James Rainey Hitt of Crete, 111., announce the marriage of their daughter, Susanne Gay and James Bennett Hedrick on June 29, 1969. The wedding took place at the Crete Methodist Church. The bride is a granddaughter of Mrs. Eugene Hitt and the late Mr. Hitt of this city. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Simpson Married In Home Ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Frank Simpson were united in marriage Sunday, July 11, at two o’clock at the heme of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Scott on Route 4, Greenwood. The bride’s pastor, the Rev. Fur man Reeves performed the cere mony. For her wedding Mrs. Simp son chose a white suit with baby blue accessories. Accompanying the bride and groom were Billy Simpson, of Clinton and Bobby Lee Medlock of Greenwood. Miss Dianne Scott, grand daughter of the bride, was ring bearer. Following a wedding trip to the mounatins they will make their home on 202 N. Adair St. Ne w Pastor and Family Entertained By Church Group In honor of the Reverend and Mrs. E. W. Rogers, the Woman’s Society of Christian Service of Broad Street Methodist Church entertained at a reception in Hodges Hall last Thursday even ing. Mr. Rogers is the new minis ter of the church, having been appointed by the South Carolina Methodist Conference in June. Receiving at the door were Mrs. Dan Yarborough, president of the Woman’s Society of Chris tian Service, Mr. Yarborough, and the Rev. and Mrs. Rogers. Party cookies, sandwiches, mints, and cheese biscuits were served from a long table cover ed with white organdy floor length cloth. Tall silver candel abra holding pink tapers were used on either side of a mass ar rangement of mixed pink roses. Serving punch were Miss Essie Davidson, Mrs. Davis Pitts, and Mrs. Edgar L. Blakely. Members of the church circles helped entertain guests who cal led during the evening. Arrangements of mixed sum mer flowers were used through out the reception room. Mrs. Myrtle Crowe spent last week with Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Fisher in Brevard, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. James Evans attended the Evans family re union at the home of the form er’s brother, T. O. Evans in Flor ence during the weekend. Otto Albritton, a former resi dent of the community, visited friends Sunday afternoon. Buddy Wright, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carter Wright, is spending this week at Camp Fellowship. BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT MORSE ' Mr. and Mrs. James T. Morse announce the birth of a son, Stephen Edwin, born July 9, at Self Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Morse is the former Julia Black- well, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Blackwell. HOI has accepted VUIoaa Bailey Memorial Women In Meet The Woman’s Society of Chris tian Service of Bailey Memorial Methodist Church met Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Bob Wilkie on the Greenwood high way. Mrs. George Tucker was co-hostess. The president, Mrs. Ralph Lawson presided and conducted the program. Using as a title for her devotional, “Change or Not Change’’, she used scripture from Mark 2: 21-22. She discuss ed with the group how new ages made new demands on every one. It was announced that the W. S. C. S. had won a scholar ship to the “School of Christian Missions’’ which will be held Au gust 2-6, for having obtained the most new members for the past year in the district. The annual picnic for the members and their families is planned for the August meet ing. Lutheran Women Have Meeting LUTHERAN WOMEN SOC Hie Luthern Church Women of Saint John’s Luthern Church met Monday evening, July 12, in the home of Mrs. J. W. Shumpert on Centennial Street. Mrs. O. B. Miller was co-hostess. Mrs. Irvin Stroud presented the program entitled “Behind the Iron Curtain’’. Later in the evening, party refreshments were enjoyed. Miss Smith To Marry Billy Wayne Emory Mr. and Mrs. Otis Smith of Joanna announce the engage ment and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Shirley Ann, to Billy Wayne Emory, son of Mrs. Mary Allen of this city and Fred Emory of Michigan. The wedding will be an event of July 21 in Stuttgart, Germany. Miss Smith, a 1969 graduate of Clinton High School, will leave immediately for Germany where she will join Mr. Emory for the wedding ceremony. Miss Cato Becomes Bride of Mr. Snelgrove The Lydia Baptist Church was the setting for the simple but lovely wedding ceremony of Miss Frances Cato to John Snel grove on Saturday, July 3, at ten o’clock in the morning. The Reverend M. J. Sanders read the marriage vows before a small assembly of relatives and friends. The bride is the daughter of Walter Cato and the late Mrs. Cato of this city. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Snelgrove also of this city. The bride was given in mar riage by her father and accom panied by her sister, Miss Gloria Cato. The groom chose his father as best man. Following a wedding trip to the mountains of North Carolina, they are making their home on Woodrow Street. Both are graduates of Clinton High School.
