Freddie Hanna Joins Air Force

Freddie Hanna, son of Mrs.
Clayton Reece and the late Mr.
Hanna, has enlisted in the U. S.
Air Force. He left the past week
from Charlotte, N. C., for Lack-
land AFB in San Antonio, Texas.
Mr. and Mrs. David Word vis
ited Sunday with their daugh
ter, Miss Sue Word, in Columbia.
Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Parrish,
Jr., of Aiken, and Mr. and Mrs.
Gerald Cooper and Dougie of
North Augusta, were week-end
guests of their parents and
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy
Parrish and Mr. and Mrs. H. W.
Williams. They also visited Mr.
and Mrs. E. E. Wells, Jr.
Mr. and Mrs. Royce Smith of
near Laurens, visited Mrs. J. J.
Smith, Miss Feroline Seay and
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Seay Sun
day.
Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Cooper
spent the week-end in Great
Falls with their patents, Mr.
and Mrs. S. B. Cooper and
Mrs. George Wade. Also Mrs.
Cooper’s sister, Mrs. Marion
Caldwell and Mr. Caldwell. Mrs.
S. B. Cooper returned home with
her son and family for a visit.
E. U. Wilson of Atlanta, Ga.,
spent Thursday and Friday of
last week with his daughter,
Mrs. Charles Harvey, and Mrs.
Alma Harvey. Recent guests of
the Harvey families were Mr.
and Mrs. Cecil Lanford and Mr.
and Mrs. Norman Gilliam and
son, Charles, of Whitmire.
Paul Romines of the* U. S.
Army, left last week for a tour
of duty in Vietnam after spend
ing a leave with Mr. and Mrs.
Silas Romines and Mr. and Mrs.
Oliver Estes.
Mrs. Mary Fallaw and Herbert
Fallaw visited their daughter
and sister, Mrs. David Storay,
and family in Greenville Satur
day,'and attended the Clemson-
TCU football game in Clemson.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Carroll and
family of Pendleton, were recent
week-end guests of her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Abercrom
bie.
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde TrammeU
motored through the mountains
of South Carolina and North
Carolina Sunday. They enjoyed
seeing Whitewater Falls and
Toxaway Falls.
L-Cpl. Richard Sanders of the
U. S. Marines, Camp Pendleton,
Calif., has been visiting his pa
rents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy San
ders.
Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Gaskins
and family spent Sunday in the
mountains, driving on the Blue
Ridge Parkway and going to
Craggy Gardens.
Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Dunaway,
Jr., Mike and Roger Dunaway,
Mrs. Ruby Dunaway and Danny
Ray and Richard McMahan
were called to Winter Garden,
Fla., on Thursday due to the
death of the former’s father.

Fort Jackson, Columbia, will re
port to Fort Bliss, Texas, fol
lowing a leave with his parents
and Mrs. Lawson.
Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Burdette,
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Burdette
and Clay, Sherry, Dale and
Steve Campbell enjoyed Sunday
in the mountains, going to Mag
gie Valley and Cherokee, N. C.,
and driving part of the Blue
Ridge Parkway. They enjoyed a
picnic dinner and supper in the
mountains.
Congratulations to Mrs. Cor-
rinne Lawson on winning the car
at the fair on Friday night.

The Ladies Auxiliary of the
Lydia Pentecostal Holiness
Church will meet Thursday eve
ning (tonight) at the Lydia com
munity building at 7:30. Mrs.
Clayton Reese will be hostess.

the Lydia Baptist Church Sunday

During the business session
plans were made for the
men's night supper to be held
on November 6 at the Wrangler
at 7:00 p. m.
Miss NeUie Osborne showed
several feather hats that had
been made by members of the
Hobby Club. Also one not made,
so all could see the procedure of
making a hat. One fur hat was
also shown which was made
from a fur collar.
Pie a la mode, coffee and nuts
were served by Mrs. Sam Mad
den during the social hour.

The Intermediate Girts’ Auxili
ary of the Lydia Baptist Church
will meet Monday afternoon at
4:30 at the home of Mrs. Clyde
Trammell.
