Mrs. M. C. Poole returned last
week following a trip to New
York and the World's Fair. Mrs.
Poole was accompanied by a
group of ladies from the Joanna
Woman’s Club. Visiting Mrs.
Poole this week is her grand
son, Mark Poole of Spartanburg,
w son of Dr. and Mrs. M. C. Poole.
Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Baughn
were called to Chattanooga,
Tenn., recently due to the death
of his father, John G. Baughn.
On the return trip they were ac
companied by Mrs. Baughn’s
mother, Mrs. John Gosett, and
an aunt, Mrs. Maude Baughn,
who remained for a few days.
Mrs. P. M. Pitts, Mr. and Mrs.
E. Keith Adair and Ed Pitts vis
ited the Kings Mountain Nation
al Military Park, Kings Moun
tain, N. C., and the museum in
the Andrew Jackson State Park,
Lancaster, on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Johnson
and children, Jackie and Debbie,
Mrs. Dickie Jackson and chil
dren, Wendy and Rick, visited
friends in Newberry Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Isom Smith and
granddaughter, Teresa, of Fort
Mill, spent Saturday with the lat
ter’s sister, Mrs. J. B. ! Snel-
1 grove, Mr. Snelgrove and fam
ily. They came especially to
visit Henry Martin, brother of
Mrs. Smith, who has been visit
ing the Snelgroves. On Sunday
Mr f and Mrs. Snelgrove accom
panied Mr. Martin to his home in
Oteen, N. C.
Mrs. George R. Futhey and
children, Emily, Martha, Han
nah, and Bryan will leave to
morrow for their home in Wood
ward, Pa., after visiting her pa
rents, Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie S.
McMillian, and sister, Mrs. Lea-
man Jones and family. Enroute
home they will visit another sis
ter, Mrs. Fred Adams, and Mr.
Adams in Raleigh, N. C.
George W. Copeland returned
riday from Charleston where
he was a patient at the South
Carolina Medical College Hos
pital the past two weeks and is
convalescing at his home on
North Adair Street.
Mrs. J. D. Jeanes and Mrs.
James Jeanes of Lyman spent
Sunday in Atlanta, Ga., with the
former's son. Jack Jeanes, who
is a patient at the Veterans
Hospital. Dr. Jamre Jeanes of
Lyman, and P. C. Jeanes of Au
gusta, Ga., spent the day here
with J. D. Jeanes.
Mrs. F. M. Cleckley of Waiter-
boro, spent the week-end with
her mother, Mrs. J. O. Grout,
and aunt, Mrs. Edgar Blakely.
Mrs. Annie Bell Brown has re
turned from a week’s visit with
her brother, James A. Poole,
in Dunn,,N. C.
Sherry, Kristie, Charlene and
Mari-Beth Anderson of Jackson-
sonville, Fla., are visiting their
grandmother, Mrs. Louise B.
Anderson.
Visiting this week with Mr.
and Mrs. C. W. Hogan are the
latter’s mother, Mrs. C. G. Far
rell of Aberdeen, N. C., and also
a niece, Miss Leslie Sessoms of
Southern Pines, N. C.
Dr. and Mrs. Donald Rhame
of Atanta, Ga., spent the week
end with the former’s parents,
Dr. and Mrs. Delmar Rhame.

and children, Lewis Hammett

spent last week at Ocean Drive
Beach.

day for the funeral of Robert H.
Farr.
Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Fakkema
and family moved this week to
Columbia where he has accept
ed a position ss assistant to the
Regional director for the Synod
of South Carolina. The Fakkemas
are spending the summer at
Montreat, N. C.
RECEIVES DISCHARGE
Johnnie R. Horton, QM 2, has
received his discharge from the
U. S. Navy, following several
years service, and is now with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl
Horton.
Brad Jones, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Jones, of Starkville,
Mis., is visiting for several days
with George Cornel son, Jr.
Dr. and Mrs. James Macdon
ald and family are spending
this week at Pawleys Island.
Mr. and Mrs. George Brock-
enbrough and Dr. and Mrs. Al
len G. Arscott visited Mr. and
Mrs. L. H. Lee in Montreat, N.
C., during the week-end.
Mr. and Mrs. Bailey Dixon
and family are spending the
week touring points of interest
in Florida.
Mrs. James L. Walker and
her mother, Mrs. Ernest Koty,
of Columbia, visited last week in
the mountains of North Carolina
and Virginia with relatives and
friends. Visiting with Dr. Walker
and sons while Mrs. Walker was
away were Dr. Walker’s mother,
Mrs. George Walker, and an
aunt, Miss Orlena Cartledge of
Johnston.

visited their son, Hugh, Jr., at
Camp Greenville on Sunday.

WINS TRIP
William S. Hatton, local re
presentative for Security Life
and Trust Insurance Company,
has won a trip to their National
Convention. The trip was based
on sales quotas which Mr. Hat
ton qualified. The convention will
be held in Hollywood, Florida
the week of July 24 thru 29th.

traveled to Princeton, N. J., to
attend the Princeton Theological
Seminary for two weeks and al
so visit with another daughter,
Mrs. Richard Loveland and fam
ily in Bridgton, N. J, This week
they are visiting with their other
daughter, Mrs. W.' W. Smith,
and family in Charleston.
Mrs. J. L. Anderson of Wilson,
N. C., spent several days with
Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Anderson
