She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Horace P. Horton. Bed Named Class , President-At Oemson James D. Bell, of Clinton, ris ing junior at Oemson College, has been named president of the class for the 1863-’84 term. Bell is the son of Mrs. (Hin Bell and the late Mr. Bell. Miss Glenn Gets $2913 To ConHnue Education Next Year Miss Sara Wttlcrd Glenn of Clinton, received the Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, on May 27 at the graduation ex ercises of King College, Bristol, Tenn. Miss Glenn has received a $813 fellowship in English, plus $2,000 for the teaching internship in the Master of Arts in Teaching pro gram at Johns Hopkins Univer sity for 1963-64. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Glenn of Clinton. Recreation News All boys who are not members of the Small Fry, Dixie Youth and Palmetto League baseball teams and want to learn to play baseball are asked to report each morning at 10.00 at the Presbyte rian College softball field. Hap McSween will be there to teach the fundamentals of baseball. There will also be baseball Team Lions Exchange Whitmire Kiwanis ... Moose ITEM games. Girls interested in playing soft- ball should report to the field be hind the armory each morning at 8 o’clock for practice, League games will be played in the Dixie Youth park. Girls and boys of school or col lege age interested in learning how to play tennis or in improv ing you game may do so by see ing Coach Warden at the PC ten- his courts at 9:00 a. m. daily. DIXIE YOUTH The Kiwanis Club gava the un-} Joanna defeated Lions Club a real scare Friday night when the Lions had to play an extra inning before downing the Kiwanis 4 to 3. Two eleven-year-olds, Motes of the Lions and Kemp of the Ki wanis, hooked up in a tight pitch ing duel. The Lions finally won on a throwing error. PALMETTO NEWS Joanna has won three straight in the Palmetto League to lead Bailey and Lydia, both having a 2-1 record so far. This league is rather evenly balanced this sea son and a close race is predicted. Each team has twelve games remaining. DIME YOUTH LEAGUE MEETS The district two Dixie Youth League held Its first meeting of the season in Clinton Monday night, with city recreation direc tor D. S. Templeton presiding. There were 14 ciUes or teams represented. Clinton will be host to the sub district two Dixie Youth tourna ment which will be played near 2. the third week in July.
