RETURNS TO ALABAMA Mrs. Norman Wood returned Monday to her home in Talla dega, Ala., after spending sev eral days with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bailey Dixon and family. Billy Ballard, student at Qemson College, spent the week-end wtih his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. B. Ballard. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Vance, Mr. and Mrs. Carlisle Neely, and Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Tem pleton returned last week-end after attending the American Textile Manufacturers Institute meeting in Hollywood, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Mitchell and daughter of Durham, N. C., visited Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Bag- well, Jr., during the week-end. HAVE CHILDREN FOR WEEK-END Visiting Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Hart during the week-end were their daughters, Mrs. John Rainey of Columbia, Mrs. Car- roll Brown Hart and children of Anderson, and Miss Lillian Hart of Williamsburg, Va. Miss Hart, who had been visiting for several days with her parents, spent the earlier part of the week with her mother touring the historical homes in Charles ton. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis H. Bag- well attended the National As sociation of Broadcasters con vention in Washington, D. C., the past week. Miss Elizabeth Glover re turned Sunday to Winthrop Col lege, Rock Hill, after spending the spring holidays with her pa rents, Mr. and Mrs. John Glov er. Chuck Giles of Greenville, visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Giles, during the week. ATTENDS MILITARY BALL Miss Sylvia Summerville spent the week-end at Clemson and attended the Military Ball and banquet at Clemson Uni versity. She was the guest of Mac Gaffney. . Darryl Mauldin and his roommate, - Woody Dickerson, students at North Greenville Junior College, spent the week end with Ms parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Mauldin. Mrs. Julian Reynolds has re turned home from Natchez, Miss., where she has been visit ing her son. Dr. Robert Rey nolds, and family. She attend ed the Natchez Pilgrimage and the Confederate Pageant, an annual social event. HOME FROM DUTY Pfc. John Snelgrove arrived Tuesday from Ft. Bliss, Texas, where he served a three-month tour of active duty with the U. S. Army. He is the son Of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Snelgrove, and is a member of the local Na tional Guard unit. Mrs. Hubert Pitts and Mrs. H. D. Payne are spending the week in Charleston with the for mer’s sister, Mrs. E. K. Bur dette, and Mr. Burdette and will visit the gardens while there. Mrs. Linda Gilstrap of Green ville, visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Dunaway, over the week-end. Mrs. Ernest Chaney has re turned from a several weeks weeks visit with her daughter, Mrs. Frazier Lominack, and Mr. Lominack in Charleston. • J;::*:-. HONORED ON BIRTHDAY ^ Mrs. J. C. Thomas was enter, tained on her birthday, Monday, April 5, with a dinner at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Mann. Others present for the oc casion were Mrs. Robert H. Freeland aid children of Bruns wick, Ga. Miss Shirley League returned to her studies at the Greenville School of Nursing having spent the spring holidays with her fath er Bill League and her mother, Mrs. League, who is a patient at GreenviUe General Hospital. Also visiting over the weekend was another daughter, Miss Mary Grgee League, a student nurse at Grady Hospital, Atlanta, Ga. Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Holis and daughter, Renie, spent the week-end in Summerville with the Rev. and Mrs. Robert Trapp, the new assistant pastor of the First Presbyterian Church. MOVES INTO MANSE The Rev. and Mrs. Joseph Greer have moved into the new ly purchased manse on Centen nial Street. The Rev. Greer is the new assistant for the Pres byterian Church. Master Charles Hatley Jr., is recuperating from a bronchial in fection at Bailey Memorial Hos pital. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Hatley. LOSES SISTER Mr. and Mrs. Rhett P. Adair were called to Little Moun^pin yesterday on account of the sud den death of her sister, Mrs. Ed ward J. Locke. Mrs. David Cook has returned from Rowland, N. C., where shs speqj: several weeks with her son-in-law and daughter, Rev. and Mrs. Charles Hollingsworth. ATTEND POOLE FUNERAL Mrs. W. R. Brown, R. E. Poole, John H. Poole, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Poole, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Martin, Mrs. Earl Alexan der of Laurens, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Poole, Mr. and Mrs. Niles Poole of Elberton, Ga., were in Dunn, N. C., for the funeral of Mrs. James A. Poole on March 21. Another brother, Allen Poole, could not attend due to illness. Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Staton were visitors in Augusta, Ga., on Sunday. IN COLUMBIA HOSPITAL Brent Holcombe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Holcombe, is a patient in Columbia Hospital where he underwent surgery again last week for injuries re ceived in a fall which resulted in a broken leg. He expects to return home this week. Mrs. Hol combe is in Columbia with her son. Mrs. I. M. Smith of Kinards and Mrs. Hugh Simpson visited Mrs. J. Lee Young, a patient la Huntington Nursing Home in Greer Friday. Mrs. Thornton Stewart, Mrs. Clyde Todd and Mrs. Hubert Todd attended the senior recital of Miss Betty Bigham, soprano, at Erskint College, Due West, on Monday avening. They also at tended the reception 4n the new student center afterwards. Miss Bigham is a former roommate of Mrs. Stewart. Mrs. W. L. London and sons, Will and John, of Durham, N. C., spent the week-end with Mrs. London’s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. O’Daniel. Mrs. London is the daughter of Mrs R. N. White of Winston-Salem. Mrs. White is spending a week with the O’Daniels. Dr. and Mrs. Earl Spencer of V. P. I. in Blacksburg, Va., were recent guests of Mrs. James Gray. During their visit a number of courtesies were shown, including a small tea by Mrs. Robert Wysor. Lt. and Mrs. William Mc Pherson of Myrtle Beach, spent several days last week with the 1 a 11 e r’s grandfather, C. C. .Giles. C. C. Giles is spending sev eral days in Mrytle Beach with his daughter, Mrs. C. B. Kug- ler, and family. L-C Richard Itoome is on leave this week fromlCamp LeJeune, N. C. and is visiting with his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Delmar Rhame. Mrs. Robert H. Freeland and children, Carolyn, David, and Tom, of Brunswick, Georgia, are spending severitt weeks with the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Thomas. The Rev.
