after which the guests-were in
vited into the living room for
movies of the World’s Fair
shown by Mrs. E. J. Willing

Miss Linda Jean Knox of Greenville and this city, and Da
vid Thomas Forrester of Taylors, were united in marriage am
April 3 by the Reverend Jerry Robinson in the sanctuary of the
First Presbyterian Church in Edgefield.

High School In Greenville and has completed three years at
Clemson University. He is with the Personnel Department
of the Chemstrand Division at PleasantviUe in Greenville.

Mrs. Murray Mixon of St.
Petersburg, Fla., who is visiting
her sister, Mrs. Luther Young,
was honored last Wednesday
with a seated tea by Mrs. Young

The tea table, covered with a
cutwork cloth, held an arrange
ment of pink roses in a crystal
bowl, flanked by a crystal can
delabra with pink tapers. Glads,
roses and zinnias were used
elsewhere in the home. Cheese
straws, chicken salad cups,
cookies, nuts and punch were
served.
Assisting the hostesses were
Mrs. Jim Fowler, Mrs. Arnold
Young, Mrs. Aby Long and Mrs.
Harry Moore.

Mr. arid Mrs. Charles Brown Kugler of Myrtle Beach,
South Carolnla, announce the engagement of their daughter,
Patricia Lee (Patsy) and Ronald Clarence Haynes, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Carl William Haynes of Mt. Airy, North Carolina.
Miss Kugler, formerly of this city, is the granddaughter of
Charles Clinton Giles and the late Mrs. Giles of this city. She
is a graduate of Myrtle Beach High School and is now employed
by the firm of Crowe and Marrs, Architects, of Myrtle Beach.
Mr. Haynes was graduated from Mineral Springs High
School, Winston-Salem, N. C. and is now associated with Nel
son’s Men’s Shop of Myrtle Beach.

Is Entertained
Miss Ruth Holland, popular
July bride-elect, was compli
mented with a party Wednesday
afternoon at four o’clock by Miss
Ann Pinson and her mother,
Mrs. Eugene Pinson at their
home on East Centennial Street.
Miss Holland was presented a
corsage of ivory chrysanthe
mums upon arrival.
Daisy chrysanthemums and
yellow roses made a beautiful
setting in the living room where
guests were seated. Elsewhere
in the home summer flowers in
the same color note of yellow
and white were used.
The bride-elect was remem
bered with a gift of sterling from
the hostesses. Among the guests
present were the honoree’s moth
er and sister, Mrs. John B. Hol
land and Miss Mary Ann Hol
land. Later in the evening, sand
wiches, nuts, cake squares,
cheesf straws, mints, and punch
were served.
Shower Compliments

Cason, and Mrs. R. E. Martin
entertained Miss Ruth Holland,
bride-elect, with a miscellaneous
shower, Tuesday evening at
eight o’clock at the home of the
latter on Calvert Avenue. The
bridal motif of pink and white
was used most effective in ar
rangements of rosese and sum
mer flowers in the living and
dining rooms.
As guests arrived they re
ceived favors of miniature pink
bridal veils tied with pink satin
ribbons. The honoree also re
ceived a unique corsage made
of kitchen utensils and pink sat
in ribbon.
Several bridal games led by
Mrs. Perry were enjoyed follow
ed with the opening of* bridal
gifts.
Later in the evening, party
dainties with punch were served
from a pretty appointed table
in the dining room covered with
a white lace cloth over pink. An
arrangement of pink roses were
used to one side complimented
with white burning tapers. To
the other side the punch bowl
and party dainties were arrang
ed.
