Lockett en tertained with a luncheon in honor of her daughter, Miss Kit ty Lockett, a student at the Spar tanburg General Hospital, who was home for the Christmas holi days. The occasioh was held in the hospitality room of the Mary M us grove Hotel on Friday, New Year’s Day. A seasonal arrangement with candles was used on the lunch, eon table. Guests present for the occas- sion were Misses Brenda Chris- topherson, Mary Ellen Cornwell, Susie Davis, and Patsy Hender son. Horizon Club Has Snowball Dance The Horizon Club Girls of the Clinton Council of Camp Fire Girls, including the Lewa, Peta. ga, and Kadoka groups, will sponsor their annual “Snow Ball Dance” on Saturday evening, January 9, at 8 o’clock in the ballroom of the Mary Musgrove Hotel. One of the highlights of the year for Horizon Club Girls, the event will be a gala affair with dancing to the music of “The Shadows” from W. G. Chaperoned by leaders of the different groups, all parents, members of the Campfire Board of Directors, and any interested members are invited to attend. UDC Meets Tonight With Mrs. Pitts The Stephen D. Lee Chapter of the United Daughters of the Con federacy will meet tonight, Jan. 7 at 7:30 at the home of Mrs. F M. Pitts wi Musgrove Street Extension. Karen Wessinger Has Birthday Party In honor of her seventh birth day, Miss Karen Wessinger was entertained with a party at her home on Huntington Road. Ice cream and cake was en joyed at home followed with a treat to the movie. Among friends present were Misses Jennifer and Laura Nye, Jenny Shields, Amy Jacobs and MicheUe Cox. Karen is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. N. C. Wessinger. 4 Entertain Family With Drop-In Mr. and Mrs. Thomas P. Ow ens entertained with a family drop-in December 28 at their home on MusgroVe Street . Christinas decorations were used throughout the receiving rooms. In the dining room the table, covered with red overlaid with lace, was centered with a lovely arangement of pine, berries and gold burrs. A salad plate, ham biscuits, cako, soffee and punch were served with other party dainties. Births ELLISON Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Ellison an nounce the birth of a daughter, Patricia Lynn, on December 15. CO. ‘ 25th Anniversary Observed By Society The Woman’s Society of Chris tian Service of Broad Street Methodist Church met Monday afternoon in Hodges Hall. During the business session is was announced that the Febru ary meeting would be held joint ly with all the circles and the Guild at which time Prof. Ron ald Burnside, of the Presbyterian College faculty', would give a talk on “The United Nations.” 'A Scripture and prayer was given by Mrs. George Reid, and a talk on “Mothers of Other Cul tures” presented by Mrs. Ray mond Pitts. A social hpur followed at which time the twenty-fifth anniver sary of becoming a member of the Woman’s Society was ob served with a cake cutting. The table was centered with a cake, bearing twenty-five candles. Tea was served by Mrs. Albert S. Harvey, and cake by the presi dent, Mrs. Dan Yarborough. After the candles were blown the “wish” for the society was made by Mrs. J. B. Wilder. Reminiscences from meetings held' prior to joining the society were read by Mrs. Pitts. PERSONAL MENTION Mrs. Frank Miller returned Saturday from spending the holi days with her daughter, Mrs. L. H. Hardy, Dr. Hardy and family in Camden. Mr. and Mrs. Sarnie Pinson and children of Greenville were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Milford Smith and family on Sun day. Mrs. H. E. Sturgeon and daughter, Miss Jane Sturgeon of Durham, N. C., spent Christmas with their son and brother, H. E. Sturgeon Jr., and family in Sa vannah, Georgia. VISITORS FROM INDIANA Mr. and Mrs. Donald R. Wins low and son Ford of Blooming ton, Indiana spent the holidays with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Thomason. Be fore returning home, Mr. Wins low attended a three day meet ing in Montreal, Canada, where he conducted an International Science Meeting. He is head of the Science and Biology Depart ment at the University School of Indiana. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Wy man Shealy visited their son, Wyman Shealy, Jr., and Mrs. Shealy in Orangeburg. They were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. H, R. Jones who were guests of their son, Van Jones, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Grady Chandler spent Christmas Day with Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Chandler in Spartanburg. Others joining them there were Mrs. R. S. Horton of this city; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Chandler of Colum bia; Mr. and Bin. Sam Earl and Mrs. Louise McCartney of Laurens. Mr. and Mrs. Julian Reynolds and daughter, Shirley, have re turned to the city after spending the holidays with their son and brother, Dr. and Mrs. Robert Reynolds, and family in Natch ez, Miss. - ' Mrs. Vida Mae Barnett and son, Donald, Mr. and Mrs. Ches ter Padgett, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mhrtin and children of Char lotte, N. Eleanor Shealy of -Orange burg, spent last week with her grandparents, Blr. and Bln. Wy man Shealy. On New Year’s Day Mr. and Bln. Shealy accompan ied her to Newberry where she joined her mother for the return trip home. Bliss Jane Griffith was the guest of Blr. and Bln. William Chisholm over the week-end, coming especially to'go to Mem phis, Tenn., with Miss Pat Chis holm and Keaton Holden to at tend the wedding of Bliss Betty Chisholm. Both Bliss Griffith and Bliss Chisholm were brides maid*. Keith Trammell, Billy Hamer,' and Philip Wilson left Tuesday for Camden.
