Mr. and Mrs. Albert Whitman and daughter of Woodruff are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Jonas Sample and Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Whitman. Mr. and Mrs. Tommie Bea man and son Robert Whitsel and son visited Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Whitsel in Hull Ga., last week. Mrs. H. A. Caughman, Mrs. Paul Foster, and Mrs. Robert Whitsel visited Mr. and Mrs. Junior Garner in Chester last Monday. The Clinton and Lydia Horizon Group returned Friday from a week’s stay at the beach. All sixteen girls sucessfully finished the first aid course. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Kernell, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Satterfield and Mrs. Jackie Bigham and son, were called to Westminster due to the death of Mrs. J. D. Dunlap. She is the aunt of Mrs. Kernell and Mrs. Satterfield. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Collier of Florida spent last week with the William Heatons. Mr. Bill Crowell and children are making their home here while Bill is overseas. The W.S.C.S. of BaUey Memo rial had their annual family pic nic Monday night August 3rd at Mrs. Edgar Dunaway's on Whit mire Highway. Miss Jane Wofford and Miss Pam McFadden of Atlanta, Ga., spent last week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Heaton, Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Creswell spent alst week-end at Lake City, S. C. Mrs. Eva Land left Sunday for Chicago. She is at the Sherwood Music school for two weeks. SICKNESS David Owens is confined at home with the flu. Mrs. Paul White is a patient in Charleston hospital. She is a sister of Mrs. Winford Samples. WEDDING ANNIVERSARIES Mr. and Mrs. Claude Kernell Jr., and Mrs. Clyde Brazill cele brated their anniversaries on August 1st, and Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Butler on August 8th. BIRTHDAY PARTY Little Steve Martin had a birth day party Saturday at his some. There were 29 children present. His mother, Mrs. Kenneth Mar tin, Mrs. Rose Neal from Whit mire, and Mrs. Bennie Neal of N. C., Mrs. Barbara Eaton serv ed sandwiches, potato chips, cake and coke. Steve received many gifts. Mrs. J. C. Lawson and chil dren visited Mr. and Mrs. Colie Abercrombie in Ga., last week. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Sanders and Mike visited R. D. Smith in Augusta, Ga., last week-end. Thompson, 71, was died Friday were conducted at 1 p.m. Sun day at McEwen Funeral Home in Charlotte by Rev. Leonard Topping. Burial was in Rose- mont Cemetery, Clinton. Pallbearers were Dillard Mi’am Jr., BUI MUam, B. B. Ballard, Bluford Copeland, DU- lard Boand and Mason Simp son. His wife, Mrs. Emmie Ray Thompson lives at 422 Tyson St.,, Charlotte. Mrs. Dilleshaw Mrs. Annie Bell Dilleshaw, 80, widow of J. W. DUieshaw, died early Saturday morning at Bailey Memorial Hospital. A native of Greenwood Coun ty, she lived in Calhoun FaUs 30 years before moving here a year ago to live with her daughter, Mrs. Isabelle Ham rick at 201 Gordon St. Her par ents were the late John and Martha Deal Bell and she was a member of Calhoun Falls Bap tist Church. Surviving in addition to her daughter are two sons, H. D. Dilleshaw of JacksonvUle, Ala., and M. S. Dilleshaw of Chicago, III., seven grandchUdren and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were con ducted Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Gray Funeral Home by Rev. Tommy Moore and Rev. J. L. Jenkins. Burial was in Edge- wood Cemetery at Greenwoods Mrs. Abercrombie Laurens — rMs. Lola Peterson Abercrombie, 84, widow of Paul K. Abercrombie, died at 6 a.m. Thursday at a local hospital after several years of declining health. A native and lifelong resident of Laurens County, daughter of the late John WUUam and Janie Donnan Peterson, she was a member of Sandy Springs Meth odist Church where she served as a steward 30 years. Surviving are three sons, W. P. and C. E. Abercrombie of Rt. 1, Laurens, and J. W. Abercrom bie of Lapunte, California; four daughters, Mrs. Jessie A. Ro berge of Charleston, Mrs. Mills A. Ashcraft of Denmark, Mrs. Pauline A. Fanning of Rt. 1, Laurens, and Mrs. Elizabeth A. Godfrey of North Augusta; a brother, William Peterson of Greenville; three sisters, Mrs. Ella P. j Groce, Mrs. Alma P. Pryor and Miss Lydia Peterson of Greenville; eight grandchil dren and eight great-grandchil dren. Funeral services were conduc ted at 4 p.m. Friday at Sandy Springs Methodist Church by Rev. Teague Mountville — Carl Howard Teague, 90, of Rt. 1 Mountville, died Tuesday night, July 28, at a Greenwood hospital after three months of illness. A native of Laurens County where he spent his entire life, he was a son of the late W. L. and Corrie V. Wilkinson Teague He was a member of Beaver- dam Baptist Church.
