A. Ropp, office manager. The same county committee will serve for another year, hut file delegates made a change in the chairmanship. Fred S. Stoddard was elected chairman, Hugh B. Workman, vice chair man; and Sam B. Fleming, reg ular member. J. T. Hollings worth will serve as first altor- 0 „ nate to the county committee and Sam B. Fleming regular member. J. T. Hollingsworth will serve as first alternate to the county committee and Milton S. Woods, the second alternate. In the community committee elections, in order of chairman, vice chairman, regular member, first and second alternates, by township, the following were elected to serve for the year be ginning October I : Cross Hill township: John L. Both county and community •ommittees are made up of farmers who are taking part or me eligible to take part in on! or more of the farm progams which they administer. Community committees include three farm er-members elected by other eligible fanners in each com munity. Programs administered by the farmer-committeemen in clude the agricultural conserva tion program, acreage allot- ' menu, marketing quotas, com modity loans, the feed grain 4 program, the voluntary wheat program, the national wool pro gram, farm storage facility loans, and others assigned to them by the Secretary of Agri culture. Spartanburg Fair To Open October 12 A busy round of agricultural, purebred livestock, farm youth, cultural and educational evenU — with thousands of dollars in prises pending — will begin Mon day, Oct. 12, for Laurens County and other visitors to the 10th an nual Piedmont Interstate Fair at Spartanburg. < The six counties and two states exposition is all set for a six days and nights run dally and evenings until midnight through Saturday, Oct. 17, President Paul Black reported today. The many featured attractions, topped by the Piedmont-wide Houes of Flowers and the Alaska- themed Arts Department, will be open all week with free admis sion to thronging art and flora enthusiasts. Scheduled Tuesday, Oct. 13, are two other popular Piedmont Fair events — the Parade of Marching High School Bands and the livestock fitting and show ing contest for farm boys and girls from numerous counties. Charter member Fair counties are Spartanburg, Cherokee, Union and Laurens, South Caro lina; and Polk and Ruthetfprg, North Carolina. Free fireworks adjacent to the grandstand are on tap for every evening throughout Fab* Week. Judging of agricultural pro ducts will begin Tuesday. Cattle judging will start the same day and continue into Wednesday. Free admission school days are Oct. 13 for Cherokee, Lau rens, Polk, Rutherford, Spartan burg and Untoa counties; Oct. 14 for colored schools in all Fair counties; and Oct. 16 for the City of Spartanburg.
