CLYDE TRAMMELL, Correspondent, Representative TELEPHONE Mrs. Fred Mathis and son, Clyde Revis, were recent over night guests of her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Am brose Carter. Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Whitmire and Roger were called to Ware Shoals Saturday evening due to the,death of her sister, Mrs. Hen ry Davis. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon. t Mrs. Kathleen Taylor of En- oree, was a recent guest of her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Emery. Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Lanford, ,Mrs. Sam Pmice and Miss Ro berta Prince visited in Greenville on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. David Word and Misses Sue Word and Marie Weir were business visitors in Spar tanburg Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Weston Barnett of Greenville, recently visited his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Templeton. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Pearson and Debbie of Greenville, are spending a few days with the former’s parents, Rev. and Mrs. Frank Pearson. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Blackwell and family of Orangeburg, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Miller and family of Batesburg, spent Sun day with Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Birch more. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Berry and children of Fork Shoals, vis ited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bodie, Saturday evening. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Charles Patterson and children. Chuck and Nancy of Inman, and Mrs. Mary Patterson of Clinton, were dinner guests of the Bodies. Tony Black, SN, stationed aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS Intrepid, with the home in Nor folk, Va., spent the week-end with Mrs. Black and daughter, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Black, Jr. He has just re turned from a six weeks Carib bean cruise. Mrs. Claude Gilstrap, Jr., spent the week-end in Greenville with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. I. J. Fair. On Sunday Nathan Gilstrap of Clemson College, and Miss Sue Word joined Mrs. Gil strap and others of the Fair fam ily for a dinner celebrating Mr. and Mrs. Fair’s 50th wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Fellers of Newberry, visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Black, Jr., Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Price of Abbeville, spent Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Gallman. , Mr. and Mrs. David H. Roberts were Saturday overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Neel in Charlotte, N. C. Marvin Todd of Laurens, visit ed S. J. Todd and Mr. and Mrs. Homer Fuller Sunday. J. B, Roberts and Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Sargent of Lyman, visited Sunday with their son and brother, David E. Roberts, and Mrs. Roberts. Sp. 4 Raymond Kuykendall has received a discharge (torn the Army at Redstone Arsenal, Ala. After spending a week at home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Kuykendall, he has return ed to Washington, D. C., where he is connected with a division of the FBI. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Rich- burg of Camden, were recent guests of her sister, Mrs. Kuyken dall, and Mr. Kuykendall. HUSBANDS INVITED TO CLUB SOCIAL The Lydia Woman’s Club will meet tonight (Thursday^ at 7:00 at, the Community Building for their annual February social, to which husbands of members will be guests. A covered dish supper will be served. All members are urged to at tend with their guest. BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT Birchmore Mr. and Mrs. Frank Birchmore are receiving congratulations on the birth of a daughter, Kimberly Ann, on February 5 at Bailey Me morial hospital. PINK AND BLUE SHOWERS ENJOYED McEDuumon Mrs. Joel McElhannon was honoree at a pink and blue show* er on Friday evening at the Ly dia Community Building. Several appropriate games were enjoyed by the guests, af ter which party refreshments were enjoyed. Mrs. McElhannon was present ed a novelty corsage and a host of gifts from the guests. Hostesses were Mrs. Billy Wil lard, Mrs. Maxie Davis, Mrs. James McElhannon, and Mrs. Claude McElhannon of Green wood. • • • Saturday evening Mrs. Carl Lusk and Misses Faye Bailey and Charlene Evans honored Mrs Fred Smith at the Lydia Com munity Building with a pink and blue shower. After a number of games and contests party refreshments were served the guests. Many nice gifts were presented to the honoree, who opened and passed them. • • • Oswalt The ladies of the Lydia Church of God were hostesses at a love ly pink and blue shower in honor of Mrs. Alvin Oswalt on Friday evening at the home of Mrs Frank Pearson. A number of appropriate games were enjoyed by the large number of ladies present. Refreshments of sandwiches, cookies, mints and punch were served. Mrs. Oswalt was remembered with many gifts. LYDIA BOY KING OF HEARTS Congratulations to Terry Fuller on being crowned Kink of Hearts of Clinton High School. Terry is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Fuller. WITH THE SICK Lewis Stone is recuperating at his home after a recent appen dectomy. Mrs. Ruby Dunnaway is able to be out after several days in Bailey Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Charles Templeton has been a patient at Bailey Memo rial Hospital. % * F rends are sorry to know that Francis and Becky Cooper are ill. Little Polly Gallman was a pa tient at Bailey Memorial Hospi tal over the week-end. Mrs. Jamie Miller remains ill at Bailey Memorial Hospital. PRIVIDENCE SCHOOL KING AND QUEEN Ronnie Abercrombie, son of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Abercrombie was .crowned King of Hearts and Lynn Jenkins daughter of Mrs. Sarah Jenkins was crowned Queen of Hearts at Providence School, Friday. . TEENAGERS CLASS PARTY A Valentine party was enjoyed Friday evening by the Teenagers Sunday School Class of the Lydia Pentecostal Holiness Church, at the home of the teacher, Rev. After several Valentine games the group enjoyed cookies and punch. Later they drove to the Carolina Drive-In in Laurens for hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks. SWEETHEART BANQUET The Social Hall of the Lydia Baptist Church was lovely in its Valentine dress on Thursday eve ning when the Intermediate De partment and the Single Young People of the Young People’s De partment of the Church Sunday School enjoyed a Sweetheart Banquet. The guests came through a large red and white heart into the hall where hearts, cupids and flowers abounded. The buffet table was overlaid with a white cloth. In the center was a double heart arrangement of roses with lighted red tapers on either side. Lighted candles were on each of the tables where the young people were seated. A couple of games were played following din ner. ^ Rev. James Mitchel of Joanna was guest speaker. Mrs. Mitchell and Mr. and Mrs. John Gallman were also guests. BIRTHDAYS, ANNIVERSARIES Mrs. Maxie Davis and Mrs. Vernon Ginn will celebrate their joint birthdays Feb. 96. /■ Columbus Hughes *will cele brate his birthday Feb. 25. Feb. 27 will be the birthday of Mrs. Addle Bee Coleman. - Mrs. David Word will observe her birthday Feb. 22. Mrs. C. A. Campbell will cele brate her birthday Feb. 25. HAROLD AUSTIN, Correspondent WORLD SCISSION SEASON The World Mission season Is being observed by members of the Liberty Springs Presbyte rian Church during February. Sunday evening, February 2, the Rev. and Mrs. John Elling ton of Columbia Theological Seminary, Decatur, Ga., mis sionary appointees to the Code go, spoke and showed slides taken on a tour of Africa by Mrs. Ellington at the church. Family night, with world mission emphasis, was held Friday evening at 6:30 at the church. Following supper prepared by the Women of the Church the film, “Taiwan Diary,” was shown and the offering for World Missions .was taken.
