Bell St. Wildcats To Have
Homecoming Festivities
The Bell Street Wildcats will
take on the Ridge Hill Hornets
of Ridge Spring Friday night in
their annual Homecoming game.
The day's activities will get
underway with a parade through
the business section beginning at
4:30. Featuring the parade will
be a number of bands and floats
from the following schools: Mar
tha Dendy, Woodson, Midway,
Sanders High. Floats will be <
tered by various classes, clubs
and organizations.
The Bell Street High band
members will be decked out in
new uniforms. The band has been
making an excellent showing
this year under the direction of
General Austin. Five majoret
serve with the 31-member band.
The Wildcats were open last
week, so their record remains
5-0 for the season. Coaches Little
and Davenport report the squad
in good physical condition, with
the exception of quarterback
Sherman Rhodes, who suffered a
knee injury in an auto accident
and is a doubtful starter. Full
back Ronald Butler was injured
in the same accident and is out
for the rest of the season with a
broken collar bone.
A win Friday night will put
the Wildcats within one win of
repeating as district champions.
Bluford Cheeks, James Byrd,
James Boyd and James Gbbs are
counted upon to carry the offen
sive load, with Roy Suber, Claude
Simpson, Willie Jones, Luther
Burton and Johnny Peake open
ing the way. The defense will be
led by Leroy Taylor, Clyde Lind-
»ny, Raymond Copeland, Raphael
Holland and Dorse Jenkins and
Ed Young.
