Little Beth Werts of Green
wood, spent the past week with
her grandmother, Mrs. Sara Jen
kins. Mr. and Mrs. Billy Werts,
Jr., of Greenwood, also visited
Mrs. Jenkins over the week-end.
Mrs. James F. King of Arling
ton, Va., has been visiting her
mother, Mrs. J. W. Leake, and
sister. Mrs. R. P. Hamer, and
family.

turned to her home in Reeves-

her,, daughter have recently re
turned from a five weeks Euro
pean tour.
Mrs. Cassie Tolbert of the
Thornwell staff, accompanied by
her sister, Mrs. Arthur Rish of
Leesville, will spend a month vis
iting relatives in Gadsden, Ala.,
Detroit, Mich., Ann Arbor, Mich.,
and Shehlyville, Ky. They will
be accompanied to Alabama by
June Karen Sanders of the Har
riet Home.

Thorrtwell staff, will leave Satur
day for a week’s* stay at Sea Is
land, Ga., where she will visit
her nephew, George Leonard, and
family.
MAKING HOME HERE
Mrs. L. L. King and family are
making their home at 701 Pra
ther Circle. They formerly lived
in Kinards.
Mrs. Dean Hartley, Mrs. Clar
ence Wiley, Mrs. Isla Preston,
and Mrs. Carrie Atkinson of the
Thornwell staff, are among those
attending a ten-day workshop on
child care at the University of
North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
HOME FROM HOSPITAL
Friends of Miss Arva Henry
will be interested to know she has
returned home following a long
convalescence at the Clinton
Nursing Home.
Mrs. J. H. Crowe and Mrs.
Mattie Harvey were visitors in
Gray Court and the Warrior
Creek community on Monday.
Cadet Thomas M. DeYoung has
returned from McDill APB, Fla.,
where he spent four weeks with
the ROTC Summer Training
Unit. Cadet DeYoung attends
Clemson College.
Mrs. Eloise Cannon, Mrs. Sara
Jenkins and daughter, Lynn,
have returned from a two weeks
vacation at Fort Riley, Kansas,
with Sgt. WUUe Cannon. They
also visited Dodge City, the Eis
enhower Museum and Founda
tion in Abilene and other points
of interest in Kansas.
Mrs. H. C. Layton accom
panied by Miss Jean Layton and
Carol Blakely of Greenville are
spending two weeks at Windy
Hill. Mr. Layton will join them
on week-ends.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul A. Chandler
and daughters, Margaret and
Paula, of Hopewell, Va., sprat
last week with their parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Carl I. Chandler
here, and with Mr./and Mrs.
Grady Wasson in Laurens.
Mrs. L. L. Young has returned
from a two weeks visit with her
sister, Mrs. Murray Nixon, and
Mss. Henry Moore in St. Peters
burg, Fla. While there they visit
ed in Key West, Flamingo, and
other points of interest in Flori
da. Mrs. Mixon and Mrs. Moore
returned home with her and are
visiting here and with relatives
in Fountain Inn.

MOVED TO BLACKVILLE
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mussel-
white and family have moved to
Blackville, where Coach Mussel-
white has accepted the position
of head coach at Blackville High
School.
Miss Anne Johnson is visiting
her aunt, Miss Dolly Culbertson
at Bat’s Cave, N. C.
Don Grenade ‘ of Columbia
spent Wednesday with his moth
er, Mrs. B. Frith. He was ac
companied home by his son,
Stevie Grenade, who had been
visiting his grandmother.
Miss Virginia Sadler who spent
the month of July here has re
turned to her home in New York.
She was accompanied by her
mother, Mrs. R. E. Sadler as far
as Lynchburg, Va., where she vis
ited friends. ,

training with the Air Force at
McCoy AFB, Fla.

visiting Mrs. Lila C. Stewart and

Mr. and Mrs. Everette Carson
of Gastraia, N. C., visited her
sister, Mrs. John Roseboro, and
Mr. Roseboro the past Sunday.

PLAN HAWAII TRIP
The Rev. and Mrs. R. H. Free
land and children, Carolyn and
David, have returned to their
home in Alexandria, Va., after
several weeks stay with the lat
ter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C.
Thomas. The Freelands will jet
to Hawaii August 14 where Rev.
Freeland will conduct a two
weeks’ Baptist revival which is a
part of the Baptist Jubilee Ad
vance of the Southern Baptist
Convention.
W. G. Duvall of Covington,
Ga., visited his daughter and
son-in-law, Mr. and Mr^ Homer
Jones, on Sunday. While here he
alsfi visited with. Mr. and Mrs. E.
L. Holland.

vacationing with her daughter,
Mrs. Harvey Huffstetler and
family in Columbia and College
Park, Ga , with another daugh
ter, Mrs. , James Thomas, Mr.

spent last week with her parents.

VISITED WITH SISTER
Mrs. Mary E. McCoy returned
this week to her home at Arden,
N. C., following a months’ leave
from her position as visiting
nurse at the Asheville Nursing
Homes, to visit with her sister
and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
S. B. Loftis. While here she and
Mrs. Loftis visited Mrs. Luna
Crook and Homer Huggins in
Woodruff, Mrs. Pearl Ball of
Laurens, and Mrs. BsBe Waldrop
and family in Campobello.
