C., Tharadny, July 18, 196S Parties Given For Miss Georgia Young KITHCEN SHOWER Miss Georgia Young was sur prised last Thursday, July 11, when Mrs. Frank KKeUers and Mrs. Carlton Winn honored the bride-elect with a kitchen show er at the Kellers home. Arrnagements of mixed sum mer flowers were used through out the home. Games and contests were en joyed, followed with party re freshments of frozen fruit salad, sandwiches, cheese biscuits, cookies and punch. Miss Young was presented a shower of many useful gifts for the kitchen. Out of town guests included an aunt of the honoree, Mrs. Bonner Harvley, of Greenwood. FRIDAY LUNCHEON Mrs. Frank Miller, Mrs. Car. roll Nance, and Mrs. Henry Young entertained Miss Geor gia Young with a luncheon Fri day, July 12, at the Miller home on South Broad Street. Juice was served in the living room as the guests assembled. A pink and white color note was beautifully carried out in decorations and refreshments. Guests were seated in the din ing room. The table was dec orated with dahlias and mums with a pink dahlia on a white fan marking the bride-elect’s place. The honoree was remembered with a gift. BUFFET LUNCHEON Mrs. J. Juice, sandwiches, and dip were served on the porch as the guests assembled, later being invited into the dining room where lunch was served buffet style. Sixteen guests were seated at individual tables, with the bride- elect’s place being marked with a rose corsage. Miss Young was remembered with a gift of linen by the host esses. Clinton Bride-Elect Honored With Shower A miscellaneous shower hon oring Miss Susan Terry was given Thursday evening at the Clinton Mill Community Center by Miss Beth Trammell, Mrs. Sam Williams, Miss Maria King, Mrs. Allen Power, Mrs. Hall King, and Mrs. Eva Land. Roses were beautifully ar ranged throughout the receiving rooms. Entertainment for the evening was a mock wedding party pre sented by the hostesses. Following refreshments, the bride-elect was presented many useful gifts for the home. Clinton Parties Honor Miss Wasson MOTHER-DAUGHTER TEA Mrs. B. F. Wingard and her mother, Mrs. Effie Wasson, en tertained with a lovely Mother- Daughter Tea Thursday, July 11 from 4:30 to 6:90 at tbe home of the former for their niece and granddaughter, Syl via Wasson, whose marriage was solemnized Sunday, July 14. A three-tier floral wedding cake made of daisies and ivy centered the. table. In the living room were artistic arrange ments of hydrangeas, roses, and snapdragons. Garden flow ers were used in tbe den. Dainty refreshments were served carrying out the wedding bell motif. Sixty-five friends of the bride from Laurens, Gray Court, Clemson, Hickory Tav ern, and Greenville called dur ing the appointed hours. Miss Wasson was given a bride’s fan with a nosegay made of sweetheart roses at tached to the handle, and silver in her chosen pattern. Those assisting in entertain ing were Mrs. Dallas Dendy, Laurens; Mrs. L^ M. Owens, Gray Court; Mrs. Horace Hor ton, Mrs. Augustus Blakely, and Miss Georgia Young of Clinton. Win- :Jr tained Miss Sylvia Wasson with a luncheon Wednesday, July 10, at the Cecil P. Wilson home on Ansel Drive. Miss Young was a bridesmaid in Miss Wasson’s wedding Sunday. A pink motif was carried in the decorations. ■ In the dining room a topiary tree decorated with roses and adorned with love birds in the top, centered the table. Guests found their places marked with pink bird place cards. Miss Wasson was remember ed with a gift and a corsage made with love birds. GIVEN DINNER - Several friends honored Miss Wasson and Mr. Wells with a dinner party at the Officers’ Club at Fort Jackson Friday evening, July 12. Those attend ing from Clinton were Mr. and Mrs. Sam Fleming, Miss Geor gia Young, Lawrence Young, and Col. and Mrs. B. gard. BRIDESMAIDS LUNCHEON Mrs. Sam Fleming of Clin ton, Mrs. J. B. Odell of Lau rens, and Mrs. David Leapord of Simpsonville, honored Miss Sylvia Wasson with a brides* maids luncheon at the Hotel Mary Musgrove Saturday at nbon. Guests found their places marked with hand-made dolls dressed similar to those of the bridesmaids’ dresses for the 1 wedding. The bride-elect’s place was marked with a doll dressed as a bride. Following lunch, Miss Wasson presented her attendants with gifts. An arrangement of Fuji mums, pom poms and tuberos es centered tbe luncheon table. Mrs. Peery Hostess To Lutheran Group Mrs. Gordon Peery was host ess to the morning group of the -utheran Church Women at her home on Tuesday, July 19. Prior to the program, the hostess served cake, coffee, and nuts. Mrs. Shelton Rimer, group eader, presided. Mrs. A. C. Workman, Jr., presented a pro- gram entitled “What Is A Christian?” During the business session, Mrs. Peery, president, presented guidelines and the new LCW guide book to each officer. Atter the meeting the group was dismissed with the, mission ary benediction. Miss Nelson Honored At Bridal Shower Prior to her Sunday wedding. Miss Belle Nelson was honored at a bridal shower on Saturday evening at the home of Miss Betty McDonald on the Green wood highway. The honoree was presented a mum corsage upon her arrival Chests were given ^ favors of small rice bags of green net, which were pinned on by Miss McDonald and Mrs. Howard McCauley. Arrangements of snaps and mums were used in the living and dining rooms. Following bridal games the guests were invited into the din? ing room. The buffet table was covered with a white linen cloth and was centered with a beauti ful crystal punch bowl on a stand and surrounded with greenry. Also decorating the table was an arrangement of snaps and mums flanked by crystal hurricane lamps. Open-faced sandwiches, cheese biscuits and mints were served with punch. Hostesses were Mrs. B. F. Harvey, Mrs. Virginia Wilson, Mrs. Cecil McLendon, Miss Mc Donald, Mrs. McCauley, and Mrs. Carson Neal of Greenville. Lott-Wilson Rehearsal Party Mrs. William P. Patrick of Charleston, Mrs.’ Robert J. Mc Call um of Clarkton, N. C., and Mrs. Edith Adair entertained members of the Lott-Wilson wedding party and out of town guests Saturday evening, July 13, with dinner immediately fol lowing the rehearsal at the Lott home on the Chappells highway. Dinner was served buffet style from a prettily appointed table centered with an arrangement of mums, baby’s breath, and snapdragons.
