HOGAN Telepheme M7-M4I IN LUXEMBOUBG Richard Thomas, of Joanna, is among the six who leave on August 18 for Luxembourg. They will be there eight weeks to assist in starting a silk-nylon plant. Mr. Thomas has been con nected with Chemstrand In Greenwood for the past two years and was a foreman there. Mr. and Mrs. Mose Henson of *, Forest City, N. C., were guests last week of Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Mode. He is a brother of Mrs. Mode. Last Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Poag were Mr. and Mrs. Tillman Cole of Ware Shoals. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Cole while here. Week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Bedenbaugh were A2c and Mrs. Tommy Craft of Sumter. On Sunday the Beden- baughs honored their twin daughters, Mrs. Craft (Linda), and Mrs. Bruce Morgan (Bren da), of Laurens, with a birthday dinner at their cottage on Lake Murray. Enjoying the dinner with them were their husbands, Mrs. Faye Davis, Mrs. H. W. „ Russell and Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Salters and Don. Mrs. Marlene Thomas and children, Debbie, Danny and Al, 4 and Mrs. Ruby Lee Thomas car ried Danny to the Medical Hos pital in Charleston for his regu lar checkup on his eyes recently. While there they enjoyed a few hours at Folly Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Rowe of Clinton, were Sunday evening vistors of Mr. and Mrs. G. V. Sellers. Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Summers left on Monday for Sumter where they will make their home. Mr. Summers is connect ed with Davis Construction Co. Mrs. Summers was employed in the drapery department of Pon- derosa Homes in Kinards. Miss Dora Edmonds spent last week in Waterloo with Rev. and Mrs. dee Blackwell and Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Martin. Mrs. Martin accompanied her home for the' week-end. Mrs. -Black- well and Mrs. Kennedy visited on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. John Ballew of Clinton also visited Mrs. Edmonds, Dora and Buena on Sunday. ATTEND GRADUATION Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Beden baugh, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Bar bour joined by the former’s daughter, Mrs. Bruce Morgan of Laurens, attended the graduation exercises at Greenville Tech in Greenville on the evening of Au gust 6. Graduating at the head of his class was' Bruce Morgan who had majored in heating and re frigeration. ICE CREAM PARTY The young people of Faith Tabernacle Church in Renno, en joyed a home-made ice cream party on Saturday evening at the Joanna picnic shelter. Assisting in making and serving the ice cream were Mrs. John Mrs. Pearlene Holmes and Mrs. Belva Meadors. BOYCE REUNION HELD The annual Boye reunion, of which Jim Furr of Clinton is president, was held Sunday at Sonoco Lake View club near Hartsville. Many relatives and friends from Joanna, Clinton and surrounding area joined the group which totaled around 89. All enjoyed the dinner, various recreations and swimming. A highlight of the afternoon was presenting the oldest member of MISSIONARY TO SPEAK Missionary E. E. Edmonds will speak at the Joanna Assem- b y of the Church of God Thurs day, August 12, at 7:30. Mr. Ed monds has served many years In India and has many color siides and curios of his work there. The public is invited. the group, Mrs. R. E. Boyce of Lynchburg, with a cash gift.
