Mrs. John S. Rainey spent
several days here last week with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B.
Hart, returning to Fort Benning,
Ga., where Lt. Rainey is station
ed. The Raineys will leave thehe
this month for Fort Ord, Calif.

Staff Sgt. Harvey .
Serves at Ohio Center
Staff Sergeant Jesse F. Harvey,
USAF, son of Mrs. Alma Harvey,
24 Peachtree St., Lydia, has re
ported to the Defense Electronics
Supply Center, Dayton, Ohio, for
duty with the 2104th Communica
tions Squadron.
The supply center is a field
activity of .the Defense Supply
Agency for the procurement,
management and supply of com
mon parts of electronic equip
ment used by the Armed Forces.
The 2104th Comm Sqn provides
all communication service for
the center and operates and
maintains the Defense Communi
cation Service’s automatic digit
al network switching center.
An Air Force member since
February, 1953, Sergeant Har
vey spent two years in the U. S.
Army in Europe. He reported to
Dayton from Camp Zama, Ja
pan, where he had served the
past three years.
In addition to various state
side assignments, he also has
served in Alaska and Turkey.
He and his wife, Kathryn, are
residing at 1312 Hemlock Drive,
Fairborn, Ohio, during the ser
geant’s Dayton assignment, They
have two children: Pamela and
Robert.

On November 2nd the Friendly
Garden Club met at the home of
Mrs. Leonard Gabbert. Mrs. C.
B. Pinson, co-hostess was “ un
able to attend due to illness.
The Gabbert home wa^ loveiy
with many artistic dry arrange
ments made by the hostess.
Mrs. J. H. Atchison and Mrs.
John H. Turner were program
leaders.
The devotional was given by
Mrs. Turner. She read the lOOfh
Psalm followed by prayer.
The hostess then served a deli
cious plate consisting of congeal
ed salad, sandwiches, cookies
and coffee.
Mrs. R. T. Hollingsworth, the
president welcomed the 13 mem
bers present and the October
minutes were read by the secre
tary.
Miss Zelle Crisp accepted the
invitation to become a member
and was present at this meeting.
Mrs. Turner introduced the
speaker, Mrs. W. E. Crapps
from the New Prospect com
munity of Laurens County. She
used for her subject “Flemish
Flowers”.
She demonstrated large and
small arrangements that she had
made. The containers varied
from an old soup tureen to large
bottle and small containers. Sfle
used artificial flowers and spray
ed with Pearl Mist Golden Pecan
spray. First making the arrange
ment in the container and then
spraying.

To Speak Sunday
At Leesville Church
Miss Miriam Weathers, mis
sionary to Nigeria, West Africa,
will speak at the Leesville South
ern Methodist Church near Clin
ton, on Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
Sponsored by the Southern
Methodist Church and serving
with the Sudan Interior Mission,
Miss Weathers is currently home
on furlough and expects to re
turn to Nigeria in December. For
three years she was the school
nurse at Kent Academy, the Su
dan Interior Mission’s boarding
school for the missionaries’ chil
dren. Before coming home, she
worked for one year in a North
ern Nigeria hospital and also
conducted a Bible class of ap
proximately forty children in
a public school.
