Jackson Columbia spent the
week-end with his sister, Mrs.
Bobby Webb and Mr. Webb. Pvt.
Roland has completed his bzasic
training but will remain station
ed at Fort Jackson for a while
longer while he attends the Sup-
ply School.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Revis were
Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs.
Ralph Bishop in Duncan.

family vsited Mr. and Mrs. Wal
ter Brown in Newberry over the
week-end going especially to
greet their new niece, Jacqueline
Brown who was born Aug. 29.

Columbia, was married to Rob
ert Wayne Gainse, son of Mr.
and Mrs. J. C. Gaines of Kinards
on August 17 at the home of the
officiating minister Rev. James
Mitchell in Joanna.
For her wedding Miss Shel
nut wore a blue sheath with white
net overskirt with white acces
sories. Her corsage was white
carnations. Mrs. Sandy Tucker
was her sister’s only attendant.
She was dressed in light blue
with white accessories.
The young couple are making
their home with the groom’s
parents for the present.
CLASS MEETINNG TONIGHT
The Willing Workers Sunday
School Class of Lydia Baptist
Chruch will have their August
class meeting Thursday (tonight)
at 7:30 p.m. at the church with
all members asked to attend.
Mrs. Mattie Harvey and Mrs.
Matt Davin will be hostesses.
Church “On To College Day”
was observed Sunday at the
Lydia Baptist Church with the
college students having part on
the morning’s program, "In Pur
suit of Purpose.”
The pastor, Rev. M. J. San
ders presented the students with
a copy of the book “The Student*
and Certificates”. Seven church
members will be entering or re
entering college. They are Miss
es Janice Goss and Harriet Wil
son, Ned Hardback, Mack Gaff
ney, Nathan Gilstrap, Bruce
Mills and Gary Goss.

turned to her home after an UP
ness at Bailey Memorial Hospi

Friends are glad to know that
Mr. Fred Bodie is recuperating
at his home after several weeks
serious illness at Bailey Memo
rial Hospital. He is much better
but visitors are limited.
Mrs. Jim Dean was able to re
turn to work Monday after a
week’s illness in the hospital.
Mrs. Marvin Neal has been
a patient in Bailey Memorial Hos
pital.
J. B. Vanderford is ill. Mrs. J.
D. Hairston underwent an ap
pendectomy at Bailey Memorial
Hospital on Wednesday of last
week.
