Lt. Col. Lowman Gets Award

Army, L*- Col. Harry F. Lowman, Jr., of the
4th Armored Division stationed in Goeppingen,
Germany, was awarded the Army Commendation
Medal for outstanding achievements “through
his leadership, ability, professional skill in armor
operations^ and dedication to duty.”
Col. Lowman, with his family, former residents
of Clinton, will be at Ft. Belvoir, Va., where he
will 4 resume his duties after a leave. Col. Low-
man was formerly a member of the staff of
Presbyterian College ROTC unit.

meeting of the Women of the
Church of South Carolina
Presbytery will be held on
Tuesday at the Second Pres
byterian Church in Green
wood. The meeting will begin
with registration at 9:30 a.
in., with the program begin
ning at 10:00. Mrs. W. L. Elli
son of DUe West, Presbyte-
rial president, will preside.
Featured speaker for the
meeting will be Mrs. J. Beaty
Smith from the Board of
Womens’ Work in Atlanta,
Ga., who will speak on the
mission of the church, the
theme of the meeting.
Also featured on the pro
gram will be a message from
Mrs. Walter S. Moore of Wal-
halla, president of the Wom
en of the Church, Synod of
South Carolina.
Thornwell Joins In
Track Meet Friday
Thornwell High School will
participate Friday in its first
track meet of the season, a
four-way affair with Lockhart,
Ninety Six and Spartanburg
Day School. The Presbyter
ian College track will be the
scene of the event..
The Thornwell baseball
team has split two games
with Ninety Six, and will meet
Ford High this week for their
fourth game.
