of Laurens, became the bride
of Jesse Delleney Ruff, Jr., of
Columbia, at 5:00 p. m., Sep
tember IS, at the First Metho
dist Church in Laurens. The
Rev. James H. Martin, pastor,
performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of
Mrs. W. Hummel Harley and
the late Mr. Harley of Laurens.
She is also the granddaughter
of the late Governor and Mrs.
Joseph Emile Harley of Barn
well and Mrs. C. S. Monteith
of Columbia.
The bridegroom is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. J. Delleney
Ruff of Cohunbia, and the
grandson of the late Mr. and
Mrs. David Crosby Ruff of
Columbia and the late Mr. and
Mrs. John Hugh Stackhouse of
Dillon.
Given in marriage by her
brother, Colin E. Harley, the
bride wore a full length wed
ding gown of pure silk satin
designed with square neckline
and contour sleeves. The fit
ted bodice was encrusted with
mdallions of pearls and irri-
descents and the Empire skirt
featured soft pleats at the
waist, with a large double fold
at the back. Her triple tier veil
of French illusion was attach
ed to a demi-crown of pearls
and irridescents. The bride
carried a bouquet of white
feathered tuberoses, centered
with a white orchid.

The bride was escorted to
the altar by her brother, John
William Cannon, and was given
in marriage by her father. She
wore a short wedding gown of
Chantilly lace and organza over
taffeta. The scalloped sabrina
neckline pas embroidered with
seed pearls and sequins. The
skirt was designed with lace
appliquerd on the front panels,
and controlled back fullness,
topped with a self bow at the
bodice edge. She wore a short
madonna veil over a pearl
trimmed tiara and carried a
white Bible given by the Y. W.
A.’s of her churuch, covered
with feathered pom poms and
carnations. Her only Jewelry
was a single strand of pearis
belonging to her maternal
grandmother.

cousin of the bride, was ma
tron of honor. She wore a
street length dress of beige ba
tiste with a full skirt and a
bolero Jacket embroidered in
pink. Her headpiece was a
Dior bow and her flowers were

On Friday afternoon, Septem
ber 4, Miss Elise Marshall and
Donald Snider were united to
marriage at the home of the
bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Wallace Marshall, to Joanna.
The double ring ceremony was
performed by the Reverend Bra-
xell of Whitmire, before a set
ting of pink and white gladioli.
The bride’s dress was of white
with a lace bodice, round neck,
line, with full length skirt. She
carried a pink camellia.
For their wedding trip to the
mountains of North Carolina the
bride changed to a green sheath
dress with light tan accessories.
They will make their home for
the present with the groom’s
mother, Mrs. Roy Snider. His
father is deceased.

Lansing, Mich.

Sower,” and Scripture readings
were given by Mrs. J. B. Wil
der, followed with a meditation
given by Mrs. Bell* Henderson

“Change In Advertising Code
For Cigarettes,” were present,

their wedding guests in the lobby
of the church following the cere

The bride’s dress was of beige
silk, sheath style, with which she
used bone shoes. She wore a
beige tulle hat with raised crown
and pleated brim, yellow wrist-
length gloves, and a shoulder
corsage of yellow rose buds.
The couple will make their
home in Spartanburg where the
groom is associated with Duke
Power Company At the present
time, the groom is commuting
while the bride completes her
work as an office employee with
Joanna Cotton Mills Company.
