Mrs. Mattie Philson An
derson. 91,i widow of Rev.
William Ray Anderson, died
Thursday at 11:00 a. m. at
the home of her son, William
Ray (Ned) Anderson, Jr., of
Clinton after several months
of declining health.
Lifelong resident of Lau
rens County, daughter of the
late Sam A. and Mattie
Hunter Philson, she lived in
Laurens a number of years
and had lived in Clinton
since 1946. She was a mem
ber of the First Baptist
Church of Clinton. Her hus
band died in 1945.
Surviving in addition to
her son arc another son,
Lewis Anderson of AusNft,
Texas; two sisters, Mrs. B.
M. Anderson and Mrs. Wal
ter C.- -Anderson of Reid-
ville; 11 grandchildren, eight
great-grandchildren and a
great-great,grandchild.
Funeral services were con
ducted Saturday at 3:00 p.
m. at the First Baptist
Church by Rev. J. H. Darr.
Burial was in the Presbyte
rian Church cemetery in

I shall*devote my time and energy to the promotion and best inter-
4s of the people of our county. In seeking election my purposes are:
1. To secure a tax equalization program throughout the County.
2. To expand the Laurens County Planning and Development Board
to form a Long Range Progress and Development Commission.
3. To make available a sufficient water supply for thickly populated
areas and potential industrial sites.
4. To create water districts and rural volunteer fire departments
throughout the county, thus reducing fire insurance rates.
5. To expand the driver education program, which will result in low
er insurance rates for teen-age drivers.
6. To promote better education on all levels, including a technical
education program for Laurens County.
7. To explore aU possibilities for improvement of the deplorable lia
bility insurance laws in South Carolina.

C. R. S. and Ophelia Gray ,
Bush, he was an electrician
with Davis Mechanical Co.,
and a member of St. Luke’s
Lutheran Church and the
Moose Lodge of Clinton.
