Parris, 46, of 51 Beech St, Lydia, died Sunday at 9:00 a. m. in a Columbia hospital after a long illness. Native of Buffalo, he lived in Clinton for the past two years and was the son of the late Thomas D. and Bessie Fisher H. Parris. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Susie Fisher Parris; two daught *8. Mrs. Janice Parris Fowler of Clinton, and Mtaw v Kathy Elizabeth Parris of the home; four sons, Gary^ Parris of the U. S. Air Force in Tex- ■ as; Perry Thomas Parris of Edison, N. J.; and Stephen and Joseph Parris of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Dora Phipps of Clinton; Mrs. Elsie Seay of Enoree, and Mrs. Lucy Brown of Union; a brother, James R. Parris of Enoree; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were con ducted Tuesday at 3:00 p. m. , at Sardis Methodist Church in Union by' Rev. Gene Ramsey and Rev. James G. Sullivan. Burial was in the church ceme tery. Pallbearers were Charles Rice, W. D. Gettys an nounced today. Two men and a woman make up the group with seven con secutive semesters of superla tive classroom work to their credit. They are: James Henry Johnson of Georgiana, Ark.; Amelia Nichols of Clinton; and Thomas Alexander Whitaker of Florence. Mrs. W. T. Kanning Newberry — Mrs. Lula Long Dominick Kanning, widow of W. Thomas Kanning, died Thursday afternoon after a brief illness. Bom in the St. Luke’s sec tion of Newberry C f ounty, daughter of the lately John T. and Mary , Elliott ^Merchant Long, she wa sa member of Faith Ltheran Church. She for- rrierly lived in Clinton for many years. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. J. M. (Gussie) Holsonback of Newberry; Mrs. J. W. (Mar jorie) Mills of Liberty; Mrs. B. B. (Julia) Easterling, and Mrs. Susie Gamer of Colum bia 1 ,; and Mrs. Marvin (Mary) McAbee of Laurens; a brother, Norman Long of.Newberry; 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Funeral services were con ducted Sautrday at 2:00 p. m. at Faith Lutheran Church by Rev. Robert Addy. Burial was in -Rosemont cemteery in Clin ton. DR. FELDER SMITH IS CONVALESCING Dr. Felder Smith is conva lescing at his home in Laurens following surgery and stay at Self Memorial Hospital, Green wood. / J DlkAltOttAn ttAUnc.fel' Bowler of the Week Bradshaw Bagwell became Bowler of the Week Saturday night by defeating four other top average bowlers in the Lau rens County area. Bagwell rol led a 622 series on games of 215, 182 and 225. Collie Gilliam was second with 572. Other bowlers competing were Jimmy Revis, J. B. Van- derford and Gboldie Simmons. Bagwell currently holds the highest scratch series ever rol led at Palmetto $.anes.
