Church had the annual summer
party Saturday, June 8, at Green
wood state park.
During the afternoon boat rid
ing, water skiing and swimming
were enjoyed.
At 8:00 o’clock everyone gath
ered at No. 1 shelter for supper
which consisted of barbecued
chicken, baked potatoes, Corn on
the cob, slaw, hot rolls, butter,
homemade cookies and cold
drinks.
The food was prepared by MF7
and Mrs. W. R. Snclgrove and
Dan Duna>vay. Mrs. Snelgrove is
teacher of the class..
Twenty-four class members
and their dates enjoyed the oc
casion.
CALVIN G. SPIRES PASSES
Lain*ens—Funeral services for
Calvin Gordon Spires, 41, who
died Saturday, were conducted
Monday at 4:00 p. m. at Faith
Baptist Church by Rev. John R.
Waters and Rev. Alvin Boone.
Burial was in Forest Lawn ceme
tery.
Pallbearers were James Rid
dle, Jack Allen, Wilton Foster,
Woodrow Davis, Bennie Owens,
and Paul Quinton.
The honorary escort was com
posed of Harold Mitchell, G. E.
Owings, Russell Dendy, Howard
Schofield,. Dr. A. N. Mims, and
Dr. J. E. Atkinson.
Mr. Spires is survived by his
father, B. H. Spires; his step
mother, Mrs. Ruth M c G.e e
Spires; his wife, Mrs. Reba Wil
liams Spires l one son, Paul
Spires, of the home; three broth
ers, Belvin, Walter and Donald
Spires of Laurens; and two sis
ters, Mrs. Lester Smith of Green
ville; and Mrs. Ralph Hughes of
Boynton Beach, Fla.

The specifications as outlined
