Of Study Club Meet
Roses arranged in sea shells

day afternoon, May 8, when the
Study Club met at the home of
- Mrs. Wilson Harris.
Mrs. R. E. Sadler led the after
noon program on the Russia bal
let (for the last meeting of the
year), vividly discussing the his
tory of the dance with emphasis
on Nijinsky and others.
Later refreshments were served
buffet style in the dining room
from a table adorned with a sin
gle pink rose in a snifter and
pink candles in candelabrae.
Kindergarten Picnic
Set For Tuesday
The week-day kindergarten of
the First Presbyterian Church
has schedule a family picnic
for Tuesday, May 21, at 6:4B on
the church grounds.
The kindergarten will furnish
beverages, paper cups and
plates. Each family is asked to
bring a basket.
Open house will be held in the
kindergarten rooms following
supper, according, to Mrs. J. P.
Rowland, teacher."
New Circle Formed
At St. John's Church
The newly formed circle of
Lutheran Church Women of St.
John’s Church met for its first
session Tuesday morning at the
home of Mrs. Ace Workman,
Jr., on Young Drive. Mrs. Shel
ton Rimer is the new leader
and Mrs. J. R. Reynolds the
recorder. The president, Mrs. J.
Gordon Peery, presided.
The program on “Focus On
The Symbol” was led by Mrs.
Workman.
The circle welcomed a new
member, Mrs. N. C. Wessinger.

Railroad Bank, having earned
a RS degree at Presbyterian,
College. He is a graduate o:

iously entertained Sunday after
noon, May 4, with a tea at the
home of Mrs. Platt Prather on
North Adair Street, by aunts of
Mr. Templeton, Mrs. George
Holland, Mrs. Joe Land, Mrs
D. J. Buchanan of Joanna, Mrs
J. W. Gibson of Swannanoa, N
C., and Mrs. Prather.
A pink and white color note
was beautifully carried out
throughout the home in ar
rangements of spring flowers.
In the receiving rooms were
arrangements of pink and white
peonies and pink roses.
Centering the tea table was
an arrangement of pink roses
flanked with pink tapers in
crystal candelabra.
Organ wedding music was
presented by Mrs. Joe Land
and Miss Brenda FaQaw.
Assisting in serving were
Mrs. Wallace Franks, Mrs. Nell
Haggart, Mrs. Alien Trammell,
Mrs. Florence Templeton, Mrs.
Davis Pitts and Mrs. Frank

B&PW Club Meeting
Held On Tuesday
The Clinton Business and Pro
fessional Women’s Club met
Tuesday at the Mary Musgrove
Hotel.
The president, Mrs. R. W.
Johnson, presided. She called on
the officers and committee chair
men to give an annual report,
noting achievements of the year.
Miss Margaret Blakaly carried
out dn installation ceremony.
She used several different colored
flower corsages — each as a
B&PW symbol for each officer.
The following new officers
were installed: President, Mrs.
Grace Connor; First Vice-Presi
dent, Mrs. P. M. Pitts; Second
Vice-President, Mrs. Robert
Johnson; Recording Secretary,
Mrs. Olga Ray; Corresponding
Secretary, Mrs. Dessie Roberts;
Treasurer, Mrs. Elizabeth Stew
art.
Miss Blakely presented the out
going president and the incom
ing president each a B&PW pin
guard. Then she presented the
new president the gavel tied with
a bow in the B&PW colors, green
and gold.
Lovely flower arrangements,
using pink roses, greens and
pink candies, were made by Miss
Marian Burts.
The meeting closed with the
Club Collect.
Tea Given For
June Bridee-Elect
Mrs. L. S. McMillian, Mrs.
Leaman Jones, Mrs. Arthur
Greenwood, Miss Bessie Jones,
and Mrs. Marion Hiers enter
tained the great-granddaughters
of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Davis
with a tea on Saturday after
noon at 4 o’clock at the Mary
Musgrove Hotel.
Mrs. Hiers greeting the guests
as they assembled, presented
the honorees, Miss Wiley Davis,
Miss Betsy Davis, and Mrs.
Martha McMillian Glasure,
June bride-elects, along with
their mothers and other wed
ding attendants.
Roses were used extensively
in decorations.

A silver epergne of pink roses
and coral bells were prettily ar
ranged on the tea table overlaid
with an imported linen and lace
cloth.
Adorning the punch table, sil
ver candelabra entwined with
roses and ivy in the same motif
were very attractive.
A focal point in the room was
an antique umbrella stand fill
ed with sprays of yellow roses.

Finalists in Laurens Contest
These were the finalists in the “Miss Laurens”
Pageant held Saturday night at the Laurens High
School auditorium. They are, from left, Sara Felicia

ner-up. This was the third annual Miss Laurens Pa^
geant, sponsored by the Laurens Junior Chamber of

With Luncheon
Honoring Miss Linda Milam,
popular June bride-elect, Mrs.
W. P. Jacobs, 3rd, and Mrs.
L. N. Warren entertained at
luncheon on Saturday.
Throughout the Jacobs home,
where three tables were ap
pointed for luncheon, pink roses
were used in decoration. In
keeping with the chosen motif,
nosegays of rosebuds .centered
the tables.
As the guests assembled,
Mrs. Gary Lehn assisted the
hostesses in serving punch, af
ter which they were seated for
a luncheon plate and edssert
course.
Miss Milam was remembered
with a corsage and a gift of
china in her chosen pattern.

clan was held Sunday at the
American Legion Hut. A boun
tiful picnic lunch was spread
for about ninety-four.
