Expansion of the Lakeside
Country aub facilities and im
provement of the present club
house will soon be a reality.
Members of the club voted
recentiy at their annual meet
ing to build a new pro shop
and 19th hole, along with a new
teen-age room. Bids are expected
to be given to contractors in
June with the cost estimated
around $40,000.
The new addition will be built
adjoining the present club house
and will include a roof patio
which will afford an excellent
view of the swimming pool and
the golf course. The present pro
shop will be torn down.
President of the club, Dr. Dan
Orr of Clinton, said the club
presently has 226 members and
added that the new addition is
expected to attract several new
members.
He urged anyone considering
frjning the club to contact Earl
Tinsley, pro-manager of the dub,
or any member. The club already
offers an 18-hole golf course,
swimming under the supervision
of a life guard with swimming
lessons available, fishing in a
well-stocked pond of bass and
bream, tennis and monthly club
activities.
Any new members joining the
club before June 15 wiU be given
the same privileges as present
members to pay for the new
building. To finance the project,
each member of the club will be
charged $200 payable in one of
the following ways:
A. Lump sum of $200.00.
B. $50.00 down and sixteen
quarterly payments of $11.00
each.
C. Nothing down and sixteen
quarterly payments of $15.00
each.
Other board members include
Jeter Glenn, Jim Brown, Tom
my T odd, Jack Sexton, and Phil
Southerland of Laurens; George
Cornelson, James Addison and
Ed Sadler of Clinton.
After June 15, new members
can only exercise option (a) or
(b) plan. Membership is expect
ed to be closed as the club con
tinues to grow.

wedding of the former’s grand
son, Tony, Abercrombie, and
Miss Elizabeth McCormick in the
chapel of the First Presbyterian
Church in Columbia on June 1.
Mr. and Mrs. Marion Herring
and son of Greenwood, were re
cent guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jo
seph Smith.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Riddle,
Mr. and Mrs. David Word, Miss
Sue Word and Jimmy Hairston
were in Greenville Thursday for
the Hejaz Temple Shrinfi-Xpnven-
tion ceremonies. Mr. Hairston
was one of the Shrine candidates.
Miss Gloria Jackson spent the
past week in Clemson with her
brother and sister-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Donald Jackson.
Mr. and Mrs. Major Crawford
and family attended the recent
World 600 races in Charlotte, N.
C. On Sunday they visited Mrs.
Crawford’s mother, Mrs. James
Dover, in Rutherfordton, N. C.
Ronald Williams of Rock Hill,
was the dinner guest of Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Goss on Sunday.
W. P, Terrell visited^ his
brother, Thomas Terrell, and
family near Atlanta, Ga., re
cently.
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Seay and
family spent the week-end in
Maggie Valley, N. C. Teresa and
Maxie are visiting their grand
mother, Mrs. J. H. Seay, in
Green vile this week.
Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Roberts
and Misses Barbara and Kay
Roberts, Mr. and Mrs. Claude
Gilstrap spent a few clays in
Asheville, N. C., last week, going
for the Southern Textile Associa
tion convention. Mr. Roberts is
the retiring president of the
group.
Delmar Lawson was a repre
sentative of the Clinton High
School FFA at the convention

The Ladies’ Auxiliary of the
Lydia Pentecostal Holiness
Church held the June meeting at
the home of Mrs. Roscie Bryan
Monday evening of last week.
The Bible studyt was given by
Mrs. Furman Bagwell.
Mrs. Bryan, president of the
auxiliary, presided over the busi
ness session.
