the,death of her sister, Mrs. Hen
ry Davis. Funeral services were
held Monday afternoon. t
Mrs. Kathleen Taylor of En-
oree, was a recent guest of her
brother and sister-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Floyd Emery.
Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Lanford,
,Mrs. Sam Pmice and Miss Ro
berta Prince visited in Greenville
on Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. David Word and
Misses Sue Word and Marie Weir
were business visitors in Spar
tanburg Saturday.

of Greenville, recently visited his
sister and brother-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Harry Templeton.

spending a few days with the

Mr. and Mrs. Bud Blackwell

day with Mr. and Mrs. Charlie

Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Berry

ited her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Bodie, Saturday evening.
On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Patterson and children. Chuck
and Nancy of Inman, and Mrs.
Mary Patterson of Clinton, were
dinner guests of the Bodies.
Tony Black, SN, stationed
aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS
Intrepid, with the home in Nor
folk, Va., spent the week-end
with Mrs. Black and daughter,
and his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
J. A. Black, Jr. He has just re
turned from a six weeks Carib
bean cruise.
Mrs. Claude Gilstrap, Jr.,
spent the week-end in Greenville
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
I. J. Fair. On Sunday Nathan
Gilstrap of Clemson College, and
Miss Sue Word joined Mrs. Gil
strap and others of the Fair fam
ily for a dinner celebrating Mr.
and Mrs. Fair’s 50th wedding
anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Fellers
of Newberry, visited her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Black, Jr.,
Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Price
of Abbeville, spent Thursday with
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Gallman.

were Saturday overnight guests
of Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Neel in
Charlotte, N. C.
Marvin Todd of Laurens, visit
ed S. J. Todd and Mr. and Mrs.
Homer Fuller Sunday.
J. B, Roberts and Mr. and
Mrs. J. E. Sargent of Lyman,
visited Sunday with their son and
brother, David E. Roberts, and
Mrs. Roberts.
Sp. 4 Raymond Kuykendall has
received a discharge (torn the
Army at Redstone Arsenal, Ala.
After spending a week at home
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
C. R. Kuykendall, he has return
ed to Washington, D. C., where
he is connected with a division of
the FBI. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Rich-
burg of Camden, were recent
guests of her sister, Mrs. Kuyken
dall, and Mr. Kuykendall.

The Lydia Woman’s Club will
meet tonight (Thursday^ at 7:00
at, the Community Building for
their annual February social, to
which husbands of members will
be guests.
A covered dish supper will be
served.

The ladies of the Lydia Church
of God were hostesses at a love
ly pink and blue shower in honor
of Mrs. Alvin Oswalt on Friday
evening at the home of Mrs
Frank Pearson.
A number of appropriate
games were enjoyed by the large
number of ladies present.
Refreshments of sandwiches,
cookies, mints and punch were
served.
Mrs. Oswalt was remembered
with many gifts.

the group enjoyed cookies and
punch. Later they drove to the
Carolina Drive-In in Laurens for
hot dogs, hamburgers and
drinks.
SWEETHEART BANQUET
The Social Hall of the Lydia
Baptist Church was lovely in its
Valentine dress on Thursday eve
ning when the Intermediate De
partment and the Single Young
People of the Young People’s De
partment of the Church Sunday
School enjoyed a Sweetheart
Banquet.
The guests came through a
large red and white heart into
the hall where hearts, cupids and
flowers abounded.
The buffet table was overlaid
with a white cloth. In the center
was a double heart arrangement
of roses with lighted red tapers
on either side.
Lighted candles were on each
of the tables where the young
people were seated. A couple of
games were played following din
ner. ^
Rev. James Mitchel of Joanna
was guest speaker. Mrs. Mitchell
and Mr. and Mrs. John Gallman
were also guests.
