THE WORLDS M0SI WIDELY USED DEVOTIONAL GUIDE
Read Matthew 6:25-34
“Do not be anxious about your life.”—Matthew
6:25 (RSV)
% 6
A crowd was gathered on a mountainside . in India
Near the point where they stood, a rope was fastened which
stretched across a deep valley to a point on the opposite
mountain.
Suddenly a man stood up and called out to the crowd,
“Will any of you trust me? Come forward.* I will carry
you across this valley on that rope.” No one dared accept
the challenge.
, Finally a boy ran up to him, saying “Father, carry me
across the valley.”
If a boy carv put such trust in his human father, think
what our heavenly Father can do for us if we trust Him!
There is need to be diligent in life, but no need to be anxious
about our lives. God is great and knows our needs better
than we do. He never forsakes His children. He considers
the birds of the air, the animals, the plants. How much more
He cares for us!
PRAYER
O Lord, we thank Thee for. the challenges found
in Thy word. Strengthen us in faith that we may
boldly accept Christ’s challenges to live by them.
Supply-all our needs, Thou who art our greatest
need. In the name of the Master, who taught us
to pray, “Our Father who art in heaven , . .
Amen.”
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
When we give our lives tocyGod, He converts our anxiety
into trust. * -i

DEAR SALLY
By SALLY SHAW
DEAR SALLY: A little over
a year ago a certain couple,
very good friends of ours,
came to see us, told us they
were in a very tight spot and
asked if we possibly could
loan them $300. They prom
ised to pay us back at the
rate of $25 every month plus
interest. We loaned them the
money, but refused to accept
any interest. Well, for the
first five months the $25
check's arrived by mail in
our home, and then the pay
ments stopped, and it has
been seven months since we
either received any money
or even heard from these
people. Now it looks like
we’re out $175 plus two
Iriends. Have you any com
ments on this? TAKEN.

DEAR SALLY: I was
somewhat shocked recently,
at a social affair when our
hostess introduced two wom
en to us. The one woman
she introduced, with a show
oi pride as “My sister,” and
the other woman with a show
of reluctance or apology as
“My HALF-sister. We have
the same mother, but dif
ferent fathers.” Stressing the
difference between these two
women as she did seemed to
me a very crude and ill-bred
thing to do. Do you agree
with ’ me? JUST WONDER

DEAR JUST WONDER
ING: Indeed I do agree. In
formation such as your host
ess gave does not belong in
a social introduction. It is
very tactless to point out dis
tinctions in family blood re
lationships when people are
meeting for the first time.
Such information as this can
