The wed ding will take pl+ice June 25 a-t the Bush River Baptist Church. Miss Lawson will be graduated in June from Fur man University^ Greenville, with a degree in elementary education. Mr. Thompson, a student in the law school at the University of Tennesse in Knoxville, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Morris Thompson of Nassau, Ba hamas. In 1965 he received a B. A. degree in history from Furman University where he became a member of Kappa Alpha social fraternity. Club Council To Have Speaker Mrs. Harry A. Gwenner, of Atlanta, Ga., will speak to the Laurens Council of Gar den Clubs Friday, March 25, at the Laurens High School at 3:30. | Her topic will be “Arrange- rnents from Williamsburg to Iliodern Trend.” There will be a small admission charge. Lyon-Morgan Engagement > Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cook Lyon of 1017 W. Main Street, Laurens, announce the en gagement of their daughter, Janice Claire, to Charles Rob ert Milam. The wedding will take place June 11 at First Methodist Church. Mr. Milam is the son of Mrs. Charles Edmond Mi lam of 517 S. Harper St., Lau rens and the late Mr. Milam. Garden Club Council To Meet , At Baptist Church The March general meeting ot the Carolina Wrenn, Iris, and Yellow Jessamine Garden Clubs will be held on the 28th of March at 3:30 p. m., at the First Baptist Church Edu cational Building. Williams Is Guest Speaker The March meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary was held at the home of Mrs. P. M. Pitts on Tuesday, March 15. The meeting was opened with the Preamble and Pledge of Allegiance led by the president, Mrs. Earl Workman. This was followed with prayer by Mrs. Nene Workman, and the singing of “America,” led by Mrs. Jul ian Coleman. Chairman for the evening program was Mrs. Pitts, who introduced guest speaker, the Rev. Zeb Williams, pastor oi 'the ARP Church. * ^ Rev. Williams gave an in teresting talk on “A New Comer’s Impression of the Town”. Adair of Clinton announced today that application blanks for supple mental .Medicare benefits are available at the General De livery of the Clinton Post Of fice. The application blanks are being made available as the Social Security Administra tion seeks to contact 3.1 mil lion senior citizens before a March 31st deadline imposed by the Medicare law. President Johnson has pro claimedMarch as “National Enrollment Month.” He urg ed all federal agencies and all citizens to cooperate in en rolling senior citizens in the program. Initially, some two and one-half million blanks were distributed to nearly 34,000 main post offices throughout the 50 states. Additional fqirms are available as need- f- , ' Through direct mailings and other means, the Social Security Administration has had contact with 16 of the Iti.l million citizens who will be 65 or over on July 1. Of the 16 million who replied, less than one million said they did not want to sign up for the supplemental pro gram. The supplemental program costs $3.00 a month and pro vides doctor bill and other benefits. Everyone 65 and over' is eligible for the basic hospital benefits under Medi care.
