J. Oi Kohn, an uncle of Mrs. Jim Tinsley, died at Greenville General hospital on Saturday. Funeral services were held on Tuesday. Mrs. Sara Duncan of Marion, N. C., spnt last week with Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Windsor. Mrs. Shirley Hedspeth and Mike spent the week with her brother, Maxie Joe, in Wichita, Kanasas. / . _ Mr., and Mrs. G. M. Faulkner and granddaughter, Myra, of Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. Alice Dunaway and son, Arthur, of Clinton, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dunaway and daughters, Peggy and Sandy, of Clinton, and Mrs. Bolt of Laurens, were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. Mrs. Clara May Robinson of Honea Path, a missionary from Japan, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Pressley Chaney. They attended services at Friendsbip Baptist Church Sun day evening where Mrs. Robin son gave a talk on her work in Japan. Mrs. J. W. Hedspeth was a week-end guest of her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Ivester. Mr. and Mrs. Billy Pitts and daughter, Jenny, visited Mrs. Pitts’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Reeder, over the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. John Faye vis ited relatives in Union Sunday. Mrs. Bertie Thomas and Mrs. Elva Lou Waits of Newberry, Mr. and Mrs. B. Huey, is on radio station WPCC each Sun day at 4:00 p. m. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Wooten will be guests Sun day, February 3. MRS. FICKLIN HONORED WITH SHOWER On Friday evening, January 25, Mrs. D. D. Ficklin was honored With a pink ahd blue shower at the home of Mrs. George Corley. Games and contests were played. Following the games the host esses, Mrs. Corley and Mrs. Burton Reeder, served refresh ments of cherry pie, ice cream and coffee. Mrs. Ficklin was remember ed with many lovely and use ful gifts. CHURCH HAS NEW LIBRARY Calvary Baptist Church an nounces that it now has a room and new equipment for the church library. It is located up stairs in the new addition to the church, off the side of the main auditorium. It is open be fore, between, and after ser vices on Sunday and Wednes day. Many new. and interesting books have been added to the library recently. For individuals “'W" groups who would like to donate a hook, special book plates will be placed in the book cover. Also, plates dseginating them as in honor of or in honor of per sons. Miss Marion Mitchell Js the church librarian. BIRTHDAY celebrated with FARmr. r On Saturday, January 19, Peggy Ann -Shepard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Shep ard, celebrated her 9th birth day with a party. Fifteen little friends were present. Refresh ments served were cookies, cake, ice cream and cold drinks. Favors of bubble gum and suckers were given each child. Mrs. Shepard was assist ed by Mrs. Paul Wilbanks. Peg gy was remembered with many nice gifts. HONORED WITH SHOWER On Saturday, January 28; Mrs. Henry Lawson, Jr., was honored with a , pink and blue shower at the hpme of Mrs. Arthur Lawson. KOHN Joseph Calvin Kohn, 63, of Piedmont, died at a Greenville hospital Saturday at 6:20 p. m. after a serious illness of three months and declining health of eight months. - Pallbearers were Walter Ro per, Buddy Watson, Fred Car- tee, Horace Williams, Paul Ste- gall and Joe Prelusky. The honorary escort was com posed of the. Men’s. Bible class of the church, Connie Green, Roy McKittrick, Jack Carpen ter, Dpyle Lunsford, W. H. Rig gins nhd Dr. Walter Vaughn. He was born in Anderson County, the son of the late Wil liam and Lucy Quinn Kohn, and lived on lit. 2 for the past 23 years. He was a veteran of World War 1 and a member of West Gantt Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Louise Duchesne Kohn; a broth er, James G. Kohn of Los An geles Cdlif..*-' and a sister ~Mrs. Pearl Pajterson of this city. Funeral services were con ducted Tuesday at 4:00 p. v m. at West Gantt Baptist Church by Rev. Clyde Allen. Burial was in Greenville Memorial Gar dens. ** * ■ f, • County Farm Bureau Has 332 Members Laurens County Farm Bu reau Secretary, Mrs. Agnes Bailey, attended an all-day con ference in Columbia on Jfmu- ary 18. This meeting, designed to coordinate work between county. Farm Bureaus, was at tended by county secretaries from all over-the state and was held at the new state Farm B ureau headquarters. year with 332 paid members. This represents a large percent age of the farmers in the coun ty and gives broad representa tion to agricultural policy de velopment through Farm Bu- reaiL In commenting on county membership County President T.
