Cn Tharaday, May 13, 1965 THE CLINTON CHRONICLE i -L- EVA A1XENE ULRICH Ulrich-Vcm Brero Rites in August Tea Honors Miss Bolick, Miss Neighbors An afternoon tea was given in honor of Misses Nancy Neigh, hors and Miss Julie Bolick, June brides-elect ,at the home of Mrs. Raymond Pitts by Mrs. Pitts, Mrs. J. B. Hart and Miss Agnes Davis last Sautrday. Greeting the guests, invited to call between 4 and 6 o'clock, were Mrs. Pitts and the hon- orees. Pink roses and pink and white peonies arranged in a Dresden container were used on a side table in the living room, and on the mantel was an arrangement of coral sweet heart roses mixed with Eclipse roses in a low white bowl. Mrs. Hart and Miss Davis received in the dining room where guests were served punch, sandwiches, cheese bis cuits, nuts and iced party cakes. Assisting were Mrs. John Rainey and Mrs. Bobby Hoffman. The dining table was covered with an imported Italian cut- work cloth, and centered with a silver epergne holding mixed pink and yellow roses and pinks. Miss Bolick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Julian Bolick, will be married to George Richard Buford on June 12, and Miss Neighbors, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Addison Neighbors, will marry Wayne Morgan on June 20. C., son of Mrs. Jan van Staveren of Or- Boiley WSCS Has Guest From Laurens' ■ Bailey Memorial Woman's Society of Christian Service met last Monday night at the home of Mrs. Tommy Miller. The group had as their guest the Greenwood District Presi dent of WSCS, Mrs. Dwight Pat terson of Laurens. Mrs. Patter son talked to the group about the responsibilities and needs that the society should work to ward during the coming year. She expressed the necessity of each member to know her du ties and to follow them closely. Mrs. Marvin Stewart was in charge of the devotional and she was asssited by Mrs. W. E. Madden. During the business session the quarterly reports of the dis- lando, Fla., and Cornelius van Brero of Apeldoorn, the Neth erlands. Miss Ulrich was graduated from Cushing Academy, Ash- bumham, Mass., in 1961, and she is a senior at Wake Forest College, Winston-Salem, N. C., where she is a member of Na tional Collegiate Players. Lt. Van Brero was graduated from the University of Florida where he was a member of Al pha Tau Omega, national social fraternity. He Js presently as signed to the Adjutant Genial's Section, . Headquarters, XVIII Airborne Corps, U. S. Army. The wedding is planned for August 21 at the Main Post Chapel at Fort Bragg, N. C. trict office were filled out. Converse Bride Honored By . Clintonians Mrs. D. H. McFaddeh and her daughter, Miss Corinne Boyd, entertained at a luncheon last Saturday for Miss Martha McAngus, of West Point, Ga., Miss Boyd’s Convrese college roommate last year. The luncheon was/given at the home of Mrs. Cecil Wilson on Ansel Drive, which wax* dec orated for the occasion with ar rangements of mixed roses. Miss McAngus’ place at the din ing table was marked with a corsage of yellow sweetheart roses and she was remembreed by the hostesses with a trous seau gift. Invited to attend were the following Converse friends of the bride-elect: Misses Judy Walker, Happy Greene, Cam Dive, Avery Hall, Murray Addi son, Barbara Eichelberger, and Rita Chandler. Lt. Col (Ret.) and Mrs. John Alton Moore of Orlando, Fla., announce the engagement of their daughter,, Karen Eliza beth, and Alyn Denny Abrams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Virgil Abrams of Greenville, formerly of Clinton. Sizes S-M-L Music Club Meets To Hear Band Instruments The Clinton Music club met last Wednesday afternoon at Hodges Hall, Broad Street Meth odist church, with Mrs. Audrey McCroskey presiding. Harry Bouknight, band director at Clinton High School, was the afternoon’s speaker. In Illus trating his talk, he presented several members of the band who demonstrated their instru ments: Jim Adair gave a short drum recital, and the following on clarinet, saxophone and brasses: Nora Oeland, Kathy Bouknight, Nancy Jones, Tom my Gordon, Lucille McSween, Kay ran Cox, Carolyn Bundrick, Connie Jones, Johnny Bolt, Col lie Lehn, Adrian Giles, Jack Ferguson, Danny Jones, Bobby Powell, Bill Jacobs, Brooks Mills, Jimmy Young, Donald Os born, Chocky Burnett, Mike Jones, Joey Lee, Eddie Perry, Irby Holland, Freddy Ray and Butch Meadows. Mrs. Ronald Burniside, pro gram chairman, was in charge. Refreshments were served by the hostesses, Mrs. Edgar Blake ly, Mrs. Robert Johnson and Mrs. Paul Muller. Legion Auxiliary ' To Meet Tuesday The American Legion Aux iliary will meet with Mrs. J. P. Prather at 7:30 p. m., Tuesday. In observance of memorial month, a ceremony of memo rial will be presented by Mrs. George W. Copeland and Mrs. Rt P. Chapman, members of the memroial committee. Plans for Poppy Days, May 21 and 22 will be completed. Mrs. H. M. Young is poppy chairman. in Texas, Georgia and Europe, and was graduated from Oak Ridge High School, Orlando. -3he now attends Orlando Junior College where she is a member of Kappa Alpha Sorority. Mr. Abrams was graduated from Wade Hampton High School, Greenville, and attends Wofford College, Spartanburg, where, he is a , member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. The wedding will take place August 14 at St. Mary of the Angels Episcopal Church, Or lando. The bridegroom-elect is a nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Davis Holland of Clinton. Hortline-Cooley Rites Performed In Laurens April 17 Laurens — Rev. Claire C. Ba ker of Hillcrest Baptist Church officiated at the April 17 marri age in his home of Miss Lora Faye Hartline, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lee Hartline of 111 Constitution Ave., to A. 1. c. James Randall Cooley of Ware Shoals and Charleston. Airman Cooley is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Moses Cooley of Ware Shoals. The bride wore an off-white suit with matching accessories and an orchid corsage for the ceremony and a trip to the North Carolina mountains. A 1962 graduate of Laurens High School, Mrs. Cooley attend ed Piedmont Hospital school of nursing in Atlanta. She is a sec retary at Thomweil Orphanage. Airman Cooley, a 1962 gradu ate of Ware Shoals High School, is stationed in Charleston. Mrs. Cooley is living with her parents until she can join her husband. Methodist Circle In May Session Mrs. B. B. Ballard and Miss Kate Milam were hostesses at the May meeting of the Sarah Glenn Circle of Board Street Me thodist Church Monday evening. The chairman. Miss Milam, presided over the brief business session and the program “The Disciplined Life” was led by Mrs. W. S. Home with Mrs. Joe Bonds, Mrs. J. B. Arnold and Mrs. J. M. Hatton assisting with the program. During the social hour London Fog and cookies were served. l_. - *"T Church Women In Special Event On Next Monday The annual birthday party of the Presbyterian Women of The Church will be held Monday, at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel. Mrs. W. C. Ellison of Due West will present the program, des cribing the birthday objective of the year — the Chonju Medical Center and Taejon Presbyterian College. All members are urged to attend and are given the pri vilege to contribute an offering bo those Christian institutions. Mrs. Macdonald Is Club Hostess Mrs. James Macdonald en tertained her bridge club and several additional guests last Thursday afternoon at her home on Nottingham Road. Arrangements of iris were used in the living room and in the den, bowls of Sweet Wil liam. Between progressions the hostess served sandwiches and cookies and a sweet course. Mrs. R. E. Ferguson, Jr., was winner of high score, and Mrs. Rufus Sadler was presented the consolation award. Piano Recital Miss Janice Caughman, pupil of Mrs. Joe E. Dr. Ruth Stokes has return ed from Washington, D. C., where she visited her niece, Miss Frances Stokes, for sev eral days last week. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Thomason of Stuart, Fla., were here for several days on business last week. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bannis ter and family spent Sunday with Mr. Bannister’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rufus McClain, in LaFrance. Mr. and Mrs. Edd Burns of Columbia, were dinner guests Music Recital Mrs. Joe E. Land will present her pupils in a music recital at 7:00 p. m., May 15, at Mercer Silas Bailey School. PTA MEETING The Cross Hill-Mountvilie Parent-Teacher Asociation held its monthly meeting last Thurs day night. The president, Mrs. J. H. Thomason, Jr., presided. James W. Goodman gave the devotional. After the business hour, an enjoyable period of music and songs was given by the chil dren, directed by Mrs. R. R. Burns of Laurens. The entire audience joined in singing of the last song, led by Mrs. Ful ler Motes.
