Miss Bootsie Horton of Sumter, arrived Friday for a two weeks visit with her parents and fam ily, MT. and Mrs. Horace Horton. Frankie Caston, Jr., of Colum bia, spent the past week-end with Brent Holcomb. On Sunday they were joined by Dr. and Mrs. Cas ton, who accompanied Frankie home. Friends of W. R. Anderson will be interested to know he is a pa* tient at Bailey Memorial Hos pital following an operation ill- nes and stay at Self Memorial hospital in Greenwood. Rev. and Mrs. Jack Crandall of Chester, will spend Christmas Day with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Hamer. Arriving over the week-end to spend the Christmas holidays >vith their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard M. Wilson, were their sons, Phillip, of the Camden Military College, and Carl of Cin cinnati, Ohio. Mrs. W. O. Bradford of Char lotte, N. C., will spend several days with her son and daughter- in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James H. Bradford, during the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. John Mooney and children of Evansville, Ind., spent several days-recently with the latter’s sister,>Mrs. Leonard M. Wilson, and Mr. Wilson. Ned Handback of the Univer sity of Georgia, Athens, arrived this week-end to spend the holi days with his parents, Mr. and Mr.s Rufus Handback. Allen Barron of the University of Virginia, is home with his pa rents, Mr. and Mrs. Barron in Joanna. Dr, and Mrs. David T. Professor and Mrs. Melvin Riggs and son, Mike, were in Atlanta, Ga., recently to meet their daughter. Miss Donna K. Riggs, who flew in to be with her parents over the holidays. Miss Riggs is teacher of physial edu cation in Vincennes, Ind. Miss Jane Sturgeon arrived Saturday for a visit with her mother, Mrs. H. E. Sturgeon, over the holidays. Mrs. Daisy Turner of Atlanta, Ga., and Mrs. R. A. Cason of Rayle, Ga., were week-end visi tors of relatives here, coming es pecially to be with R. A. Cason, a patient in Self Memorial hos pital, Greenwood, and to visit Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Cason. Mr. and Mrs. James T. Smith and sons, Mike and Ronnie, of Columbia, were guests of the lat ter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Holland, on Sunday. Mike and Ronnie remained for several days vsiit with their grandpa rents. On Christmas Day they will be accompanied home by their grandmother. HAVE CHRISTMAS PARTY Mrs. Clyde' McCrary enter tained h rechildren on Sunday for lunch. Afterwards they en joyed the Christmas tree and the exchanging of gifts. Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Cason, Mrs. Daisy Turner and Mrs. R. A. Cason motored for a family reunion on Saturday, December 21, to Mrs. Cason’s sister, Mrs. Reba Wansley, in Iva. Mr. and Mrs. George E. Sim mons of Charlotte, N. C., spent Sunday with Mrs. Hugh Simpson, aunt of Mrs. Simmons. Mrs. L. E. Cason’s sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lester B. Bowden, Sr, of Chatta nooga, Tenn., will arrive Sunday to be here for the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Sowers had as their guests Sunday Mr. and Mrs. John Allen Dugan of Sumter, Mr. and Mrs. David Bledsoe and sons of Greenwood. Cpl. Jim Chaney of Cherry Point, N. Whitmire was honored with a birthday dinner on Sun day at his home. Enjoying this happy occasion with Mr. Whitmire were Mr. and Mrs. AUen White and cluldren, Ms. Vera White, Don and Rich ard White, Mrs. Whitmire and Roger Whitmire. TEENAGERS HAVE PARTY The teenagers of the Pentecost al Holiness Church Sunday school enjoyed a Christmas party at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Roscoe Bryan on Monday eve ning of last week. Mrs. Maxie Davis directed sev eral entertaining games, after which the group of about 16 ex changed gifts from under the tree. They enjoyed eats at the Carolina Drive-In in Laurens to climax the enjoyable evening. WITH THE SICK ' Little Gail Eustace is a patient in the General hospital in Green vUle. W. N. Nabors is a patient at Bailey Memorial Hospital. Wayne Abercrombie is a medi cal patient at BaUey Memorial Hospital. His mother, Mrs. Billy Abercrombie, is home after sev eral days in the hospital. Mrs. J. T. HamUton was a pa tient at Bailey Memorial Hos pital a few days lastweek. WATCH NIGHT SERVICE There wiU be prayer meeting and a watch night service at the Lydia Baptist Church Tuesday evening, December 31, from 8:00 p. m. to 12:01 a. m. Rev. J. Allen Smith of Laurens, home on furlough as a mission ary to the Philppineg, wUl speak at the watch night service. The public is cordialUy invited. BAPTIST CHRISTMAS PARTIES ENJOYED The social hall of the Lydia Baptist Church is very prettily decorated in the Christmas motif for the parties being held thee. Against one wall is a large fire place with candles on the mantel. A lovely tree is beside the fire place. Rev. M. J. Sanders and son, Arty Joe, decorated the hall. * * * On Tuesday evening of last week Miss Mary Johnson’s Sun day school class enjoyed a party there. Games were directed by Mrs. R. E. Whitmire, after which fruit cake, coffee and other party dainties were served j The 9-10 year old girls’ Sunday school class enjoyed a Christmas party in the church social hall Saturday afternoon. After several games the girls were served refreshments by Mrs. John Tucker, teacher. ^ Gifts were exchanged by the girls. , * • * , Thursday evening 37 members of the Training Union gathered in the social hall for a party. Miss Gloria Jackson, Trailing Union director, was in charge of the party. Games were under the direction of Mrs. R. E. Whitmire. Cookies, assorted candies, nuts and punch were served from the buffet table. * * * The 13-year-old girls’ Sunday school class, with Mrs. M. J. Sanders, teacher, enjoyed their Christmas party Saturday eve ning in |he social hall. After several appropriate games, party refereshments were enjoyed. Each girl received a gift from under the lighted tree. i * * * The Extension Department party was held Friday morning in the social hall. Brenda Hinson and Malcolm Sanders sang for the group ‘The Christmas Story,” from Luke 2. was given by Mrs. Sidney Oak ley. Mrs. Fred Mathis, director of the department, was in charge of the program. Refreshments were served to the group and a gift was present ed to each member. * • • CIRCLE PARTIES HELD The Omathine Dabbs circle of the Baptist church Woman’s Mis sionary Society met at the home of Mrs. M. J. Sanders for the annual tChristmas party last Tuesday[ey$ning. The Sanders home was very lovely in the traditonal . Christ mas motif. The aldies enjoyed several ap propriate games before Santa Claus distributed his gifts. Gifts for the Lottie Moon Christmas offering were given by the ladies. The hostess served refreshments in keeping with the season. * * * The Kathleen Walker circle en joyed a buffet luncheon on Wed nesday at the home of Mrs. Clyde Trammell. The table was covered with a red cloth with an ^arrangement of greenery, berries and candles in the center. Each lady brought p dish for the meal. Places were set in the living room where red and white cloths covered these tables with lighted candles centering each one. Games were directed by Mr§. R. E.
