Mrs. Myrtis King
Laurens—Mrs. Myrtis Gwinn
King, 54, of 330 Wilson St., died
late Monday afternoon at a
Greenwood hospital after three
years of declining health and
three weeks of illness.
She was a native of Spartan
burg County, daughter of the
late Howard and Anna Golden
Gwinn.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs.
Roy Taylor of Fountain Inn;
three sons, Wayne, Rossie, and
Wilton King, all of Laurens; four
brothers, Charles Gwinn of Lau
rens; Howard Gwinn of Green-
pond; Odell Gfrinn of North
Carolina; and Wade Gwinb of
Florida; and three granochil-
dren.
Funeral services were conduct
ed Wednesday at 4:00 p. m. at
the Second Baptist Church by
Rev. Grange S. Cothran and Rev.
Frank C. Taylor. Burial was in
Forest Lawn cemetery.

increase their lead for first
place in the Dixie Youth
League. With the good pitching
of Motes and Tedards and the
strong hitting of Hammet,
Campbell, and Power along
with the rest of the team,, this
team is hard to defeat. The
(ham has hit eleven'home runs
at the halfway mark of the
schedule. The Lions have
record of ten wins and no loss
es. They are followed by the
Exchange Club with eight wins
and two losses.

PALMETTO NEWS
Joanna remains undefeated in
the Palmetto League, with Ly
dia in second place with only
one loss (to Joanna). The Pal
metto District Tournament will
be held in Rosk Hill this sum
mer.
SMALL FRY LEAGUE
All teams in the Small Fry
League have been defeated. Ly
dia and Joanna are tied for first
place with three wins and one
loss.

TOURNAMENT HERE
The District Two Sub-District
Di^ie Youth Tournament will be
held in Clinton starting July 22.
A district meeting will be held
in the Thomwell High School
on July 15. At this time the
birth certificated and all-star

Mrs. J. B. Wilder, accom

McCormick, left Tuesday to
attend the wedding of the for
mers’ niece. Miss Bonnie Baze-
more, in Jacksonville, Fla. Miss
Sarah Wilder will be an attend
ant in the wedding which is to
take place Saturday afternoon.

Callie Gault, head football
coach at Presbyterian College,
will be guest speakelr at the
regular meeting of the Kiwanis
club tonight. Coach Gault will
speak on the prospects and out
look for the coming football sea

Power Off Sunday
In Clinton MiH Area
All houses located south of
Jackson St, at Clinton Mill shall
be without electrical service
from 6 a. m. to 8 a. m. Sunday
morning, June 16, 1963.
The power will be discontinued
due to necessary repair work. \
King Home At Joanna
Damaged By Blaze
Fire, apparently caused by de
fective wiring, did heavy damage
to the home of Terrel King on
Browning Avenue in Joanna a-
round 1:30 a. m. Thursday.
Assistant Fire Chief-F. D.
Bragg of the Joanna Fire De
partment said that the blaze
burned through the roof and
damaged two upstairs rooms and
a hallway’ before firemen
brought It under control He
estimated the damage to be a-
round 31,500.
The Clinton Fire Department
was called around 1:45 a. m.
and Engineer Paul Quinton car
ried a pumper to assist the Jo
anna firemen.
