Rve. and Mrs. W. J. Lesley were in Dillon Monday through today for the Church of God Prayer Conference. Miss Gloria Jackson, with band director Harry Bouknight and six other band members attend ed the South Carolina senior all- state band auditions in Columbia Saturday. Miss Jackson was among those selected for the representative band. Mrs. Arthur Coker of Startex, and Mrs. Curtis Hadden of Ly man, visited Mrs. R. G. John son, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby John son Sunday. Mrs. Maxie Davis, Mrs. Leroy Dunaway, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Campbell visited Sunday with relatives in Simpsonville. Mrs. Lilly Belle Miller spent a few days in Greenwood last week with Mrs. Geneva Coker, who was ill at her home there. Miss Karen Hanna was the week-end guest of Miss Sandy McCullough in Mauldin. Mrs. Grady Rogers and chil dren and Mrs. Matt Davis of near Clinton, were Sunday supper Clyde Trammell were in Green wood Saturday evening for the banquet and annual inspection of the Callie Self Chapter of the Or der of Eastern Star. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Pattreson and Miss Sandra Mills visited Mr. and Mrs'. C. R. Boland in Spartanburg Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. James Estes and son and Mrs. Lewis Smith of Ninety-Six, visited Mr. and Mrs. Patterson during the week-end. Mrs. Alma Harvey visited her daughter, Mrs. J. W. Turner, and Mr. Turner in Greenwood during the week-end. Friends will be glad to know Mrs. Turner is re cuperating at her home following recent surgery. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Lanford of Albany, Ga., are visiting this week with her mother, Mrs. Sam Prince, and other relatives. Mr .and Mrs. William Stone and family of Anderson, spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Trammell. Harold Coker and Eddie Taylor were inducted into the U. S. Navy on Tuesday of last week and are now at the Naval Training Center in San Diego, Calif. Mrs. Burdette will be with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Ivester, while her husband is away. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Burdette. Thomas is the son of Mrs. Fran ces Meeks. WITH the sick Mrs. Eula Quinton has been a patient at the Blalock Clinic since Tuesday of last week. Homer Birch returned to work Monday after a week's illness. Mrs. Evelyn Dunaway is a pa tient at Hays hospital. BOOZER-McDANIEL BITES TUESDAY Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Boozer an nounce the marriage of their daughter, Joyce Elizabeth, to Winfred Lee McDaniel, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. McDaniel of Wattsville. The wedding was performed Tuesday evening, January 16, at 6:00 p. m. in the pastor’s study of the Lydia Baptist Church by the Rev. M. J. Sanders. The young couple is now at home at 15 Simmons St., Watts ville. MOTHERS MARCH Tomorrow evening, Friday, at from 7:00 until 8:00, the Mothers March for the March of Dimes will take place. Everyone is asked to please have your donation ready when one of the mothers knocks at the door. Let’s give to help our own and others to walk and live normal lives. Refreshments will be served to those marching immediately af ter the march at the Community Building. BRIDAL SHOWER FOR MISS DUNAWAY Mrs. Maxie Davis and Mrs. R. G. Dunaway, Jr., were hostesses on Tuesday evening of last week at a bridal shower for Miss Louise Dunaway at the Commun ity Building. January 27th will be Roger Patterson’s birthday. SEAY RITES MONDAY Wade Hampton Seay, 76, died Thursday about noon in a Green wood hospital after a short ill ness. He was a native of Haywood County, N. C., and had lived in Enoree for a number of years before moving to Clinton two years ago. He was a member of the Enoree Free Will Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Annie Franks Seay; four sons, Alfred and James Seay of Clin ton; McKinley and David Seay of Whittier, Calif.; five half-broth ers, John and Clyde Bright of Buffalo; J. D. Bright of Union; Wilson Bright of Greenville; and Wylie Bright of Fountain Inn; two half-sisters, Mrs. Maude Moore of Whitney, and Mrs. Ann Moore of Buffalo; 10 grandchil dren and four great-grandchil dren. TUCKER SURPRISED ON BIRTHDAY Monday afternoon upon return ing from work, Mrs. Jimmy Tucker was pleasantly surprised when Mr. Tucker and several relatives and friends greeted her with the birthday song. Surprising her were Mrs. Sa rah Shelnut and family, Mrs. Jes sie Mae Owens, Lucy Dean, Mrs. Doyle Templeton, with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wilbanks and children of Greenville, who are visiting her sister, Mrs. Tucker, and mother, Mrs. Shelnut, Mrs. Fran ces Ballew of Charleston, and Miss Jean Ballew, Mrs. Ruth Jones and Mrs. Bobby Bagwell of Clinton.
