Ware Smith of Clover, and Mrs. Jennie Rhodes of Green wood, spent several days last week with their sister and broth er-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Lovelace. Recent overnight guests of Rev. and Mrs. Ross Pickett were Mr. and Mrs. George Pickett of Jackson, Miss. Last Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Prater and family visited the former's mother, Mrs. E. C. Prater, at the Rikard Nursing Home in Lexington. JOINS AIR FORCE Tommy Jenkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Jenkins, of Banna Street in Johnston, left (m Tuesday, October 4, for Lack- land Air Force Base, San An tonio, Texas, to begin his basic training. He is a graduate of Clinton High School and was en rolled at Massey College in At lanta, Ga. CHARTER MEMBERS RECOGNIZED On Sunday evening, Septem ber 26, the Woman’s Society of Christian Service df Epworth Methodist Church held a special service recognizing its charter members and members with 29 years of service. A film entitled “Portrait of a Woman,” was shown. : ; v Tire following Tuesday eve ning, September 28 the WSCS held a party in the educational building. The room was decorat ed by Miss Kitty Moseley, using the 25th anniversary theme. The program was led by Mrs. Cecil O’Dell, giving some of the history of the group. Mrs. La- vinia Cooley and Mrs. Jessie Prater were co-hostesses. Refreshments of cake, nuts, and punch wejre served. ATTENDS FAMILY AFFAIR On Tuesday evening, October 5, Mrs. Roy Fuller attended a family get-together in honor of her brother, Dan Wesson, of Pal estine, Texas. It was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Toy Wad dell. Frienda and relatives enjoy ed movies that the Wessons had taken In Texas and Mexico, in cluding a bun fight Sandwiches and cold drinks were enjoyed. Others from Joanna were Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Holt and Debbie, and Mrs. Avanell South and Tina. HOME ON LEAVE E5 Oscar Harley, Jr., is spend ing a leave with his father and sister. He was stationed at Fort Rucker, Ala., but will report to Fort Devens, Mass., for further orders. HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL On Saturday October SO a Hal loween Carnival wiU be held at the Joanna Club House beginn ing at 5:30 p.m. till 10 p.m. It is sponsored by the WMnan's Club. Charles Dockery Laurens—Charles O’Neil Doc kery, 52, of Rt. 1, Laurens, died at his? home after two years of declining health. . < Native of WayneVville, N» S., son of the late L. B. and Nettie Dockery, he was employed by Hollingsworth Machinery Co., of Greenville and was a member of Lucas Avenue Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ethel Sumerel Dockery; a son, Ronnie Dockery of Laurens; two daughters, Miss Carolyn Dockery of Laurens and Mrs. J. D. Harlan of Lanford; a half- brother, Fred Dockery of New port, Tenn.; and a grandchild. Funeral services were con ducted at Lucas Avenue Baptist Church Friday at 3 p. m. by Rev. Alvin S.
