lotte, N. C., accompanied her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. C.
Smith, to Yidalia, Ga., for the
week-end where they were guests
of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Barbee,
Mr. and Mrs. George Bullard.
Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Snelgrove

grove, near Saluda Sunday.

October 29th at the Laurens
County Hospital. Mrs. Flcklin is
the former Martha Williamson of
Laurens. The Ficklins have two
other sons, Jeffery and Robert

BIRTHDAY PARTIES
Mrs. Frank Lee honored her
daughter, Donna on F iday, No
vember 8th with a party to cele-
barte her 9th birthday. Bingo
and blockhead were played with
Susan and Laura Major winning
enjoyed before refreshments of
birthday cake, ice cream and
birthday punch were served.
Candy and balloons were given
as favors to the fourteen guests.
Donna was the recipient of many
nice gifts.
Marsha and Randy Turner en
tertained with a surprise birth
day party Saturday night, No
vember 9th honoring their cous
in, Dana Turner. Games, sing
ing, music and record playing
were enjoyed before refreshments
of sandwiches, potato salad, nuts,
cake and punch were served.
Each one remembered Dana with
a gift. Special guest was Miss
Gail Fuller of Greenwood.

R. T. White is convalescing at
home after being a patient at
Bailey Memorial Hospital for
several days.
Mrs. Darrell (Clara) Foster
was a surgical patient at Bailey
Memorial Hospital last week.

tient at Self Memorial Hospital
in Greenwood.
Mrs. Billy (Alma) Reynolds,
daughter of Rev. and Mrs. J. W.
Spillers, is a surgical patient at
the Fountain Inn Clinic.
Foster McLaine, III, was a pa
tient at Bailey Memorial Hos
pital last week after receiving
a broken foot injury.
CHURCH NEWS
Rev. James Huey will have as
his guests on Sunday morning’s
radio program “Church of the
Air” heard over WPCC at 8
o’clock, a group of young ladies
from the Bailey Memorial Meth
odist Church.
Rev. J. W. Spillers, pastor of
the Calvary Baptist Church has
been attending the South Caro
lina Baptist State Convention in
Charleston this week.
There will be a Royal Ambas
sador Leadership Clinic for the
Laurens Association held Mon
day and Tuesday nights, Novem
ber 18th and 19th at the Lucas
Avenue Baptist Church in Lau
rens at 7:15 p.m. for all R. A.
Counselor leaders, pastors and
members of the Brotherhood who
are interested in learning more
about the Royal Ambassador
program.
Jimmy Hughes, son of Mr. and
Mrs. J. H. Hughes was ordained
to the Gospel Ministry at the
morning worship service Sunday,
November 10th at Calvary Bap-,
tist Church. A graduate of Pres
byterian College. Rev. Hughes is
now attending the Southern Bap
tist Theological Seminary in Lou-
isvillie, Ky. Mrs. Hughes is the
former Martha Jane Horton,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ea$
Horton. They have one daughter,
Terry Katherine.
On Thursday night the T. E. L.
Class of Calvary Baptist Church
met for their regular monthly
meeting at the Community Build
ing. As their project for the
month the group carried fruit to
the County Home where fellow
ship and singing was enjoyed.
The Harriett King Circle of
Calvary Baptist Church met on
Tuesday morning at the home
of Mrs. Troy Bentley. Mrs. Fern
Hardman was in charge of the
program before a social hour
was enjoyed.
The W.S.C.S. of the BaUey
Memorial Methodist Church met
at the home of Mrs. W. R. Snel
grove on Monday night, Novem
ber 4th. Mrs. Cantey Gordon of
the Broad Street Methodist
Church was guest speaker. Mrs.
Boyce Wilson was a visitor. The
hostess served a salad plate dur
ing the sovial hour.
