L. Pitts in Spartanburg Sunday. MUSIC FESTIVAL JUDGE Mrs. Eva Land will be one of the judges at the South Carolina Music Festival which will be held in Columbia. She will be judging on ’ March 9 and 16. IN ASHEVILLE HOSPITAL Friends of Miss Helen Porter will be Interested to know she is a patient at the Mission Me morial Hospital in Asheville, N. C. t where she underwent an eye operation. Mis Julia Porter, who stayed with her sister, has returned home. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Anderson -were in Columbia last Saturday for the 50th anniversary ban quet of the South Carolina High School League. Mr. Anderson was a special invited guest, honoring him as a past presi dent of the league. Joe Holcombe, son of Dr. and Mrs. Fred Holcombe, is a pa tient at the Warm Spriftf • Foundation, Warm Springs, Ga. Mrs. Louise Hilton was the week-end guest of her sister Mrs. Norman Duke, in. Union. Mrs. W. L. Leary of Green wood has been a patient at Greenville General Hospital but is now convalescing at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Cox. Mrs. S. C. Rowe of Marion, N. C., is spending several days with Mr. and Mrs. John Mabry, coming especially for the An nual Inspection Service of the James B. Parrott Chapter, Or der of Eastern Star. HAS OPERATION Friends of R. G. Murphy will be interested to know he is con valescing at home following surgery and a stay at the South Carolina Medical College Hos pital in Charleston. He return ed home Saturday. Dr. and Mrs. Louis Stephens and sons^Louie and Gary, spent the week-end with Dr. Stephen’s mother, Mrs. John R. Stephens, and family in Canton, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. Rhett Adair and their guest, Mrs. B. F. Dillon, of Gettysburg, Pa., spent Satur day in Augusta, Ga. with rela tives. VISITING HERE FROM FLA. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin W. Jacob son of St. Petersburg, Fla. were here visiting with their daughter and son-in-law, Rev. and Mrs. Gordon Perry, and family. Also visiting was Mrs. Gretchen Dilocker of St. Peters burg. Louise Speake and Mike Har vey, both students at the Uni versity of South Carolina, were here visiting with their parents over the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Brazeal of Raleigh, N. C. spent the week end with the latter’s mother, Mrs. Bell Henderson. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Mar and Miss Ada Campbell of Spartan burg visited Mrs. J. B. Wilder on Sunday. Mrs. T. P. Horger arrived last Friday after a three months vis it with her daughter, Mrs. U. W. Spinney, in Austin, Texas. RETURN TO FT. KNOX Lt. and Mrs. David H. Watts and Judith Anne of Fort Knox, Ky., returned Sunday after spending a two weeks leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Webb, 47, died early last Wednesday at a Clinton hospital after several years of declining health. He was a native of Ware Shoals and had lived in Joanna a number of years. He was a son of Mrs. Betty Webb and the late, Jack Webb. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Mrs. Lois Fuller Webb of Joanna; two sons, Frederick S. Webb of Joanna, and Johnny Ray Webb of Clinton; a daughter, Mrs. Beverly W.
