Miss Sue Word and Miss Di anne Ledford were home for the weekend from Columbia College to visit their parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Word and Mr. and Mrs. Wyatt Ledford. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bragg Jr. and daughters spent Sunday afternoon In Joanna with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Simmons, going especial ly for the celebration of Mr. Simmon’s birthday. Accompan- ing Mr. and Mrs. Bragg home to attend services at the First Baptist Church were Mr. and Mrs. Bragg Sr., Mr. Simmons and Mrs. Don Weavers and daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bozard and daughters, from Green wood were visitors of friends in the city on Sunday after noon. Dr. and Mrs. Frank Caston and son, Frankie, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Hol combe on Sunday, coming es pecially to attend the first ser vice in the new sanctuary of the First Baptist Church. Mrs. Jack Blakely and dau ghters of Greenville visited in the city on Sunday, coming es pecially to attend service at the First Baptist Church. RETURN FROM FLORIDA VISIT Mr. and Mrs. I. Mac Adair have returned from several days stay last week at points of interest in Florida. Richard Rhame accompanied by Miss Rita Chandler from Converse College, spent the week id with Mr .Rhame’s brother, Dr. Donald Rhame and family in Decatur, Georgia. Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Hart were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Godfrey of Co lumbia. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Baker during the weekend were their daughter apd son-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. George Thomas Miller Jr. and their son, George III, from Rome, Georgia. VISITORS FROM NEW YORK Arriving last week from New York City to visit Mr. and Mrs. Earl Halsall were the lat ter’s brother, H. C. Ray and Mrs. Ray. Miss Jean Layton from Greenville visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Layton this past weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Caldwell Hen : derson and son, Tommy, re cently visited in Asheville. C. Thomas accompanied by Carlton Wehunt and J. W. Culbertson of Joanna spent last week at Okechobee, Florida, where they camped and enjoy ed fishing for the some 200 lbs. of fish caught. Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Browne and daughter, Rebecca, spent Sunday with Mrs. J. P. Prath er. Also coming to celebrate her birthday was Mrs. Eleanor Efv- ans from Columbia. Robert Wallace was in Gaff ney Friday for the funeral of his uncle, Floyd Jenkins. He was accompanied home by his mother, Mrs. lone Walace who had been spending a week with her brother and family. Miss Arva Henry is a patient at the Broad Oaks Nursing Home in Fountain Inn following a stay of several weeks at Self Memorial Hospital in Green- wod following surgery and Bailey Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Bill Horne of Mt. Pleas ant spent the week-end With his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Home. On Sunday they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charles G. Horne in Charlotte, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Tram mell and granddaughter, Jen nie Trammell spent Sunday in Rock Bill with Mrs. Gordon Nelson .They were joined there by their daughter, Miss Beth Trammell of Charlotte, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Nabors and Mrs. Lucy Nabors of Clin ton were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Chesley Abrams of Newberry, attended the silver anniversary of Mrs. Nabors’ daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ches ter A. Padgett, Jr., in Charlotte, N. C., on Sunday, Feb. 20. Mrs. W. W. Harris spent the weekend in Columbia with Mr. and Mrs. Randall Gillian and attended the mid winter meet ing of the S. C. Press Associa tion. Mrs. Robert Wysor has re turned from a visit to her daughter, Mrs. . John Jordan and Mr. Jordan in Kinston, N. C. While she was there they at tended a meeting in White Sul phur, Springs, W. Virginia. RETURN FROM WEDDING Mr. and Mrs. William J. Cot ton have returned from Lin den, N. J., where they attend ed the marriage of his sister, Jo-Ann Cotton and Harold E. Delooze. Mr. and Mrs. Lelooze visited the Cottons here sev eral days following their wed ding trip to Washington, D. C., and Williamsburg, Va. Mrs. Delooze is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Cotton of Lin den and Mr. Delooze is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Eric Delooze of Liverpool, England where his father is a city coun cilman. They are making their home in Elizabeth, N. J. ATTENDED COSMETOLOGIST MEETING Mrs. Dayjs R. Pitts and Miss Donnie Seawright represented Ruby’s Beauty Salon at the S. C. Registered. Cosmetologist Association in Columbia this weekend. The occasion, was held at the Wade Hampton Hotel. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. J. Karl Johnson this past weekend were their children and family, Pro fessor and Mrs. J. Karl John son and children from Clem son, and Mr. and Mrs. E.. L. Bryant and children from Darl ington. On Sunday they all at tended services in the new sanctuary of the First Baptist Church. Mr. and Mrs. John Roseboro had as their weekend guests the latter’s sister, Mrs. Everett Carson, and Mr. Carson from Gastonia. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bonds and Mrs. Ethel R. Pitts spent Sun day in Anderson with Mr. and Mrs. Denny Pitts and sons, Willie and Grayson. Mrs. Morris Seymour and boys spent the weekend with their parents and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Haley Brown. On Saturday they visited Mr. and Mrs. Walton Anderson in Athens, Ga. Mrs. Milford Smith and children spent the weekend in Blacksburg with their parents and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jones. VISITING IN PUERTO RICO Mrs. R. P. Hamer joined her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Jim King from Washing ton, D. C. on Sunday where they sailed for a weeks stay at points of interest in Ruerto Rico. Weekend guests of Rev. and Mrs. J. H. Darr were their daughter, Mrs. Billy Smith, Mr. Smith and daughters from Charleston. RETURNED TO TEXAS Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Benoit and children, Kevin and Denice, have returned to their home in San Antonio, Texas, having visited for the past htree weeks with Mrs. Benoit’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charley McDaniel. Misses Janet Johnson and Janet Hamer, were among Win- throp College students visiting at home during the weekend. Tommy Johnson is recuperat ing at Self Memorial Hospitaf in Greenwood following a frac tured hip received in a football game la§t week. He is expected to return home 1 later this week. Miss Beverly Poole -and her classmate, Miss Ann Wimberly from Rock Hill, both students at the University of South Caro lina spent the weekend with Miss Poole’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Poole. Mrs. R. W. Johnson has re turned home from a weeks visit with her daughter, Mrs. C. H. Crowl, and Mr. Crowl in Bruns wick, Ga. Fuler Motes of Mountville is a patient at Bailey Memorial Hospital. SPEAKS IN SUMTER Mr. and Mrs. Rembert Tru- luck spent Tuesday in Sumter where Mr. Truluck was the speaker for the Sumter Pilot Club’s annual civic night. Oth er special guests for the occas ion were the mayor of Sumter along with other city pfficials and their wives; presidents and wives of all civic and service clubs in Stimter, and around 200 Pilot members, their hus bands and guests. Mr. Truluck spoke on “A Christian Phil osophy of Life as applied to City Government and Service Club Administration.” Mrs. P. M. Clements and daughter, Kathy, of Charleston, were week-end guests off their parents and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Leake. Mrs. J. M. Crider and chil dren visited in Elberton, Ga., recently with their parents and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Taylor. Mrs. Taylor accompanied them home for several days visit. Mrs. T. J.
