Mrs. R. P. Chapman, past president, presided in the ab sence of the president, Mrs. P. M. Pitts. Mention was made — that the forty-fifth anniversary is being observed by the Auxili ary and Legion. Mrs. B. F. Wingard, chair man of Community Service, had charge of the program and in troduced the speaker, Mrs. Rich ard W. Ulrich, wso used as her ^ topic, “Community Planning \ and Volunteer Work,” giving highlights of the volunteer work at Whitten Village. Arrangements of daffodils, for- sythia, and Japanese magnolia were used. Following the program the hostesses, Mrs. Shealy, Mrs. L. S. Reddeck, Mrs. W. R. Pitts, Mrs. Joe HoUand and Mrs. Thomas Ramage, served a salad plate with hot punch. Laurens Garden Show Next Week The Daffodil Garden Club of Laurens wil Isponsor a flower show on Tuesday and Wednes day, March 24th and 25th, at f the Laurens County Library. There will be artistic, horticul tural, and educational, divisions for the show entitled “Daffy Goes Uterary.” There will be no ad mission charge. This is the ninth year the club has held the show which ties in with the Laurens beautification project. Hours are from 12 noon tO/t p.m. on Tuesday and 9 a.ip^to 12 noon on Wednesday. Entries which are open to anyone must be received from 9-11:30 a.m. Tuesday. King-Owens Rites Event of Easter Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Fellers of Route t, Newberry, an nounce the engagament of their daughter, Mary Jane, to Mr. Joseph P. Dailey, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Dailey of this City. Miss Fellers is a graduate of Newberry College and a member, of the Lancaster High School faculty. Mr. Dailey is a student at Presbyterian College and is employed by the Torrington Company. The wedding will take place June 14. "Spring Fantasy" To Be Presented The Garden clubs of the city will present a spring flower show Monday, March 23, at the Episcopal Church Parish house on Calvert Avenue. The public is cordially invited to see a dis play of flower arrangement and horticulture. Artistic entries must be made by Friday, March 20. Entries are not limited to gar den club members. Anyone in terested in making an entry, please contact Mrs. D. G. Crieghton. The horticulture division will consist of any plant material grown for foliage or bloom, pot plants, dish gardnes, bulbs, succulents, and any flowers in bloom. Entries must be made between the hours of 9:00 and 11:00 on Monday, March 23, at the Parish House. An award of merit wm be presented to the best entry in the horticulture division. Mrs. I. O. Ray and Mrs. Arthur Benjamin are co- chairmen of the entries. An added attraction of the show will be a display of the personal collection of flower containers by Mrs. Fred Hol combe. Mrs. Sobia Hostess To Bridge Club Mrs. Ralph Sabia was hostess to members of her bridge club on Thursday evening at 8:00 at her home on Lakewood Drive. Following several progressions of bridge, Charles Hollis, Jr., and Mrs. John McBride were score winners. The hostess served a dessert course with coffee later in the evening. Mrs. Smith Hostess To Club Members Mrs. Avery Smith was hostess to members of her bridge club on Friday afternoon at her home on South Holland Street. Each member is asked to bring a spring arrangement of fresh flowers which wiU be dis cussed and judged by the members. Bride-To-Be Has Clinton Relatives Montgomery, Ala. — Mr. and Mrs. Johnson Dotte Henry an nounce the forthcoming marri age of their daughter, Miriam, to Jerry Wayne Bryan of Forest Park, Ga. The wedding will be solemniz ed March 28 in Covenant Pres byterian Church. Mr. Henry is a native of Greenwood, and is the son of Mrs. Ideal O. Henry and the late Dotte H. Henry. Mrs. Henry is the former Sara Rae Coleman of Clinton, the daughter of Mrs. Carrie C. The ceremony was performed in the parlor of the Aiken Presbyterian Church with the Reverend James L. Good win officiating. Mr. McLendon is the son of Mrs. Herbert H. McLendon and the late Mr. McLendon of Daw son, Georgia. Mr. and Mrs. McLendon are making their home at 3107 Lake Forest Drive, Augusta, Ga. To Live In Roebuck After Florida Trip Miss Nancy Marea Cole, commercial teacher at Thorn- weU High School, was married to Lewis Layton Harrison, Jr., of Rt. 1, Roebuck, Sunday af ter morning worship at Mount Calvary Presbyterian Church. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lon nie M. Cole of North Charles ton, ,she was educated at Fur man University. Mr. Harrison is the son of Mrs. Eloise Harrison of Route 1, Roebuck, and the late Lewis Harrison. He is a farmer and feed dealer. He and the bride wUl Uve at Ruote 1, Roebuck, after Sunday, when they return from a trip to Florida. Rev. Ed Graham heard the vows, with music by Miss Sue Miller and James C. Turner. Wendell Christopher served as best man, and Crawford Lee Miller as usher. The bride was given in mar riage by her brother, Donald Cole. She wore a waltz-length dress with matching taffeta pillbox. The all-lace bodice featured a shallow V-shape neckline, and the softly pleated taffeta skirt featured back in terest. An orchid adorned her Bible. A native and lifelong resident of Laurens County, daughter of the late Robert and Sally Taylor Weeks, she was a member of Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church. Her husband was the late Elecious Pulley. Surviving are a son, W. Mar vin Pulley of Laurens; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Funeral services were conduc ted Sunday at 2 p.m. at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church by Rev. Mrs. Hendrix Laurens — Mrs. Estelle Jones | Hendrix, 77, of Rt. 2, Laurens, died in a local hospital early Tuesday after an illness of three weeks. She was a native of Laurens County, daughter of the late Charlie and Frances Baker j Jones, and was a member of Liberty Springs Presbyterian Church. , Surviving are two sons, Har old Hendrix of Laurens and Wal-1 ter B. Hendrix of Jacksonville, Fla.; five daughters, Mrs. Wheeler Nelson and Mrs. Grady ] Cannon of Laurens; Mrs. W. A.
