. Most of the bowlers will bowl with their wives, and couples will bowl with other partners. Inquest Held In Todd Death Laurens—A coroner’s jury ruled here Thursday that the • March 19 death of Joe Nathan Todd, 19-year-old Laurens County Negro, was due to a gunshot wound “at the hands of Eddie Leake.” Lake, a Negro, has been in the Laurens County jail, charged with murder by Sher iff R. Eugene Johnsoij, since the fatal shooting at Wiley Henderson’s Place near Wat erloo. Two other men also were wounded in the incident. Todd was taken to a local hospital and died about 10 hours later. The inquest was conducted at the Laurens Country Courthouse by Coron er Marshall Pressley. Meetings were held each Tuesday, with an en) rollment of aproximately 60 members.
