The Circles, Wesleyan Guild

ciety of Christian Service of
Broad Street Methodist Church
held a Joint Christmas meeting
Monday evening in Hodges* Hall.
Mrs. Cantey Gordon led the
interesting Christmas program
* which was presented by mem
bers of the Sarah Glenn Circle
and the Wesleyan Guild. A
Christmas Story was read by
Mrs. Joe Edwards with a story
and poem on “The Bells’’ given
by Mrs. Julian Coleman and
Mrs. B. B. Ballard. Taking part
in a shortrcandl e-lighting cere
mony were Mrs. Bill Abrams,
Bliss Kate Milam, Mrs. Lewis
Wallace, Miss Elisabeth Cope
land, Miss Dot Pinson, Mrs. Wil
liam Weir and Bin. P. M. Pitts.
Special music was rendered by
Bln. Ronald Burnside and Bln.
James Pitts.
Tea was served by Bln. E.
W. Rogers from a prettily ap
pointed table which was center
ed with a miniature Christmas
tree decorated with berries and
fruits. Fruit cake, nuts and ham
biscuits completed the dainty
refreshments.

To Music Club
The Clinton Music Club met
Wednesday, December 1, at the
home Bln. Ronald Burnside.
Mn. R. M. Fuller, vice-presi
dent, presided. Following a
short business session. Bln.
Fuller, program chairman, in
troduced Dr. Edouard Patte of
Presbyterian College, who gave
the afternon program. He spoke
on the “Strange Sounds in Saov
ed Music," and used recordings
to illustrate his most interesting
talk.
During the social hour, Bin.
Burnside, Bln. T. J. Leake, and
Mn. Henderson Pitts, hostesses,
served dainties with hot panel.
Womens Group
In December Meet
The Episcopal Home for Chil
dren at York was the program
topic at the December meeting
of the Women of the Church of
All Saints Episcopal Church on
December 6.
Following a devotion by Bln.
E. N. Sullivan, Bln. R. B. Hel-
lams, program leader for the
month, presented a program of
interest concerning the York
home followed by a film.
In a business session follow
ing, Bln. John Riven presided
in the absence of the president,
Mn. A B. Stump.
Plans were made to remem
ber the children in Taylor Cot
tage at the Episcopal Home In
York at Christmas.
The group also decided the
newly elected offlcen would as
sume their duties in December
rather than January.

tions to Whitten Village Volun
teer Service.

Rites Announced
Mr. and Mn. John Bailey
Arnold announce the marriage
of their daughter, Jean Bailey,
to Mr. Milton Perry Moore on
August the nineteenth, nine
teen hundred and sixty-five.
The ceremony was performed
in the chapel of the First Pres
byterian Church, Spartanburg,
by the Rev. Henry J. Keating,
assistant,., pastor.
His parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Perry Martin Moore, are resi
dents of 106 East Maple Street,
Clinton. The Arnolds live at
107 West Walnut Street.
Mrs. Moore is a senior at
Winthrop College. Presently
Mr. Moore is completing six
months military service at
Fort Rucker, Ala. In January
he will resume his studies at
Wofford College where he will
be a senior. 4

The Carolina Wren Garden
Club met at the home of Bfrs.
C. F. Stinett for the November
session. Mrs. J. W. Moore was
co-hostess.
Mrs. Moore presided over the
meeting in the absence of the
president, Mrs. Gary Holcomb.
The following members were
appointed to serve on the nomi
nating committee for selecting
new officers for 1906: Bliss Ruth
Bailey, chairman; Bfrs. 8. W.
Sumerel and Bfrs. Hugh Ray.
Fund-raising projects were
discussed .hy the Ways and
Means Committee for the duo’s
approval.
For the program each mem
ber brought a Christmas idea
which was displayed and dis
cussed by members.
Later in the afternoon, punch
and party dainties were served.
Iris Club
The Iris Club gathered at the
home of Bfrs. Madison Pitts for
the November meeting. Bfrs.
Earl Martin was co-hostess.
“Christmas Ideas and Ar
rangements" was the topic of
the program given by Bfrs. Rob
ert Plaxico. Bfrs. Plaxico made
a door arrangement and also
displayed many other Christmas
ideas.
During tiie social hour, fruit
cake and coffee were enjoyed.
