Guests enjoyed an informal
hour In the den where magno
lia foliage and blossoms were
artistically arranged. Later
they were invited into the dining
room for refreshments of ham
biscuit, sandwiches, assorted hot
dainties, cookies and cold drinks.
Yellow roses and blue hydran
gea made a pretty centerpiece
on the linen cutwork • cloth.
Magnolia was also used, in he
dining room and elsewhere in
the receiving rooms, along with
colorful summer flowers.
The hostesses’ gift to the hon-
oree was a silver vegetable dish.

A garden party on Saturday
evening at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. W. R. Anderson honored
Miss Martha Ann Clark and
Floyd Elliott, Jr., who plan a
summer wedding. Miss Rose Lee
was co-hostess with the Ander-
sons for the delightful informal
affair.
Guests included relatives of the
bride-elect, who is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Niles Clark of
Waterloo, and relatives of the
groom-elect from Charlotte, N. C.

was served in the garden setting
where a long table was appoint
ed with a bouquet of colorful mix
ed summer flowers, arranged
by Mrs. Locke Simons.

Broad Street Methodist Church
in Hodges Hall.

Virginia Pass In Roxboro. N. C.. Curch Rites
In a double ring ceremony
Saturday evening. May 19, at
7:30 in the evening at the Rox
boro, N. C., Baptist Church,
Miss Virginia Lee Pass and
George Alexander Henry were
united In marriage.
The bride is the daughter of
Mrs. W. Y. Pass and the late
Mr. Pass of 612 Reams Avenue,
Roxboro. She is a graduate of
Meredith College.
The groom is the son of Mrs.
Alexander Henry and the late
Mr. Henry of this city. They now
reside in Decatur, Ga. He was
educated in the city schools and
at Presbyterian College.
The officiating minister was
the Rev. L. G. Elliott, pastor
of the bride. He was assisted by
Rev. Charles L. McMillan of
Burlington.

on, soloist, presented the nup
tial music.
The bride’s brother, John W.
Pass, of Raleigh, N. C., gave
in marriage. She wore a
gown of white silk organza over
taffeta, fashioned with a portrait
neckline trimmed with Imported
Chantilly lace, long pointed
a fitted long torso seal
loped bodice. The bouffant skirt
with lace appliques flowed Into
a chapel train. Her fingertip
veil of bridal illusion was at
tached to a crown of seed paarls
and she carried a crescent-shap
ed bouquet of lilies of the valley
centered with a white orchid.
She wore a pearl necklace, the
wedding gift of the groom.
William J. Henry of this city,
uncle of the groom, was best
man. Usher - groomsmen were
William E. Clayton, uncle of the
bride; Robert D. Carroll, the
bride’s brother-in-law; Dale
Lunford, Jimmy Green of Rox
boro, Dewey Young, Jr, of
Durham, Cy Rodlo of Decatur,
cousin of the groom. Serving as
junior groomsmen were Win
ston Forsyth and Matt Harris,
the brides’s nephew of Roxboro.
Johnny Rodlo of Decatur, cousin
of the groom, was ring bearer.
The matron and maid of honor
ere the bride's sister, Mrs.
Robert D. Carroll of Roxboro,
and Miss Leath Miller of Ral
eigh. Bridesmaids were Mrs.
Exum Kirty, Miss Kathleen Till
man, Mrs. Joseph Bradshaw,
Raleigh, Miss Raney Perkins.,
Hampton, Va., and Mrs. Cy Ro-
dia, Decatur, cousin of the
groom. Misses Leigh and Kaye
Pass of Raleigh, nieces of the
bride, were Junior bridesmaids,
and flower girl was Miss Mar
tha Lynn Carroll of Roxboro,
niece of the bride.
The attendants wore dresses of
pumpkin silk organza taffeta
with back panel of apricot or
ganza. Their headpieces were in
matching color and fabric with
flirtation veils, and they canted
a May basket of gerbera daisies
and marguerites in shades of
apricot and pumpkin. The flow
er girt craried a basket of white
rose petals trimmed to match
the other attendants’ baskets.
Church decorations included
setting of Mexican emerald
palm trees Interspersed with

holding lighted cathedral tapers.
The Carolina Wren members
tr*U meet at the home of
J. C. Thomas at 3 o'clock to go
| to their lakeside cottage for a
picnic. Hostesses in addition to
Mrs. Thomas will he Mrs. Rem-
bert Truluck and Mrs. R. J.

have a program and picnic sup
per at the club house of the
Champion Paper Co., the Old
Belfast Home, on the Saluda
Highway. Members wiU meet at
the First Baptist Church at
3:30 for the outing.

workshop at 3:30 at the home of
Mrs. John T. Adair on North
Adair Street. Each number will
bring material for a flower ar
rangement.

A dutch luncheon will be given
by members of the Sun Bonnet
club at 12:30 on Monday at Ver
non’s. Each member may invite
guests if they like.
Mrs. Law Feted at
Going-Away Party
Mrs. C. E. Law, who leaves
the first of June to return to
Dillon to make her home, was
feted on Thursday morning with
a coke party at the Gary Lehn
home on Chestnut Street, with
Mrs. Lehn, Mrs. J. B. Temple
ton and Mrs. William P, Ja
cobs, 3rd, as hostesses.
Neighboring friends were In
vited for the informal gather
ing during which refreshments
were served in buffet style from
the dining room table. A sil
ver bowl of pink roses centered
the table and in the living room
roses were used with coral bells.
A coffee table arrangement of
sweetheart roses also adorned
the living room. Assisting the
hostesses was Mrs. C. W. Cooper.
Mrs. Law was remembered
with a gift.

L. Crocker on the occasion of their golden wedding anniversary.
Natives of North Carolina, Mr. and Mrs. Crocker were
married oa May 19, 1912. She was before marriage Miss Lillie
Jones.
The Crockers are parents of two sons and a daughter.
William Crocker of Joanna, and Claude A. Crocker of this
city. Their daughter, (Virginia) Mrs. David Satterfield, is
deceased. They have four grandchildren and three great
grandchildren, nil of whom were present for the event.

To Sponor Handcap
Tournament
The Ladies Golf Association
of Lakeside Country Club will
sponsor a Junior handicap tour
nament for boys and girls of the
club June 7 and 8.
The off time will he 2 o’clock.
Players will be divided into two
divisions: 1—players up to 12;
2—players up to 18. Girls and
boys in each group will compete
separately and a number of pris
es will be given in each divis
ion.
A picnic is being planned for
the last day of the tournament,
the 8th. Families of the players
are invited to come and bring
a picnic lunch. Drinks will be
furnished.
Earl Tinsley, golf pro at the
club, will give a free pre-tourna
ment clinic on May 26 for thoae
who are interested. Boys' clinic
will begin at 9 o'clock and tbej
girls' at 10:00 a. m.
