A3c Harold Coleman Jr., ar rived this week for a fifteen day leave with his iparents, Mr. and Mn. Coleman. Airman Coleman is stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxie, Mias. Mr. and Mn. Carroll Pitts of Spartanburg and Mr. and Mn. Denny Pitts and sons, Willie and Grayson, of Anderson spent Sun day with Mr. and Mn. Joe Bonds. Mr. and. Mn. Tom Addison were among Clintonians attend ing the fcarolina-Maryland game in Columbia Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Trammell, Mrs. Metta Stone, Mrs. Sara Stone, and Pam and Kathy Brown spent Sunday wth Mr. and Mn. Trammell’s son Keith at Camden Military Academy, Camden, for the observance of Parents’ Day. Mrs. Metta Stone left Wednes day for a visit with her daugh ter, Mrs. W. J. Grigg, and Rev. Grigg in Charlotte, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. E. K. Burdette of Charleston were last week’s guests of the former’s* sister, Miss Florrie Burdette. Miss Bur dette also had as recent visitors Mr. and Mn. J. J. Conyers at St. Simon's Island, Ga. RECEIVES DISCHARGE 1st Lt. Donnie Stewart recent ly completed his tour of duty with the U. S. Army. Having re ceived his commission from Presbyterian College he was sta tioned in Alaska for the past two yean. He is married to the former Miss Myra Snelgrove, daughter of Mr. and Mn. Wil liam Snelgrove of this city. They have a son. Bill. Prior to their arrival in the city, where they will make their home, they vis ited in Seattle, Wash., and other points of interest along the route. Weekend guests of Mrs. W. G. King, Mrs. J. G. Pitts and Rhett P. Adair and their families were the formen’ brother and sisters, Mrs. J. B. Kay of Byron, Ga., Ralph P. Adair of Macon, Ga., and Mrs. O. T. Lawing of Greer. Mrs. Harry Ayers has return ed from a visit with Mrs. Fred Archival and Mrs. Herman Hub ble in Marion, Va. Ivey, Jr., and children were Ma jor Ivey’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ivey, Sr., of Cheraw. Mrs. Robert Wysor is visiting her daughter, Mrs. John Jordan, and family in Kinston, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. W. G. King, Sr., and Mrs. H. P. Phillips were in Chattanooga, Tenn., last week end, going especially to see their grandson, Sandy Cruickshanks, a student at Gainesville High School, Gainesville, Fla. play football in Chattanooga. While away they also vsiited Mrs. King’s sister, Mrs. A. F. Mc Curdy, and Mr. McCurdy in Summerville, Ga. Mr. and Mrs. John Rose boro spent the week-end in Gastonia, N. C., with the latter’s sister, Mrs. Everett Carson, and Mr. Carson. Miss Louise Simpson of Moul trie, Ga., is spending some time with- her niece and family, Mrs. Robert E. Wysor, HI. Mr. and Mrs. Dorsey Mclnvail- le and daughters, Annette and Norma, of Lancaster visited Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Mclnvaille Sun day. IN SELF MEMORIAL * Mrs. J. Platt Prathfer is a pa tient in Self Memorial Hospital, Greenwood. Miss Cathy Ward of Waycross, Ga., spent the weekend with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Layton. They were joined by Miss Jean Layton of Green ville for the weekend. Mrs. Hershel Brown and little daughter, Jackie, of Spartanburg visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Waflace Franks and grand mother, Mrs. J. P. Prather last Wednesday. Harry Boiick, Jr., of Hanau, Germany visited his sons, Harry III, and family, and Reid, a stu dent at Presbyterian College several weeks, having been cal led to Charleston earlier on ac count of the death of his mother, Mrs. Boiick, Sr. Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Chapman attended the State Rural Letter Carriers convention in Columbia Saturday. Mrs. W. A. Johnson and Mrs. G. P. Copeland have been in Omaha, Neb., for two weeks as the guests of Mrs. Johnson’s son- in-law and daughter, Lt. Col. and Mrs. L. C. McCarthy and children, Greg and Amy. Mrs. E. N. Sullivan spent last weekend in Charleston visiting relatives. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Neely were in Southern Pines, N. C., for several days this week. Dr. and Mrs. R. L.-McLendon and son, Stephen, of Augusta, Ga., left Tuesday after spending several days here with Mrs. Mc Lendon’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Templeton. Mrs. Ella Carson recently re turned from a visit to Maryland where she visited her children and families Mrs. Frances Bur ton in Baltimore, and Mrs. Juan ita Mishinko and Earl Glenn in Boston. TRIP TO CALIFORNIA \ Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. Vance have returned from a recent trip to California where they attended a meeting of the International Federation of Cotton and Allied Textile Institute held in San Francisco, and Fresno, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. M- J- Gault Sr. of Bamberg spdfct the weekend with their son and daughter-in- law, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Gault and children. On Sunday they were joined by the latter’s par ents, Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Carter of Greenville. Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Christop- herson and family left last week to make their home in Greer. Former residents of Florida, the Christophersons have made their home in this city for the past two years, where Mrs. Christop- herson owned and managed the Beautirama Beauty Shop. Professor and Mrs. Earl B. Halsall were called to Florence the latter part of the week due to the death of Mr. Halsall’s sis ter, Mrs. Hazel McCaskill. Fu neral services were conducted Saturday in Florence. Mr. and Mrs. Cooledge Mixon and family of Anderson were weekend guests of Dr. and Mrs. David T. Mixon. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Godfrey Sr. and Frank Godfrey Jr. of Columbia were vistors this past weekend of Gen. and Mrs. Ansel Godfrey, coming especially to at tend the Presbyterian College football game Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Haley Brown of Bowman, Ga. were guests Sun day of their daughter and son-in- law, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Sey mour and sons. Mrs. James Smith of Columbia spent several days here last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Holland, coming es pecially to be with her mother, who had surgery last Friday at Bailey Memorial Hospital. Dr. and Mrs. Judson Davis and Dr. and Mrs. James Walker were among Clintonians attend ing the Carolina-Maryland foot ball game on Saturday in Col umbia and also their homecom ing festivities. Miss Pat Thomason, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herschell Thom ason, spent Saturday in Columbia as a guest at Columbia College during their High School Visita tion Day activities. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Young, Mr. and Mrs. George McCowen, and Mr. and Mrs. Solon Simons of Macon, Ga., were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Young in Merrie Oaks. Mr. and Mrs. William B. Beck formerly of Rockville, Maryland, are now making their residence on S. Adair Street. Mrs. Beck is the sister of Mrs. W. G. King Jr.; and they have two children. Mrs. Dean S. Hartley was in Darlington Saturday, October 23, and attended the wedding of her son, Ensign Michael Hartley of Washington, D. C., and Miss Margaret Evelyn Hyman at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church. Ensign and Mrs. Hartley visited Mrs. Hartley at Thornwell en- route to Washington following their wedding trip. Milton Moore who has been taking his basic training at Ft. Jackson, is spending a twelve day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Moore before go ing to Ft./Rucker, Ala., where he will be stationed. la Connecticutt Hospital Stanley Davenport, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Davenport of Dayville, Conn., is a patient at the Day-Klnball hospital in Put nam, Conn. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Ott Thomas. Mrs. Fuller Reese who has been spending several months in Monticello, Fla., with Mr. Reese has returned home. Mr. Reese accompanied her home for the week-end and their son, Bob, a student at Gardner V/ebb Junior College, near Shelby, N. C., joined them here over the weekend. Mrs. John W.- Finney, Jr.* visited her mother, Mrs. P. B. Adair and sister, Mrs. D. H. Reynolds and Mr. Reynolds in Washington, Ga., last week. Miss Louise Kern was the guest of Mrs. Mary Mauldin and Miss Nell Mauldin in Greenville last week. ' Mr. and Mrs. B. B. Snelgrove visited relatives in Saluda during the past week. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Snelgrove were visitors in Greenville on Sunday. They are: Lykes S. Hender son, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Henderson, a sophomore indus trial management major; Wil liam R. Blackwell, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Blackwell, a freshman math major; and__ Edwin G. Sloan, son of Mr. and Mrs. James P. Sloan, a freshman ceramic engineering major. Their subjects for special study are a survey of English literature, English composition and analytic geometry and cal culus.
